Book Synopsis Math Mammoth Canadian Money by : Maria Miller
Download or read book Math Mammoth Canadian Money written by Maria Miller and published by . This book was released on 2015-09-03 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Math Mammoth Canadian Money is a worktext that covers Canadian money-related topics usuallyencountered during grades 1-3. The book contains both textbook explanations and exercises, and isdesigned to be very easy to teach from, requiring very little teacher preparation (you do need to find somepractice coins before the lessons). The book starts with first-grade topics such as counting nickels, dimes, and quarters. While the lessonsuse pictures for the coins, practicing with real coins is, of course, even better, and you should have realmoney on hand to practice with. From there, the lessons advance towards second-grade, and finally to third grade topics. Therefore, youcan also let your child work the pages of this book in different time periods, and not go through it all atonce, depending on your child's current level. The lesson Making Change explains two basic ways of finding the change: counting up, and subtracting (finding thedifference). This is all done with mental math. The next lesson also practices money problems usingmental math. There is a lesson we solve money problems by adding and subtracting money amounts vertically (incolumns). The last lesson deals with how to shop without pennies. Since store prices still end in uneven centamounts and the total cost is rounded to the nearest five or ten cents, we tried to give some examples topractice rounding prices and shopping.
Book Synopsis Humble Math - 100 Days of Money, Fractions, & Telling the Time by : Humble Math
Download or read book Humble Math - 100 Days of Money, Fractions, & Telling the Time written by Humble Math and published by . This book was released on 2020-09-02 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 100 days of counting money, learning fractions, and telling the time. Three core areas of math that students often need additional help to master. Start by counting groups of coins that have a value of a dollar or less. Slowly learn to count greater amounts of money that include small and large notes too. Add and subtract values, and even learn to make change. Learn fractions one step at a time. Start with simple fractions and eventually learn to add and subtract mixed numbers. Telling the time is one of the more difficult concepts for children to learn. Gradually progress from learning to tell hours, to quarter hours. Eventually tell time in five minute and minute increments. This is a great workbook to start out with. Most students will grasp the concepts within each of the three sections. If a student still needs more practice, Humble Math has workbooks that provide additional practice for these concepts too.
