Download or read book California Bank and Shore Rock Slope Protection Design written by James A. Racin and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report clarifies the procedure of the California Bank and Shore (CABS) layered rock slope protection (RSP) design method. There are solved problems, figures, and tables for practitioners who design and build flexible rock revetments by the CABS method. There are field evaluations of sixty-five sites tabled by location and design method. The authors and local practicing engineers in design, construction, and maintenance critically evaluated sites along stream and river banks and ocean shores among five states: Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado, and Mississippi. Ninety photographs show significant design and construction features of riprap. Annotations are presented for fifty-eight references.

Book Synopsis Low-Volume Roads Engineering - Best Management Practices Field Guide by : Gordon Keller
Download or read book Low-Volume Roads Engineering - Best Management Practices Field Guide written by Gordon Keller and published by . This book was released on 2023-11-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Low-Volume Roads Engineering Best Management Practices Field Guide is intended to provide an overview of the key planning, location, design, construction, and maintenance aspects of roads that can cause adverse environmental impacts and to list key ways to prevent those impacts. Best Management Practices are general techniques or design practices that, when applied and adapted to fit site-specific conditions, will prevent or reduce pollution and maintain water quality. BMPs for roads have been developed by many agencies since roads often have a major adverse impact on water quality, and most of those impacts are preventable with good engineering and management practices. Roads that are not well planned or located, not properly designed or constructed, not well maintained, or not made with durable materials often have negative effects on water quality and the environment.

Book Synopsis Tentative Design Procedure for Riprap-lined Channels by : Alvin George Anderson
Download or read book Tentative Design Procedure for Riprap-lined Channels written by Alvin George Anderson and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this study was the development of criteria and design procedures for the use of aggregate riprap linings, which consists of a layer of discrete fragments of rock of sufficient size to resist the erosive forces of the flow. The design of such riprap-lined drainage channels involves the interrelationship between the discharge, the longitudinal slope, the size and shape of the channel, and the size distribution of the riprap lining. This report describes these interrelationships and develops design criteria by which a riprap-lined drainage channel can be proportioned and the riprap lining can be specified for a given discharge and longitudinal slope. The relationships so developed have been reduced to design charts, the use of which permits rapid and simple establishment of channel shape and size as well as of the properties of the riprap lining.
