Book Synopsis Guidelines for Calibration and Application of STORM by : Jess Abbott
Download or read book Guidelines for Calibration and Application of STORM written by Jess Abbott and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report provides specific information on calibration and application of the Storage, Treatment, Overflow Runoff Model (STORM). The STORM model is intended for use in simulation of the quantity and quality of storm water runoff. In particular, the report discusses procedures for collection of rainfall, runoff quantity and quality data. Procedures are recommended for management of the collected data. Recommendations are provided for use of the site-specific data in calibration of the model. The calibrated model can then be used for two important planning components of a storm water study. These are: (1) Prediction of wet-weather pollutographs (mass loading curves) for use in a receiving water assessment model. These pollutographs can include both surface runoff and dry weather flow in combined systems. Since the computations are based on land use, the impact of land use changes can be evaluated. (2) Preliminary sizing of storage and treatment facilities to satisfy desired criteria for control of storm water runoff. The model will analyze a matrix of combinations of storage and treatment rates. Results include frequency information on quantity and quality of washoff of pollutants and soil erosion, as well as frequency information on the quantity and quality of storage overflows. (Author).

Book Synopsis Urban Stormwater Modeling and Simulation by : Stephan J. Nix
Download or read book Urban Stormwater Modeling and Simulation written by Stephan J. Nix and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-07-13 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urban Stormwater Modeling and Simulation discusses several popular stormwater models and explains a variety of uses in practical terms. This unique book is divided into five key sections and begins with a description of urban runoff problems and how computer models play an important role in problem solving. The book continues with detailed discussions on the construction of watershed models, model verification and validation, the use of models for predicting stormwater runoff and pollution discharges, and common problems associated with popular modeling programs. A practical approach is used throughout the book, focusing on actual applications to illustrate basic principles. This is the first book available that provides both new and experienced engineers, consultants, and scientists with an organized approach to stormwater modeling and simulation, model construction, model verification, and software selection. Water quality professionals, environmental engineering students, technical libraries, regulators, and planners will also find this a perfect hands-on learning tool.

Download or read book Calibration of Watershed Models written by Qingyun Duan and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2003-01-10 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published by the American Geophysical Union as part of the Water Science and Application Series, Volume 6. During the past four decades, computer-based mathematical models of watershed hydrology have been widely used for a variety of applications including hydrologic forecasting, hydrologic design, and water resources management. These models are based on general mathematical descriptions of the watershed processes that transform natural forcing (e.g., rainfall over the landscape) into response (e.g., runoff in the rivers). The user of a watershed hydrology model must specify the model parameters before the model is able to properly simulate the watershed behavior.

Book Synopsis Current Practices in Modelling the Management of Stormwater Impacts by : William James
Download or read book Current Practices in Modelling the Management of Stormwater Impacts written by William James and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-02-07 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This impressive publication presents the proceedings of the 1993 Toronto Stormwater and Water Quality Modelling meeting. The number of papers in the book has been substantially increased and, for the first time, the contributions have been peer reviewed for novelty, accuracy, readability, and relevance. Chapters are arranged in five sections: ecosystem impacts, water quality modelling, new methods and modelling, data management, and current practice. The appendices are valuable research aids, with a detailed index, a substantial glossary encompassing the entire discipline, lists of acronyms, models, and abbreviations, and a complete list of authors cited in the book. The editor also provides a classification of the 485 papers of the 11-year series of conferences held at the University of Kentucky at Louisville.
