More recently, the idea of an innovative enterprise, organization or company has emerged, thanks to an increasing interest in innovation as an essential process in a variety of economic, technological and sociological contexts. This book is part of a set on Innovation between Risk and Reward and focuses on the close relationship between innovation and knowledge. It provides the reader with the outline of an innovative company, focusing on the organizational aspects that contribute to defining it and sketching out the profile of what an innovative company is or should be in the age of knowledge. The authors explore the literary corpus in order to outline the state of the art but also the reality of innovative enterprise in the form of meetings and interviews with both large and small companies.

Book excerpt: Whilst there has been an increased interest in minorities and their contribution to society, the literature on minorities and under-represented communities is still weak. This edited volume discusses entrepreneurship in the context of minorities and the role they play in society. The book looks at under-represented communities such as LGBTQ+, disadvantaged, ethnic minority, religious entrepreneurs, medically limited, indigenous, refugees, young/old and other socio-economic segments. It provides a holistic, comprehensive overview of how diversity in entrepreneurship facilitates increased levels of innovation. The book will be amongst the first to take a broad perspective of minority entrepreneurs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Business logistics has recently been defined as 'the process of managing all activities required to strategically move raw ma terials, parts, and finished inventory from vendors, between enterprise facilities, and to customers' . Many other definitions are available but this definition (1) stresses the fact that logistics concerns the strategical management level in the first place because of the over-all character of logistics and its long-term aspects; too long, emphasis has been laid on the operational aspects of logistics. The heart of the logistics concept is an integrated approach where cost savings are identified by considering the total costs of the system. This approach already implies the need for over-all management since the decisions about the different elements of the logistics system (transportation, inventories, facilities, unitization, communications) are traditionally made within different functions or departments. However, the need for over-all management becomes more stringent where the effectiveness of the company as a whole is considered i. e. where the logistics system has to be brought into balance with the production system and the marketing system (e. g. inventory levels vs. production-run lengths and customer service levels) . All elements of the logistiCS system have long-term aspects which have to be put into a planning system, c.q. the planning of a new transportation method, the planning of a new distribution centre.

This book was released on 2015 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Methodology remains a vital issue at the heart of all scholarly activity. Without a proper appreciation of Research Methodology and its correct application academic progress is not possible. One of the problems which Research Methodology offers the learner is the very wide range of options which are frequently available with which to answer a research question and this high level of choice can lead to indecision and sometimes confusion. This book is a compilation of a number of important papers on this subject selected by two leaders in this field of study. A wide range of topic have been chosen which lead the reader through some of the more important considerations in the field. The book is designed to help with this type of problem and the the current selection of papers which highlight a variety of research questions, problems and issues and an accompanying range of research methods and methodological discussions. Their authors have stated the research positions they have adopted and respective levels of justification and knowledge forms have been presented. These range from those forms of knowledge that might be found of use to practitioners to those that are more philosophically or academically inclined. A certain level of research impact is either implied or overtly presented in the selected papers. This book is an important text for academics, researchers and students as well as those interested in using research from a commercial point of view.

Book excerpt: Since the general acceptance of the field of corporate social responsibility worldwide, corporate entities and those who act for them either as executives or "ordinary" employees are expected to be socially responsible. Being socially responsible has a number of quantifiable and unquantifiable benefits for the entity and its stakeholders. It improves the entity’s bottom line results, protects jobs, and is also better for the environment. As such, it makes good sense for professionals and those that they interact with as colleagues, suppliers of goods and services, lenders etc to want to take the issue of CSR seriously. This perhaps explains why this book has chosen to explore how 19 professions across the world have integrated and continue to impress upon their staff the importance of CSR in their operational activities. We are constantly reminded that our world’s natural resources are exhaustible; we can therefore no longer live for today alone if we do not want to cause substantial problems for future generations.

Book excerpt: This is an open access book.Reinventing Hospitality, Travel, and Event for a Future DirectionThe tourism industry is an important sector in the world, particularly in terms of its ability to create jobs, generate income and contribute to people's well-being. While of its importance, the tourism industry is vulnerable to external disruptions. Historically, the tourism industry has been vulnerable to terrorist attacks, recessions, pandemics, natural disasters, and the effects of climate change. Such challenges have also forced the industry to accelerate innovation and transformation to survive and thrive. Technology and digitalization are more commonly used in businesses and organizations' operations. There are shifts in consumer behavior as a result of disruptions. Travelers demand safer products and services and more efficient ways to travel. New products and services emerge as a result of the disruptions, for example, trends in virtual conferences, cloud kitchens, staycations, and many more.
