Book Synopsis Frontiers of Distance Learning in Business Education by : Hooman Estelami
Download or read book Frontiers of Distance Learning in Business Education written by Hooman Estelami and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-26 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Distance education and online learning are interchangeable terms used to describe the delivery of educational content, whereby the student and the instructor are separated by geography, time, or both. Within the domain of business education, approximately one-third of all business schools offer online business programs, and many more are expected to follow in this direction. Considerable attention is therefore being given by business educators to the refinement of pedagogical approaches in their distance learning offerings. The growth in attention is reflected in the rising number of academic papers related to distance learning methods which appear in leading business journals, as well as the growing number of workshops, research seminars and online forums on the topic. The objective of this book is to consolidate state-of-the-art knowledge on distance learning methods, best practices, and research findings as they relate to online business education. This exposure would help inform business faculty, administrators and course designers on how to optimize distance courses in the various sub-disciplines of business to achieve the most beneficial results for business students.

Book Synopsis Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Design IV by : Weiming Shen
Download or read book Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Design IV written by Weiming Shen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-12-18 with total page 676 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design of complex artifacts and systems requires the cooperation of multidisciplinary design teams using multiple sophisticated commercial and non-commercial engine- ing tools such as CAD tools, modeling, simulation and optimization software, en- neering databases, and knowledge-based systems. Individuals or individual groups of multidisciplinary design teams usually work in parallel and independently with various engineering tools, which are located on different sites, often for quite a long period of time. At any moment, individual members may be working on different versions of a design or viewing the design from various perspectives, at different levels of details. In order to meet these requirements, it is necessary to have efficient comput- supported collaborative design systems. These systems should not only automate in- vidual tasks, in the manner of traditional computer-aided engineering tools, but also enable individual members to share information, collaborate, and coordinate their activities within the context of a design project. Based on close international collaboration between the University of Technology of Compiègne in France and the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Ac- emy of Sciences in the early 1990s, a series of international workshops on CSCW in Design started in 1996. In order to facilitate the organization of these workshops, an International Working Group on CSCW in Design (CSCWD) was established and an International Steering Committee was formed in 1998. The series was converted to int- national conferences in 2000 building on the success of the four previous workshops.

Book Synopsis Innovative Business Education Design for 21st Century Learning by : Peter Daly
Download or read book Innovative Business Education Design for 21st Century Learning written by Peter Daly and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-14 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume explores two aspects of change within higher education: macro factors governing and influencing the institutional environment, and micro issues taking place within the institutions themselves. The first part of the book examines some of the micro issues that influence business and economics pedagogy. It presents reflections and analyses of teaching roles and values, the enhancement of the student learning experience with technology and real world experiences, and what students want and need to learn. The second part of the book looks at the wider institutional environment of change – the shifts in values, new stakeholders, and a change of focus toward developing skills students need to succeed in business. The book highlights the inter-related nature of these changes and shows that both aspects are important in motivating and inspiring students to be able participants in a 21st century global society. Its focus on interdisciplinarity, curriculum structures, and changing stakeholders helps to analyse the roles and models of business and economics education in addressing the needs of today’s global environment.
