Book Synopsis Maintenance Scheduling in Restructured Power Systems by : M. Shahidehpour
Download or read book Maintenance Scheduling in Restructured Power Systems written by M. Shahidehpour and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The overall goal of this book is to introduce algorithms for improving the economic posture of a utility company in a restructured power system by promoting cost-effective maintenance schedules. Today, cutting operations and maintenance (O&M) costs and preserving service reliability) are among the top priorities for managers ofutility companies. Preventive maintenance is perhaps the single largest controllable cost ofa utility2 operation. It is perceived that a careful planning and a good coordination among self-interested entities in a restructured power system are essential to achieving an optimal trade-off between the cost ofmaintenance and the service reliability. Traditional maintenance programs in verticall/ integrated utilities relied heavily on time-directed maintenance and manufacturer recommendations. This book offers a logical alternative to traditional electric utility maintenance practices and a basis for maintenance decisions. The book is organized as follows. Chapter I reviews various issues related to the power system operation and presents the role of restructuring in maintenance scheduling. In Chapter II, fundamental topics related to linear and nonlinear systems are reviewed. The duality in linear programming is discussed and integer programming is reviewed. Benders decomposition, Lagrangian relaxation, and Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition are presented. Several examples are given to demonstrate the applications ofdifferent methods. The formulation ofreactive power optimization is discussed which will be used again in Chapter VII.

This book was released on 2005 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report should be of interest to transit bus maintenance managers and others interested in the development of written transit bus maintenance procedures, or "practices," and the sharing of these practices with others in the transit industry. The report provides guidance on how to develop effective transit bus maintenance practices tailored to one's local operating environment. It provides seven sample practices developed using the guidance. Complementing this report is an on-line Web Board sponsored by the Transportation Research Board's Committee on Transit Fleet Maintenance. This Web Board allows transit agencies to post their maintenance practices for others to review, revise as necessary for their own operating conditions, and use. The report provides instructions on how to access the Web Board, use it to develop maintenance practices, and share these practices among transit agencies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In most schools you will probably see one, if not all of the following: Metal detectors to prevent handguns and other weapons from being brought onto school property Students in standardized uniforms to prevent the appearance of gang affiliations Police officers patrolling the property to deter violent activity as well as respond to incidents Such evolutions have forever changed how we view the safety of our students. However, the phrase "school safety" goes beyond these issues of security put in place to protect students, faculty, and staff. Environmental factors also play a role. The Comprehensive Handbook of School Safety expands the dialogue on school safety to comprehensively address the spectrum of safety risks such as bullying, fire safety, playground and transportation safety, and more. Based on research and practical experience, it helps school administrators develop appropriate programs that protect all individuals from harm. Author E. Scott Dunlap brings his experience in OSHA and DOT compliance, behavior-based safety, and organizational safety culture to bear on the issue of school safety. He presents school safety from a holistic perspective and details vulnerability assessment tools and incident investigation forms to help schools develop a comprehensive safety program. By focusing on this range of issues, the book’s dynamic perspective puts the keys to achieving an effective safety program within easy reach.
