La monographie de Louis Mercier est capitale pour connaître et comprendre les ressources que le Glossaire est en mesure d'apporter à l'histoire et à la recherche. En reconstituant l'histoire complète de l'entreprise, il ne laisse dans l'ombre aucun aspect de la genèse du répertoire. Nous lui sommes redevables d'une analyse méticuleuse et passionnante qui aurait pu être austère mais qui est en fait vivante et chaleureuse. Il a su nous rendre cette aventure presque familière et nous faire partager son admiration pour tous les protagonistes.
