This book was released on 1994-10-25 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings treat the production of high energy gamma rays and particles (mesons and dileptons) in heavy ion reactions from energies of about 30 MeV·A to a few GeV·A, and its application to the study of the Nuclear Equation of State from both the experimental and theoretical points of view. Giant resonances, intensity interferometry, meson fotoproduction and applications of intermediate energy heavy ion beams are also discussed.

Book Synopsis PHYSICS FOR ENGINEERS by : VERMA, N.K.
Download or read book PHYSICS FOR ENGINEERS written by VERMA, N.K. and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 633 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics for Engineers is designed to serve as a text for the first course in physics for engineering students of most of the technical universities in India. It can also be used as an introductory text for science graduates. This book, now in its Second Edition, is updated as per the feedback received from the students and faculties. Quite a number of topics have been either revised or updated, of course, maintaining flow and presentation of the book. The present approach is more focused and provides a clear, precise and accessible coverage of fundamentals of physics through succinct presentation, logical organization, and sound pedagogical order. Extensive care has been taken to apprise the students regarding the applied aspects of the concepts in physics. Most of the complex ideas are supported by explanatory figures to make the underlying concepts easy to understand and grasp. At the end of each chapter, numerous short answer questions, multiple choice questions and solved problems are included to brush up the chapter fast, quickly and effectively especially before exams. NEW TO THIS EDITION • Several new Short Questions and Solved Problems are added. • Some of the chapters are redesigned to make it more comprehensive and informative. • New topics have been added in Chapters 1, 3, 4, 9, 11, 17, 18 and 19. • A new appendix on Lorentz Force Equation is also included.

Book Synopsis The Nuclear Fission Process by : Cyriel Wagemans
Download or read book The Nuclear Fission Process written by Cyriel Wagemans and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-09-20 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text provides a comprehensive review of knowledge regarding nuclear fission from both the purely scientific and practical points of view. Topics discussed include fission barriers, spontaneous fission, neutron-induced fission cross-sections, photon- and electron-induced fission, charged particle induced fission fragment angular momentum and ternary fission. The characteristics of other reaction products are also discussed. Contributed articles from several distinguished nuclear scientists guarantee adequate treatment of some of the specialized research fields included in the text. Intended primarily as an introduction to nuclear fission for graduate students, this book will also provide useful information for nuclear physicists involved with research or teaching.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Observation of discrete energy electromagnetic emissions from celestial objects in the radio, IR, optical, lN, and X-ray spectral regions has dramatically advanced our know ledge in the field of astrophysics. It is expected that identification of nuclear 'Y-ray line emissions from any cosmic source would also prove to be a powerful new tool for probing the Universe. Since the publication of Morrison's work in 1958, many experiments were carried out searching for evidence of 'Y-ray lines from cosmic sources, however with little success. Only a few positive experimental results have been reported, in spite of an expenditure of considerable effort by many people: in particular, the possible Galactic Center emission line (473 to 530keV) and 'Y-ray lines at several energies (e. g. , 0. 5 MeV and 2. 2 MeV) associated with large solar flares. Both of these observations are unconfirmed by indepen dent observations (ca. 1975). The high energy 'Y-rays (>30MeV) from the Galactic Center are at least partly due to the decay of 1[0 mesons, which are of unique energy (67. 5 MeV) in the 1[0 rest frame only. The reasons for the limited amount of data avail able in this field, even though early theoretical predictions were very optimistic regarding fluxes of nuclear lines, are that experimental efforts are plagued with high backgrounds and low fluxes, and that development of instruments with telescopic properties in the energy range of interest is difficult.
