Book Synopsis Effects of High Accelerations and Heat Fluxes on Nucleate Boiling of Water in an Axisymmetric Rotating Boiler by : P. J. Marto
Download or read book Effects of High Accelerations and Heat Fluxes on Nucleate Boiling of Water in an Axisymmetric Rotating Boiler written by P. J. Marto and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stable boiling in a rotating cylindrical annulus with continuous through-flow of water was obtained at heat fluxes as high as 818 000 Btu/(hr)(ft^2) (2. 58 MW/m^2) at atmospheric pressure. Incipient- and nucleate -boiling heat -transfer coefficients were obtained at accelerations up to 400 g's. Measurements were made of void fractions, radial temperature profiles, and wall pressures in the boiling fluid. Convective secondary-flow cells and fluid temperature inversions were revealed. Increased fluid thicknesses increased heat-transfer coefficients, but inlet liquid subcooling had no effect. Coefficients increased with acceleration at low heat fluxes, but at high fluxes varied less than the usual data scatter.

Download or read book Transport Processes in Boiling and Two-phase Systems, Including Near-critical Fluids written by Yih-Yun Hsu and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents concise views of current theories on boiling and two-phase flow and on supercritical heat transfer. The mechanisms of these two modes of heat transfer are compared and contrasted. The theories propose to interpret the observed phenomena from a mechanistic viewpoint, with supporting correlations and equations. Each subsection includes a summary and reference list, and nomenclatures are provided for each major section.
Book Synopsis Convective Boiling and Condensation by : John Gordon Collier
Download or read book Convective Boiling and Condensation written by John Gordon Collier and published by McGraw-Hill International Book Company. This book was released on 1981 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On its original publication in 1973, this book was the first reference for engineers to fully present the science of boiling and condensation. It dealt especially with the problems of estimating heat transfer rates and pressure drops, with particular attention to the occurrence of boiling and condensation in the presence of forced flows within pipes. The new third edition was written primarily for design and development engineers in the chemical process, power generation, and refrigeration industries, and is meant to be an aid in the design of heat exchangers. It covers recent advances and significantly broadens coverage to flows over tube bundles, with extensive new treatment of two-phase heat transfer regarding refrigerants and petrochemicals. Many new problems have been added at the end of each chapter to enhance the book's use as a text in advanced courses on two-phase flow and heat transfer. Instructors using the book as a course text may obtain full solutions to the end-of-chapter problems by writing to: Science Marketing Dept., Oxford University Press, 198 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016 (please include school name and course identification), or by faxing (212) 726-6442.
