The story is seen through the eyes of a young adult Blue Whale named Kip. Among his tales are the history of his pod family and their amazing survival from extinction, encounters with his ocean friends, and a single dangerous enemy. Startling news from the humans atop the water brings a life threatening message to Kip and all ocean life. Kip and the voices from the ocean's creatures tell of the future for the planet due to the unbalance caused by pollution, wars, and ocean acidification, all which lead back to mankind. Book excerpt: It seemed since the day I was created that everything was set in stone. My monthly to yearly routines of finding that once person to share the same fate as I have for the rest of eternity, and then move on to the next just to do it all over again felt like nothing more than just a mundane job. But from the moment I was told about a girl named Anna, I knew this was different, this time I had to protect the only person on earth who stood between living to see another day or having a knife stabbed in my heart. The only problem is...she has no idea what's coming.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: sions of Eternity is the companion volume to Prophets without Honour (Matador, 2011) which explored the forgotten mélodies of Charles-Marie Widor, Louis Vierne and Charles Tournemire. The present work continues that study but with regard to the largely unknown choral works and operas by these same composers: it also expands upon the mores of Parisian Musical society, 1870-1939, and discusses in greater detail than before the prevalent influences and restrictions, which might have had a bearing on a young composer. Widor’s printed and unpublished works are discussed, as are those of his pupil Louis Vierne alongside a more detailed, and possibly provocative, discussion of the latter’s life and loves, and their relevance to that composer’s compositions. His completely unknown ‘cantate lyrique’ Praxinoë is also revealed. The greater part of Visions of Eternity is given over to a discussion of the influences that affected another of Widor’s pupils, Charles Tournemire, in both temporal and theological terms. His individual musical language, discussing both his use of traditional Latin and Indian chants, quixotic character and amours are also investigated. This is a book of great musical relevance, for it deals with composers and issues which greatly influenced later French musicians, particularly Maurice Duruflé, Jean Yves Daniel-Lesur, Jean Langlais and Olivier Messiaen: these, in turn, passed their knowledge to more contemporary composers. Whilst this book has been researched in great depth, its content is delivered with a light, occasionally humorous touch. This is not a dry, academic work, but one for both the cognoscenti and enthusiast alike.

Book excerpt: Harry Turtledove hailed Island in the Sea of Time as “one of the best time travel/alternative history stories I’ve ever read,” and Jane Lindskold called Against the Tide of Years “another exciting and explosive tale.” Now the adventures of the Nantucket islanders lost in the time of the Bronze Age continues with On the Oceans of Eternity. Ten years ago, the twentieth century and the Bronze Age were tossed together by a mysterious Event. In the decade since, the Republic of Nantucket has worked hard to create a new future for itself, using the technological know-how retained from modern times to explore and improve conditions for the inhabitants of the past. Some of these peoples have become allies. Some have turned instead to the renegade Coast Guard officer William Walker. And for ten years, the two sides have tested each other, feinting and parrying, to decide who will be the ones to lead this brave new world into the future. Now the official battle lines have been drawn. And only one side can emerge the victor…

Knowing that their secret is out and that her husband will be plotting revenge, the Marquis casts about desperately for a way to avoid the scandal, which he knows is inevitable despite the wealth and good looks that have made him a darling of the Beau Monde. Seeing a perfect solution, he decides to offer marriage to the Duke of Dawlish's daughter and leaves for the country. Surely the Duke will be grateful for his daughter to make such a match? There is only one problem - marrying the Duke's daughter might provide a way out of his current dilemma, but having met her the Marquis is dismayed by her dullness. Horrified at the sacrifice he would have to make, he suddenly realises that there is another way to put the cuckolded husband off the scent and preserve his freedom - as long as he can find a young woman happy to go along with his seemingly foolproof idea. Eager to renew his acquaintance with Ajanta Tiverton, the beautiful daughter of a local Vicar, the Marquis hurtles to the Vicarage to tell her his plan and the role that only she can play. Certain that this will get him out of immediate danger and sure that he can offer an attractive financial incentive to help the impoverished family, it seems that if their daring charade is successful everyone involved will benefit. All Ajanta has to do is play her part and all will be well. Swept into a rich luxurious world they have never known before, the Marquis sets out to charm the Vicar and Ajanta's sisters. Delighted by their new surroundings and excited by the attention of the eloquent Marquis they cannot believe the happiness Ajanta has bought into their lives. But the Marquis is not the only one masking the truth - Ajanta too has a family secret she would prefer not to share and, as the deception continues and feelings run high, she cannot help but worry what will happen in the final Act of their play and where the curtain will fall.

Book excerpt: Steve Orlen is the foremost contemporary embodiment of the poetic legacy of Randall Jarrell. Orlen's poems are more streetwise, but they have Jarrell's sad, wise eyes, the not-quite-jaded wonder, the vision of our folly which both sees and forgives. And the voice, in its alloy of the ruthless and the sentimental, is Jarrellian, a vehicle of such casual, confiding earnestness, one hardly notices the many chord changes, the masterful loosening and tightening of the narrative coils. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written for both the new churchgoer and the senior churchgoer. It begins with a history of the church and leads into how the church leadership of today operates. This book was written to show that there is no such thing as a perfect church, but there is a church that should be striving toward perfection. This book allows its readers to test their church to ensure that sound Christian doctrine is being taught and put to the test. As stated earlier, there is no perfect church; every church has issues that must be dealt with, and this book covers many of those issues through a firsthand account and gives actions that can help eliminate these troublesome areas. It also deals with what a healthy church looks like and how to get to that point. As the church body, our greatest job is to share the good news of Jesus with everyone that we can. This book includes a chapter on evangelism and easy methods that can be used by individuals and the church as a whole. In summary, this book is about the history of the church and what God intended the church to be and how many times we fall short. The good news is that there is hope for our churches today; we just need our members to be on fire for Jesus and become servant-hearted workers in the church.

"Mr. Eternity will be sizzling in my brain for a long time." -Lauren Groff Key West, 2016. Sea levels are rising, coral reefs are dying. In short, everything is going to hell. It's here that two young filmmakers find something to believe in: an old sailor who calls himself Daniel Defoe and claims to be five hundred and sixty years old. In fact, old Dan is in the prime of his life -- an incredible, perhaps eternal American life. The story unfolds over the course of a millennium, picking up in the sixteenth century in the Viceroyalty of New Granada and continuing into the twenty-sixth, where, in the future Democratic Federation of Mississippi States, Dan serves as an advisor to the King of St. Louis. Some things remain constant throughout the centuries, and being on the edge of ruin may be one. In 1560, the Spaniards have destroyed the Aztec and Inca civilizations. In 2500, we've destroyed our own: the cities of the Atlantic coast are underwater, the union has fallen apart, and cars, plastics, and air conditioning are relegated to history. But there are other constants too: love, humor, and old Dan himself, always adapting and inspiring others with dreams of a better life. An ingenious, hilarious, and genre-bending page-turner, Mr. Eternity is multiple novels in one. Together they form an uncommon work -- about our changing planet and its remarkable continuities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When theology begins with God’s eternal will and knowledge, determinism results. In God in Eternity and Time, eminent scholar Robert Picirilli argues that we should look first to God’s creation and the incarnation—to the created order where God has chosen to act and reveal himself. As God’s decrees and foreknowledge in eternity are then read in light of his acts within time, his interactions with human beings on the personal level clearly reveal themselves. God in Eternity and Time is divided into two sections. The first part explores how God speaks and acts in creation. The second carefully examines foreknowledge and “middle knowledge” to demonstrate the fallacy of logical arguments against freedom based on foreknowledge. Based on these two sections, the reader will discover Picirilli’s fresh argument for libertarian human freedom.
