Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Beautiful Blonde Library Angel is about my spiritual journey to being reborn. This spiritual journey started with the discovery of The Beautiful Blonde Library Angel. The Beautiful Blonde Library Angel was to be my guiding light out of my fall into my pit of darkness. My fall into my pit of darkness was due to the return of my migraines that were to lead me to losing out on my future as a truck driver. My losing out on my future as a truck driver meant my returning to work, and returning to work meant a return to dealing with humanity and my social anxiety. My fall into my pit of darkness was about my seeing no hope for a brighter future. Then I started my spiritual journey of rebirth. This spiritual journey of being reborn is about how The Beautiful Blonde Library Angel led to my passion for writing.

Book Synopsis The Bamboo Blonde by : Dorothy B. Hughes
Download or read book The Bamboo Blonde written by Dorothy B. Hughes and published by Wildside Press LLC. This book was released on 2018-02-22 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Con Satterlee picked up the half-intoxicated blonde in the Bamboo Bar, Griselda was annoyed. When he walked out with the blonde, leaving Griselda flat, she was furious. She was frightened, too, returning alone to the isolated, ramshackle beach cottage. And this was to have been their second honeymoon! Con came back rattling a handful of shells which he said he had taken from the blonde’s revolver. But the blonde didn’t come back. The police found her corpse the next morning. And then Con was arrested. That left Griselda alone, behind a door with a lock that a bent hairpin could open. Quite defenseless, she had to face the sinister Major Pembrooke, who wanted something from Con; beautiful, lying Kathie; Dare, so very possessive as far as Con was concerned; and the debonair Kew, who was intent on helping Griselda, for selfish reasons.

Book Synopsis Jehan Et Blonde, Poems, and Songs by : Philippe de Remi Beaumanoir (sire de)
Download or read book Jehan Et Blonde, Poems, and Songs written by Philippe de Remi Beaumanoir (sire de) and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2001 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jehan et Blonde is the second somewhat better-known of Philippe de Remi's two verse romances. It is presented here in a scholarly edition accompanied by a facing translation into English and an ample commentary. In addition, this volume contains the rest of Philippe's works as preserved in the unique manuscript, Paris BNF fr. 1588: eight substantial verse compositions offering much variety in length, tone, and content. Two other bodies of work are also included: eleven songs in BNF fr. 24006 (of which ten are surely by him) and the series of 'Resveries' in BNF fr. 837 now generally ascribed to him. The volume, a companion to Le Roman de la Manekine (1999), rounds out the complete works of this 13th-century land-holder, professional administrator, family man, gifted amateur writer, and lover of literature. It includes the first English translation of Jehan et Blonde and is the only edition of Philippe's works to contain the songs and the 'Resveries.' It should be of interest to specialists in medieval French romance and lyric verse, and also to general readers of medieval narrative who find English translations useful.

Download or read book Monster/Beauty written by Joanna Frueh and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2001-02-19 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book is as seductive as the phenomenon that it explores. With courage, love, and joy, Frueh crosses into unexplored terrains of beauty and pleasure, where she finds a grotesquely captivating creature: Monster/Beauty. By illuminating her journey with thoughtful insight and engaging prose, she encourages readers to join her in her quest to articulate fresh ways of thinking about the aesthetic and the erotic and of theorizing the flux of lived experience." —John Alan Farmer, senior editor of Art Journal "Monster/Beauty is a daringly provocative experiment in personal and erotic writing and an important book for anyone interested in breaking normative codes of beauty, pedagogy, and authorial methodology. In a richly self-revealing text, Frueh proposes nothing less than a Rabellaisian re-ordering of aesthetic embodiments within social relations." —Mira Schor, author of Wet: On Painting, Feminism, and Art Culture "Giving new meaning to "embodied writing," this book goes farther than any other toward getting the body into the text. Joanna Frueh is a performance artist first-she is also an art historian, a singer, a poet, a bodybuilder, a professor, an academic celebrity of modest fame, but her performances collapse these distinctions. Frueh's intensely personal, intensely physical prose brings an aura of presence to the book that rivals the effect she achieves on stage." —Robyn Warhol, co-editor of Feminisms "This book is monstrous--full of gorgeous hypermuscular women, step-mothers, and vampires; full of ravishing muscular sex, classroom erotics, splendid aging. It is a performance in which Frueh explores and celebrates her body, its powers and beauties, and those of her friends and lovers." —Alphonso Lingis, author of Excesses, Abuses, and Dangerous Emotions "A welcome voice in contemporary feminist theory, Frueh's Monster/Beauty reminds us of the pleasures of thinking, teaching and creating in wholly embodied, sensual and passionate acts. Frueh poetically enacts the self as an aesthetic/erotic project, affirming the many different and beautiful selves we can become. It is a joy to read." —Marsha Meskimmon, author of We Weren't Modern Enough: Women Artists and the Limits of German Modernism "Joanna Frueh is a hero. I sleep better knowing she's out there writing and thinking." —Michael Cunningham, author of The Hours
