A documentary of Rhonda Knight's story was just filmed by the Discovery Channel and it will air in 3 Countries in the Fall of 2013! Blessed Survivor is a MUST READ! This book is not just an ordinary book. It is an actual account of my surviving attempted murder and rape and as the cover depicts, being stabbed in the eye among other horrific things and it embraces my journey with the incredible challenges I faced that had me wondering if I was going insane or what! So yes it is a "true story" novel that will captivate you but yet it is so much more... It is divinely inspired and written to bring the reader into my reality and into the realm of personal and Spiritual awakening in your own soul. This book is not a book written just for women although a woman can relate to it and it is not written for other survivors only but it is inspiration to know you can make it too with proper direction and help as you follow the road map laid out in it. This book is not just for Christians even though it is definitely the love and grace of God that kept me and I am a Christian which I proudly yet humbly proclaim. You may be a person who doesn't know God or you may not understand a lot about Him but this book will bring you into a place of understanding and of witnessing His mercy and miracles in my life which can certainly joyfully manifest in your life as well. IT IS a book for EVERYONE that has compassion for another human being. It is also written for anyone who has faced any type of challenges in their own life whether on a small or large scale. And yes it is a book written for those who just love to read but don't be surprised if you have a life impacting experience from it. There is a reason you're reading this right now; God has a reason for sharing this part of my life with you. Read this book and if it ultimately blesses you then share it with others; lend it out, give a copy as a gift or tell them where they can purchase a copy of this book for themselves. Thanks and God bless you, sincerely from my heart... Blessed Survivor

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story is a personal testimony of God's amazing and intimate work in my life. Despite a haunting childhood and struggles in my adult years, God has blessed my journey tremendously. Even though I have been a Christian for most of my days, there were decades that all I could see were the trials. I felt distanced from God, yet, at the same time I knew that He was my only hope. So I blamed myself for the disconnection and my many shortcomings. I tried hard to be a "good Christian" but continually failed, damaging my marriage and maligning my parenting. Counseling had helped some, but turmoil still raged within me. I sank increasingly deeper into depression and anxiety while striving to be everything I thought others expected of me. Yet, all the while God was conscious of my struggles. Even more, He was actively interceding on my behalf. Well before I was conscious of it, God was sustaining me through the turmoil and fortifying me for my biggest challenge to date. When I felt at my weakest, God proved faithful to His promise of comfort and strength. Not only did He carry me, He championed my victory over the hold that darkness once had on my past. In an amazing way that only God could orchestrate, He redeemed my existence and set me free with new found joy and purpose. I now feel His love, His grace, and His power in a way that I never could before. The journey was challenging to say the least, but I wouldn't trade this walk with God for anything. My hope is that those who read my story will find encouragement and leave its pages in awe of the Great Father God, Savior Son, and Empowering Holy Spirit, Who are worthy of all praise.

Book excerpt: When Gail Hovey was a teenager, her local Presbyterian church hired Georgia, a seminary-trained Christian education director. Brilliant and charismatic, Georgia used the language of faith to seduce several of her students, swearing each to secrecy. When she eventually abandoned the others and focused on Gail, Gail believed herself uniquely blessed and for the next 15 years modeled her life on Georgia's--the seminary degree, the minister husband. The relationship had a profound and lasting influence on the woman Gail became and left her a legacy of guilt and shame. Shedding light on the largely invisible issue of sexual abuse of girls by women, Hovey's brave memoir relates her decades-long journey--from East Harlem to South Africa to Brooklyn--to break free of an overwhelmingly powerful and deeply destructive first love.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story is about a child that was never expected to survive polio and the support that his parents and others gave him through his recovery. It is also about God's hand in the miracle of life and the blessings of his foundation in God and the teachings of the Bible. In the darkest time of his illness, God reached into a gray–black lake and brought him back to life. This story describes how his family remained ever hopeful for his recovery even when being told he had died and later being told he would only live for a few more days. Within days of being told he was still alive, his parents were informed his life expectancy would be a few months or years. Without their belief in hard work, self-reliance, and God's plan, they would never have been able to cope with the severity of bulbar polio. His family's strong belief that God had a plan for them gave him hope that would lead him through the recovery process. It tells the story of what the poliovirus did to him physically, mentally, and spiritually and how he and his family responded to it. God never left their side through the exhausting trials of learning to speak and move again. This story also explains the long-lingering effects of post-polio syndrome and how it still plays a role in his life and as well as many other survivors. Throughout the story, hope is ever-present in him, and it reflects how hope gave him the strength to survive and improve through the pain of the recovery process.

Book excerpt: About The Author My life story is to encourage every woman, man, daughter, son, pastor, teacher, preacher, evangelist, and all those in leadership. My life was a forty-year mystery until I recently found out where I really was in life. God allowed my life to unfold at the age of forty. With the help of God's Word, I survived through many real-life challenges and oppositions that were meant to take me out of here. God has kept me through very rough times through the years. Sometimes I had no job and no income to help raise my two children. I have lived with the favor of God in my life for the past seven years, totally depending on the Lord for everything. I know what it is like being a single parent raising children, not knowing where your next meal will come from day to day and not knowing where you will live. But through the grace of God He gave me divine favor and kept me in very crucial times of my life. While working for the Lord in full-time ministry, evangelizing everywhere, the Lord would send me to do His work faithfully-witnessing to His people in the streets, the shelters, the prisons, and throughout the rough part of Philadelphia, PA, where I was raised. As you read my life story you will see how you, too, can survive through anything with the Lord on your side. You can email the author at [email protected]. Norris-Bernal and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-02 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why yet another book about forgiveness? Abundant literature, written from Christian and other spiritual perspectives, is available specifying why forgiving those who offend us results in such improved physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual health. What makes this book unique, however, is that it deals strictly with survivors of child abuse and the profound ways that they are affected for life without some type of intervention. Learning to forgive, healing from abuse, and trusting/finding intimacy with Father God are three processes that are difficult, if not impossible, for most survivors of child abuse to experience. The power inherent in forgiveness contributes enormously to healing for deep wounds and the realization of true intimacy with the One we are privileged to call Abba, Father. Many survivors' highly personal, deeply sensitive, and incredibly dramatic accounts of abuse suffered, their choices to forgive, their experiences of deep healing, and ultimately the fulfillment of lifelong desires for closeness with God are documented in Forgiving Others and Trusting God . . . Handbook for Survivors of Child Abuse. You will find these accounts both inspirational and unforgettable! Even if you never were victimized as a child, you will gain plenty of hands-on, practical tools to assist in your own journey from overcoming any emotional or spiritual obstacles and hindrances to forgiving others and trusting God. J. E. Norris-Bernal, M.S., was a Marriage and Family Therapist for over 20 years and an active member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Ms. Norris-Bernal is currently a college professor teaching English and Psychology courses. She is also a Christian life coach for local and long-distance clientele. Prior to her work as a mental health professional, Ms. Norris-Bernal was a professional editor for 10 years. She resides in Arizona with her husband, and they have three adult children living in Southern California.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WINNER OF THE WORD GUILD 2019 CHRISTIAN LIVING BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD "The pages you are about to read may feel like a literal rescue." —Ann Voskamp, New York Times Bestselling author Survival Guide for the Soul is a profound spiritual exploration of God's love—a love that many of us understand intellectually without fully grasping or relying on in our day-to-day experiences—a love that fills our sails with joy and frees us to truly flourish. Many of us are driven by an ambition to accomplish something big outside ourselves. On all sides, we're pressured to achieve—professionally, socially, financially. Even when we're aware of this pressure, it can be hard to escape the vicious circles of accomplishment, frustration, and spiritual burn-out. Drawing on a wide range of sources from Scripture to church history to psychology and modern neuroscience—as well as deeply personal stories from his own life—Ken Shigematsu, recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal and pastor of Tenth Church in Vancouver, BC, vividly demonstrates how the gospel redeems our desires and reorders our lives. Pastor Shigematsu offers fresh perspective on how certain spiritual practices help orient our lives so that our souls can flourish in the midst of a demanding, competitive society. And he concludes with a liberating and counter-cultural definition of true greatness. If you long to experience a deeper relationship with Christ within the daily pressures to succeed, Survival Guide for the Soul is packed with biblical wisdom and a godly approach to transcend the human tendency to define ourselves by our productivity and success. "Loaded with practical insights and encouraging thoughts, every reader will benefit from Ken's work." —Max Lucado, New York Times Bestselling author

Book excerpt: For the most part, there was nothing particularly unusual about Jean Potters life. Going right to work after graduating from high school, she spent most of her career as an executive assistant in several large New York-based companies. In fact, she was working for the managing director of Bank of America in its offices on the eighty-first floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. By the Grace of God is Jeans storyfrom her upbringing in Brooklyn, New York, to her jobs as assistant to several high-level executives, to her courtship and marriage to a New York City fireman, to setting up a home in Battery Park City, to that horrific day when she and her co-workers had to make their way down eighty-one flights of stairs in a desperate effort to escape the collapse of the North Tower. Its the story, too, of her husband, Dan, seeing flames erupting from the World Trade Center, and racing from Staten Island to Manhattan determined to help her, but, recognizing his duty as a fireman, stopping to help others even while he anguished over his wifes fate. Its also the story of the extraordinary effect living through that day had on both of their liveshaving to cope with the effects of post traumatic stress disorder; moving because they could no longer live in a home haunted by three thousand ghosts; giving up their jobs, Jean because she could no longer bear working in New York City and Dan because hed been hurt in the collapse of the South Tower; and having to leave the city they had grown up in and loved. Perhaps most important, By the Grace of God is the story of how their faith enabled them to come to terms with their experience and to find a new life of love, hope, and healing.
