This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 714 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this compilation has been to provide a comprehensive, non critical source of information concerning organometallic compounds. The scope is limi~ed to the compounds containing at least one carbon-metal bond. The information includes methods of preparation, properties, chemical reactions, and applications. The First Edition comprised the literature from 1937 to 1958. The Second Edition is completely revised and extended through 1964. The literature prior to 1937 was thoroughly covered by E. Krause and A. von Grosse in ''Die Chemie der metall-organischen Verbindungen," Verlag von Gebrueder Borntraeger, Berlin, 1937. Our work consists of three volumes. Volume I contains derivatives of the transition metals of Groups III through VIII of the Periodic Table. Volume II contains derivatives of germanium, tin, and lead. Volume III contains derivatives of arsenic, antimony, and bismuth. The compilation is based on searches through Chemical Abstracts. The collection of references for 1964 was completed before the Subject Indexes to Volumes 60 and 61 of the Abstracts were available; thus some omissions in the coverage of that year are possible. We have attempted to make the .. coverage of the literature complete in order that the compilation may have best ~i1ity to the chemist, chemical engineer, patent attorney, and editor. In the interest of brevity, certain numerical data are omitted, but references to the original literature are given. Yield data are rounded to two significant figures. Wherever possible, tables have been used. The entries in the Bibliography section include references to Chemical Abstracts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is devoted to the research area regarding the biological properties of metal alkyl derivatives, offering an authoritative account of this subject by 16 scientists. In 11 chapters, Biological Properties of Metal Alkyl Derivatives highlights, in detail, derivatives of germanium, tin, lead, arsenic, antimony, selenium, tellurium, cobalt (vitamin B12 derivatives) and nickel (coenzyme F430), including the role of (mainly) micro-organisms in their formation. The derivatives of indium, thallium, bismuth, various transition metals and mercury are also covered to some extent, as are those of the non-metals silicon, phosphorus and sulfur, and the haloperoxidase route of the biogenesis of halomethanes by fungi and plants. The properties of these alkyl derivatives, their biosynthesis, including mechanistic aspects, their appearance in waters (rivers, lakes, oceans) and sediments, and their physiological and toxic effects are summarized.

Book excerpt: Lead covers the salient aspects of the chemistry of lead, its environmental impact, and its effects on health. The technical, economic and social importance of Lead, at the present time, is beyond all doubt. However, over the last few decades little attention has been given to its behaviour (the properties and applications of its compounds, the environmental distribution of these derivatives, and their impacts on living creatures), this book addresses that gap. It includes coverage of historical aspects, lead mining and production, metal properties, common lead compounds, uses of lead and its derivatives, coordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry, environmental chemistry, toxicity mechanisms, and treatment strategies for lead poisoning. Finally, describing analytical procedures for the determination of lead in chemical, biological and environmental samples. Written by a team of university teachers and researchers with extensive experience in the fields of the chemistry, analytical determination and environmental and health impact of lead and other heavy metals For readers interested in the chemistry and biochemistry of lead and its effects on ecosystems Provides comprehensive knowledge about lead toxicity and preventive measures against lead poisoning
