JP was a staunch Marxist but joined the freedom movement with Indian National Congress on the invitation of Jawaharlal Nehru. He was also engaged in many revolutionary activities and even raised the 'Freedom Brigade'. He was arrested many times and spent many years of his life in various jails of India. He differed with the Congress on the matter of Partition of India and ultimately parted ways with the Congress to form the Praja Socialist Party. Later, he left active politics and joined the 'Bhoodan Movement' of Acharya Vinoba Bhave and Sarvodaya work. In the late 60's and 70's he was again active in mass movements in Gujarat and Bihar. He was again arrested during the 'Emergency' promulgated by Indira Gandhi. The inside pages consist of an inspiring account of his life-how a humble village boy of Bihar rose to become a 'Lok Nayak' or 'The People's Hero' of India.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few figures in modern India have enjoyed such acclaim and adoration as Jayaprakash Narayan. And yet, he has been equally vilified for all that went wrong in the unfinished post-colonial movement for freedom and democracy. Jayaprakash Narayan, or JP as he was universally known, epitomized the Marxian and Gandhian styles of political engagement, and famously brought a powerful government to its knees. Throughout his life, he channelled an emotional hunger for transformative politics, jettisoned easy options, shunned power and incubated revolutionary ideas. A comprehensive study of JP's life and ideas-from the radicalism of his thought process at American university campuses in the 1920s to his political coming of age in the 1930s and subsequent disenchantment with Gandhi's leadership; from his infectious confidence about the future of socialism to his seemingly naive plans to outmanoeuvre powerful forces within the Congress; from his fractious friendship with Jawaharlal Nehru to his relentless crusade against the stifling of dissent-The Dream of Revolution, Bimal and Sujata Prasad's rigorously researched biography of JP, dispenses with clichés, questions commonly held perceptions and pushes the limits of what a biographical portrait is capable of. Rich in anecdotes and never-before-told stories, this book explores the ambiguities and ironies of a life lived at the barricades, and one man's unremitting quest to usher in a society based on equality and freedom.

This book was released on 2016 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book Every success story has its price to pay. So did Shatrughan Sinha (SS) who achieved the impossible twice over. The youngest and the most pampered in a family of academics and doctors where four sons were named after the four brothers of the Ramayan, SS stood out defiantly different. He was born for applause and the limelight; he was besotted with Raj Kapoor and cinema. In the face of stiff opposition from disciplinarian father Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Sinha, mother Shyama Devi’s chhutka bauwa (little darling) set out for the Film Institute of India (now FTII) in Poona. Bombay was the next logical destination. Without Kapoorian good looks or any connection with the Hindi film industry, the unknown scarface from Patna went on to create history on celluloid. In politics too, with no known surname or family to power his entry, he set a record as the first film star from India to be sworn-in as a Cabinet Minister. Quotes Anything But Khamosh: The Shatrughan SinhaBiography, is a rivetingly honest read that retraces the hurrahs and heartaches of India’s most popular BihariBabu. “Do not attempt to change him.
