Book excerpt: Das Zusammenspiel von Anlage und Umwelt gehört seit jeher zu den zentralen Themen der Sozial- und Verhaltenswissenschaften. Das sozialwissenschaftliche Verständnis der Anlage-Umwelt-Thematik beschränkt sich allerdings meist auf die Annahme, dass beide Einflussgrößen gemeinsam dazu beitragen, wie sich Persönlichkeitsunterschiede manifestieren, entwickeln und unser individuelles und soziales Verhalten beeinflussen. Häufig ist damit die Vorstellung verbunden, Anlage und Umwelt seien letztlich untrennbar und empirische Forschung zu diesem Thema deshalb obsolet. Tatsächlich hat jedoch die seit etwa zwei Jahrzehnten nunmehr auch in Deutschland etablierte verhaltensgenetische Forschung den klaren Nachweis für die überwältigende Bedeutung von Umwelteinflüssen auf die Entstehung individueller Besonderheiten erbracht. Damit haben Verhaltensgenetik und neuerdings auch molekulargenetische Forschungsansätze einen nachhaltigen Beitrag zur Sozialisationsforschung geleistet. Darüber hinaus bieten evolutionspsychologisch orientierte Ansätze weitergehende Einsichten in die Adaptivität menschlichen Verhaltens und Erlebens und belegen damit deren Kontextsensitivität. Dieser Band enthält theoretische und empirische Originalarbeiten, die einen breiten Überblick über die gegenwärtige Anlage-Umwelt-Diskussion bieten. Alle Beiträge gehen von der Prämisse aus, dass die wissenschaftliche Betrachtung der genetischen Grundlagen des Erlebens und Verhaltens Aufschluss über die Bedeutung von genetischen und Umwelteinflüssen gibt.
