Book excerpt: Excerpt from Biennial Report of the Commissioner of State Taxes of the State of Vermont: For the Term Ending, June 30, 1908 The total corporation and collateral inheritance taxes collected during the fiscal years ending June 30, 1899 and 1900 amounted to $415,357.35 and $466,265.01 respectively, while such taxes collected during the fiscal years ending June 30, 1907 and 1908 amounted to $766,734.35 and $931,143.42 respectively, - the amount for the last fiscal year being approximately fifty thousand dollars in excess of the amount collected during the two years composing the biennial term ending June 30, 1900, and substantially twice as much as that collected during the fiscal year ending on the last named date. Review of Legislation since 1900 Affecting Increased Revenue. The rates of taxation for insurance companies, savings banks, trust companies, and savings bank and trust companies, remain the same as in 1900. The basis upon which insurance companies doing business in this state are assessed has not been materially changed.
