This book was released on 2023-10-16 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Critically examining the Western, secular approach to formal education, the author contests the value of an education system focusing solely on the intellectual and physical aspects of human development. The methodological aim and structure of this approach are compared to those of Islam which Dr. Al Zeera notes gives credence to the importance of spiritual and religious factors, as well as scholarly ones, with the overall objective of forming whole and holy human being who, instead of resisting the paradoxes of life, uses their interrelatedness as a means of personal and societal development. One interesting factor examined within the broader framework of the study is the area of female spirituality, an element, which the author argues, is vastly under-represented in prevalent Islamic literature. This study is a holistic view of knowledge and a sociological discussion adopting an unconventional approach of using the author’s own personal experiences as the basis for debate and analysis. We are invited to enter the world of understanding and observation to experience for ourselves an unusual approach to dialectical thinking.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this ground-breaking book, distinguished consultant clinical neurophysiologist Michael Glasby turns to the Bible to ask whether the practices of the Levitical priesthood might in any way have shared features of what we now commonly call 'public healthcare', contributing to the well-being of individuals and society. Is it the case that the priesthood understood some rudimentary elements of healthcare, or is this commonly held view merely the result of modern opinion formed (perhaps inappropriately) through an accumulation of later redaction and exegesis? Michael Glasby, now retired, has held teaching and research posts at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, and London and was latterly Reader in Experimental Neurology in the University of Edinburgh. He is an honorary Fellow of the University of Edinburgh, a Freeman of the City of London and Liveryman of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London. He is a Senior Member, The British Society for Surgery of the Hand. He received his Batchelor of Divinity degree (first class honours) from the University of London in 2009 and his PhD in Divinity from Edinburgh University in 2015.

Book excerpt: "This is not a how-to book on teaching, but one with the daring vision that Christian teaching is a vocation, a high calling, which is empowered by God's Spirit, embodies the gifts of the Spirit, and generates the transformative life-giving fruits of the Spirit. Teaching requires a prophetic and participatory pneumatology whose mission is to touch every dimension of individual, community, and social existence. Teaching is a profound privilege and a responsibility! This volume explains why. "Dr. M. Daniel Carroll R. (Rodas)Blanchard Professor of Old Testament Wheaton College and Graduate School

This book was released on 2001 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines 2 Cor 6:14-7:1 and argues that its theological message is communal holiness. It culminates in an attempt to posit a Pauline theology of corporate sanctification in the Corinthian correspondence. Paul's view of sanctification, it is argued, should be seen as multifaceted: relational, communal, ethical, and mission-oriented. Thus, a coherent picture of Pauline teaching on holiness in the Corinthian correspondence emerges from this book. For Paul, the focus of God's redemptive activity is, primarily, the community and not the individual. Paul's view on holiness has to do with communal holiness within the people of God, the goal of which is to make God known to the wider society. In sum, this book argues that the teaching on holiness should not be, and cannot be, satisfactorily explained in terms of the individual, but only as the individual stands in relation to the community of faith. Thus, the conclusion offers a corrective to some strands of modern interpretation that emphasize the individualistic, experiential aspects of Christian holiness, thus tending to reduce Christian holiness to morality.

As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursued his wife for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades weren't good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the Dean's office for seven days until they finally let him enroll. Bob Goff has become something of a legend, and his friends consider him the world's best-kept secret. Those same friends have long insisted he write a book. Book excerpt: The book is a program which seeks to construct an intellectual framework for Islamic methodology with a view to realizing practical training in the thoughtful investigation of issues related to knowledge in various fields. The book’s title affirms the distinctive types of integration that characterize Islamic methodology, including integration of sources, means, and schools of thought, as well as existing realities with desired ideals etc. This is fully consistent with human nature, as variety is fundamental to the functions people perform and skills they master. The work essentially makes the case that fundamental to any Muslim recovery is laying the foundations of sound thinking and values that integrate the two main sources of knowledge: Revelation and Reality (that is the created worlds both physical, societal and psychological) under the umbrella of Tawhid. This concept of integration implies using both human theoretical conceptualization and practical experimental investigation whilst also affirming the need to apply human capabilities in understanding the divine text, and acquiring sound knowledge of the physical world in terms of its resources, as well as accumulated past and present human experiences. The aim being to vitalize human potential and creativity.
