Book Synopsis Constitutive Properties of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete in Multiaxial Loading by : Hon-Yim Ko
Download or read book Constitutive Properties of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete in Multiaxial Loading written by Hon-Yim Ko and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The constitutive properties of steel fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) are being studied experimentally in a unique fluid cushion multiaxial cubical test cell at the University of Colorado. In the first phase of the program, the behavior of FRC was tested under three-dimensional compressive loading. The strength and stress-strain properties are analyzed by using constitutive models available in the literature. In the second phase, a modification to the existing test apparatus was made for testing cubical specimens under direct tension loading. The modification consists of brushes with individual bristles glued to the specimen. In this paper, results are shown from the biaxial tension-compression test program to demonstrate the strength interaction. (Author).

Book Synopsis Experimental and Theoretical Investigations of Steel-Fibrous Concrete by : Jacek Tejchman
Download or read book Experimental and Theoretical Investigations of Steel-Fibrous Concrete written by Jacek Tejchman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-10-01 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concrete is still the most widely used construction material since it has the lowest ratio between cost and strength as compared to other available materials. However, it has two undesirable properties, namely: low tensile strength and large brittleness that cause the collapse to occur shortly after the formation of the first crack. To improve these two negative properties and to achieve a partial substitute of conventional reinforcement, an addition of short discontinuous randomly oriented steel fibres can be practiced among others. In spite of positive properties, fibrous concrete did not find such acknowledgment and application as usual concrete. There do not still exist consistent dimensioning rules due to the lack sufficient large-scale static and dynamic experiments taking into account the effect of the fibre orientation. The intention of the book is twofold: first to summarize the most important mechanical and physical properties of steel-fibre-added concrete and reinforced concrete on the basis of numerous experiments described in the scientific literature, and second to describe a quasi-static fracture process at meso-scale both in plain concrete and fibrous concrete using a novel discrete lattice model. In 2D and 3D simulations of fibrous concrete specimens under uniaxial tension, the effect of the fibre volume, fibre distribution, fibre orientation, fibre length, fibrous bond strength and specimen size on both the stress-strain curve and fracture process was carefully analyzed.

Book Synopsis Concrete in the Service of Mankind by : Ravindra Dhir
Download or read book Concrete in the Service of Mankind written by Ravindra Dhir and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-04-07 with total page 675 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This third volume of Concrete in the Service of Mankind focuses on appropriate concrete technology. Concrete is ubiquitous and unique, and is found in every developed and developing country. Indeed, there are no alternatives to concrete as a volume construction material for infrastructure. This raises important questions of how concrete should be designed and constructed for cost effective use in the the short and long term, and to encourage further radical development. Equally, it must be environmentally friendly during manufacture, in an aesthetic presentation in structures and in the containment of harmful materials. This book should be of interest to concrete technologists; contractors; civil engineers; consultants; government agencies; research organizations.
Book Synopsis UHPCC Under Impact and Blast by : Qin Fang
Download or read book UHPCC Under Impact and Blast written by Qin Fang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-22 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the Ultra-high Performance Cementitious Composites (UHPCC), which is a relativity new type of cementitious materials. UHPCC has very low water-to-binder ratio, high amount of high-range water reducer, fine aggregates and high-strength steel or organic fibers. With the prominent mechanical properties, e.g., high compressive and tensile strength, high ductility, and high fracture energy, UHPCC has been becoming the most prospective construction cement-based material for both civil and military structures to resist high-speed projectile penetration, low-velocity impact and blast loadings. In this book, the related work conducted by authors on the static and dynamic mechanical properties, as well as the impact and blast resistance of UHPCC are presented. This book is written for the researchers, engineers and graduate students in the fields of protective structures and terminal ballistics.

Download or read book Improving Cementitious Properties of Blended Pozzolan Based Materials for Construction of Low Cost Buildings in Mbeya Region, Tanzania written by Duwa Hamisi Chengula and published by kassel university press GmbH. This book was released on 2018-02-28 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study therefore investigated and improved cementitious properties of pozzolan blended with calcium hydroxide, gypsum and cement in order to extend its use from low strength mortars to concrete works which can be used for low to medium rise structural applications. Characterization, strength tests and durability tests were performed on pozzolan mixtures under laboratory conditions and the effects of adding gypsum to pozzolan and calcium hydroxide mixtures on the compressive strength and durability of cured concrete specimens were investigated.
