Tall, dark and handsome Danny Carlow has always gotten whatever he wants except for the two he desires more than anything-his best friends, lovers Paul and Eve. Determined to claim what was never supposed to be his, Danny waits like a snake in the grass, poised for the right moment to offer them a temptation too delicious to resist. Artist Eve Everton made the painful decision to leave her true love Paul for the siren call of New York City. Now ten years later, with her life in shambles, she returns. When Paul's waiting arms aren't available, Eve falls for Danny's charm and finds herself a willing accomplice in the dangerous games Danny plays. Paul Mattling is a successful attorney with a bright future ahead of him, but behind those brilliant blue eyes are secret desires for a taste of the forbidden. Will he play it safe or give in to Danny and Eve and bite the apple? Reader Advisory: Not for the faint of heart, the pain in this story is vivid and real, the emotions even more so. Haunting and poignant, Beyond Eden presents a darker side of BDSM. You might gasp. You might cry. You might find yourself reading it again and again.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past thirty years biodiversity has become one of the central organizing principles through which we understand the nonhuman environment. Its deceptively simple definition as the variation among living organisms masks its status as a hotly contested term both within the sciences and more broadly. In Eden’s Endemics, Elizabeth Callaway looks to cultural objects—novels, memoirs, databases, visualizations, and poetry— that depict many species at once to consider the question of how we narrate organisms in their multiplicity. Touching on topics ranging from seed banks to science fiction to bird-watching, Callaway argues that there is no set, generally accepted way to measure biodiversity. Westerners tend to conceptualize it according to one or more of an array of tropes rooted in colonial history such as the Lost Eden, Noah’s Ark, and Tree-of-Life imagery. These conceptualizations affect what kinds of biodiversities are prioritized for protection. While using biodiversity as a way to talk about the world aims to highlight what is most valued in nature, it can produce narratives that reinforce certain power differentials—with real-life consequences for conservation projects. Thus the choices made when portraying biodiversity impact what is visible, what is visceral, and what is unquestioned common sense about the patterns of life on Earth.

Book excerpt: A young book editor stumbles up from the site of a bombing in the London subway. He accepts a woman's offer of help and a hot cup of tea. He's never heard from again...A group of boys in upstate New York goes sledding. One doesn't come home...A military convoy approaches a lone figure on a dusty road north of Baghdad. The woman is Army Chaplain Jaime Richards--and it seems she's been gone a lifetime. After two years in paradise, Jaime has chosen to return to the "terris" world as a dual citizen, an Agent of Eden. But soon she will discover that life among mere mortals has become a living hell--and that a series of kidnappings are fatefully and tragically connected. For the victims are all descendants of Eden, and they have the one thing people outside of paradise want: A way to live forever.

Dr. Prathia Laura Ann Hall (1940–2002) had not been the subject of a book-length critical study until Courtney Pace’s Freedom Faith: The Womanist Vision of Prathia Hall was published by the University of Georgia Press in 2019. Now with the publication of Beyond Eden: The Collected Sermons and Essays of Prathia Hall, Pace provides a volume of seminal importance to the fields of womanist theology and ethics, Black church history, and African American history. Beyond Eden explores Hall’s preaching and research, curating a collection of her work to expand scholarship on her influence on American religion and Black churches. Hall pioneered womanist preaching, embodying the necessary interconnections among theology, social science, history, and practical ministry. She was a master organizer, not only leading her congregation but facilitating collaborations among national, regional, and local organizations to serve Black churches and Black communities. The sermons and essays in this volume showcase Hall’s womanist preaching brilliance, the seamless connection between church and the academy in her work, and her understanding of the gospel as Freedom Faith. A trailblazer in the womanist movement of the 1980s and 1990s, Hall merged Christian ethics with Black feminist thought during decades of civil rights activism and preaching. Although she had very few publications due to the demands of her multifaceted vocation, health limitations, and familial responsibilities, her extensive work has been transcribed from handwritten notes and audio recordings by editor Courtney Pace.

Based on more than two years of fieldwork in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Arusha, Tanzania, this book offers an in-depth investigation of the local-to-global dynamics of contemporary tourism. Each destination offers examples that illustrate how tour guide narratives and practices are informed by widely circulating imaginaries of the past as well as personal imaginings of the future.

After all they sacrificed to be together, a life without one another, forever haunted by grief and memories, seems impossible to bear. But they do bear it. They survive. And when they meet by chance years later, happiness, for once, finally seems within their grasp. Still, the past is a bright, burning pain between them, and Calder and Eden cannot truly move on until they lay it to rest. Only, what they discover might drown them for good. .................... Praise for Mia Sheridan: 'The bible to how to write a good, convincing love story' L.J. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Freedom Faith is the first full-length critical study of Rev. Dr. Prathia Laura Ann Hall (1940–2002), an undersung leader in both the civil rights movement and African American theology. Freedom faith was the central concept of Hall’s theology: the belief that God created humans to be free and assists and equips those who work for freedom. Hall rooted her work simultaneously in social justice, Christian practice, and womanist thought. Courtney Pace examines Hall’s life and philosophy, particularly through the lens of her civil rights activism, her teaching career, and her ministry as a womanist preacher. Moving along the trajectory of Hall’s life and civic service, Freedom Faith focuses on her intellectual and theological development and her radiating influence on such figures as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Marian Wright Edelman, and the early generations of womanist scholars. Hall was one of the first women ordained in the American Baptist Churches, USA, was the pastor of Mt. Sharon Baptist Church in Philadelphia, and in later life joined the faculty at the Boston University School of Theology as the Martin Luther King Chair in Social Ethics. In activism and ministry, Hall was a pioneer, fusing womanist thought with Christian ethics and visions of social justice.

"The Power of the Barren Lands may be beyond words but you wonât come any closer than those on the following pagesâ¦" âMONTE HUMMEL West of Hudson Bay in Canadaâs north, an enormous triangle, twice the size of Alberta or Texas, forms the largest chunk of wilderness left on the continent. The word "tundra" may conjure up an image of a desolate, treeless plain, but this mainland portion of the Canadian arctic is far from featureless. The area is home to millions of geese and other birds, and is the haunt of some of the worldâs last, great migratory herds of large herbivores and the predators that follow them. Discovering Eden is a collection of stories, essays and commentaries about the authorâs life in the remote wilderness and his hopes and dreams for its future. It is about the land and the animals that live there, and what they have taught the author. Throughout the book the author tries to explain, within the limitations of language, the lure of the Barren Lands and why this place became for him a personal Eden. The book also recounts adventuresâa personal, inner one for the author, and the thrill of canoeing this untouched wilderness for those who travel with him on his tours.(September 2003)

Looking for an escape from his demons, Paul has his own deviant secrets, ones he doesn't want anyone, especially Danny, to know about. When dark desires are accidentally revealed, Danny and Paul end up coming together in a clash of wild passion more tumultuous than either of them could have anticipated.
