Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is Your Money Slipping Away from You? Our finances are our most important asset, and as such they require careful, complete attention. With the myriad of expenses in our world, the constant access to online stores, and the simplicity of spending money (through plastic and instant online transactions) without having a quantity of physical cash to monitor, it's all too easy to lose track of how much money we have and where it goes. And that's not even considering that complicated, dangerous cycle of credit reliance so many of us have fallen victim to. Consider These Questions: Do you know your financial situation at all times? Do you know how much money you net every month after gross and expenses? Do you have a set budget plan to keep a positive interval in place? Do you ever miss payments? Do you know how much money you need to "break even" after expenses monthly? These may seem intensive, but they're absolutely vital questions to address. If you aren't aware of these factors, how is it possible to know if you're making enough to support your lifestyle? A Simple, Proven Money Management Solution to Keep You on Track Norbert D. Frank's book is a response to the immensely successful Getting Things Done by esteemed author David Allen. Spinning off of Allen's premise of improving effectiveness by writing down tasks and keeping organized through simple work flow procedures, Better than Budgeting is a simple, proven means of providing understanding and financial self-actualization through similar methods. By promoting a step-by-step process on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and fleshing out all financial aspects in a straight-forward manner, the practice of this book is to gather and understand an entire financial overview. Once the reader understands those basic, essential skills, he/she can then move on to more complex, practical techniques of money management, from investments to overcoming common negative associations. What's Included Your purchase of Better than Budgeting comes with all of these supplementary components to help the reader enhance their financial awareness: A Better than Budgeting workbook to apply the knowledge from the book An Excel-based expense tracker for easily managing expenditures An Excel-based contract management tool to keep projections in clear focus An Excel-based wealth overview to provide a total understanding over overall financial standings All tools are also available for the free Libre Office and optimized for print out All of these additions are optional for use, but are intended to promote and ensure the best possible financial practices on a regular basis. Message from the author The art of proper money management is easy - theoretically. But to apply it in practice is often quite difficult. Electronic tools can help but don't solve the underlying challenge of winning the game of personal finances. Therefore this book has a very strong focus on guiding you step by step through the process and giving you all the information and tools you need to start right away. Financial and expense tracking are the basis of staying informed, positive spending habits, and smart spending is the best way to keep the wealth you already have. Stay in control and reach financial goals. To your financial success! - Norbert D. Frank

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone has an opportunity to grow their money and get out of debt, but you must start to make this a reality. Be warned, though, when your income starts to grow, it is easy to fall into temptation and start spending more than you are earning again. Refrain and continue saving and investing your money. Every small step counts. Every coin kept and invested counts. If you use the profit you make, you will be unable to grow your wealth. Instead, allow your investment to grow by using the profits as part of the next years principal. With time, you will have a venture that can not only buy you whatever you want but one that will continue to grow over the years. Taking advice from experts in the field you wish to invest is critical to your investment. Would you go to a farmer when you are sick, or would you seek out a doctor? The same way, take your investment knowledge from those who understand the market dynamics and can offer you advice to help grow your investment. Manage your credit cards with responsibility, or they will sink you into a hole. The easiest way to get into debt is to spend more than you earn. You need to keep your expenses lower than your income at all times. Watch your credit card spending because that’s how we often find ourselves overspending. To get out of debt is to pay. The longer it takes you to pay, the higher the interest rate you will be required to pay. Either consolidate your debt or tackle one debt at a time. You might want to reduce your expenses, so you have more money to spread around. Always start by saving 10% of your income. A safety net is essential for your peace of mind. Budgeting does not have to be complicated. The more you simplify it, the better. As long as you track your expenses and stick to your budget, it will work for you. Ensure that you don’t view it as a task but as a necessary tool to help you stay ahead, get a real financial picture, and manage your money correctly. Each chapter in this book holds nuggets that will be valuable to you and those around you. Read this book and re-read it. Practice the tips outlined and stay focused and disciplined. Write your financial goal and stick it where you can see it every day, and it will motivate you to keep working on your plan and to achieve your goal.

Book excerpt: Does fear and insecurity keep you from looking at your bank account? Is your financial anxiety holding you captive? You don’t have to stress about money anymore. YOU can take back control. As a newly divorced single mom making $24,000 per year and facing down $77,000 in debt, Kumiko Love worried constantly about money. She saw what other moms had—vacations, birthday parties, a house full of furniture—and felt ashamed that she and her son lived in a small apartment and ate dinner on the floor. Worse, when her feelings began to exhaust her, she binge-shopped, reasoning that she’d feel better after a trip to the mall. On the day she needed to pay for a McDonald’s ice cream cone without her credit card, she had an epiphany: Money is not the problem. Self-Doubt is the problem. Shame is the problem. Guilt is the problem. Society’s expectations for her are the problem. She is the solution. Once she reversed the negative thinking patterns pushing her toward decisions that didn’t serve her values or goals, her financial plan wrote itself. Now, she’s not only living debt-free in her dream home, which she paid for in cash, but she has spread her teachings around the world and helped countless women envision better lives for themselves and their families. Now, building on the lessons she’s taught millions as the founder of The Budget Mom, she shares a step by step plan for taking control back over your financial life—regardless of your level of income or your credit card balance. Through stories from navigating divorce to helping clients thrive through recessions, depression, eviction, layoffs and so much more, you will learn foundational practices such as: How to use your emotions to your financial advantage, instead of letting them control you How to create a budget based on your real life, not a life of self-denial How to create a motivating debt pay-off plan that makes you excited about your future, instead of fearing it My Money My Way will give you the tools to align your emotional health with your financial health—to let go of deprivation and embrace desire. Love’s paradigm-shifting system will teach you how to honor your unique personal values, driving emotions, and particular needs so that you can stop worrying about money and start living a financially fulfilled life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Money Management Turn Bad Credit Into Good Credit: It seems that everywhere you turn, someone wants to know your credit score. It doesn’t matter if this is you or someone from your bank. Many landlords will even run a potential renter’s credit as this will usually give them insight as to whether the person will pay their rent. The landlords will also have guidelines to use in order to tell you if you are approved or not approved based on your credit score. While some may allow you to have a cosigner if you are not approved, they will also want to run your co-signer’s credit report. This is often frustrating to many people, especially when you are trying to repair your credit. It can make you feel that you are never given a break or that your identity is now your bad credit. It doesn’t have to be this way. In fact, the more you learn about the details of what bad credit is and how there are federal laws to help you overcome bad credit, the faster you will find yourself in financial freedom. Your credit score is vital to your life. It is something that helps you to enjoy life as you have added access to financial services and various investments. You must understand how your score can directly influence what you can purchase so that you can enjoy your life. The problems you have with your credit score can be very dramatic and you might not be fully aware of what affects your credit score or how valuable it is to you. Those people who pay off their debts and lines of credit with on-time payments will be more likely to have better credit ratings. There are many things relating to your credit score that should be explored that go well beyond just your payment history. Financial Budgeting: Everyone has an opportunity to grow their money and get out of debt, but you must start to make this a reality. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL, AND USA TODAY BESTSELLER • A ten-step plan for finding peace, safety, and harmony with your money—no matter how big or small your goals and no matter how rocky the market might be—by the inspiring and savvy “Budgetnista.” “No matter where you stand in your money journey, Get Good with Money has a lesson or two for you!”—Erin Lowry, bestselling author of the Broke Millennial series Tiffany Aliche was a successful pre-school teacher with a healthy nest egg when a recession and advice from a shady advisor put her out of a job and into a huge financial hole. As she began to chart the path to her own financial rescue, the outline of her ten-step formula for attaining both financial security and peace of mind began to take shape. These principles have now helped more than one million women worldwide save and pay off millions in debt, and begin planning for a richer life. Revealing this practical ten-step process for the first time in its entirety, Get Good with Money introduces the powerful concept of building wealth through financial wholeness: a realistic, achievable, and energizing alternative to get-rich-quick and over-complicated money management systems. With helpful checklists, worksheets, a tool kit of resources, and advanced advice from experts who Tiffany herself relies on (her “Budgetnista Boosters”), Get Good with Money gets crystal clear on the short-term actions that lead to long-term goals, including: • A simple technique to determine your baseline or “noodle budget,” examine and systemize your expenses, and lay out a plan that allows you to say yes to your dreams. • An assessment tool that helps you understand whether you have a “don't make enough” problem or a “spend too much” issue—as well as ways to fix both. • Best practices for saving for a rainy day (aka job loss), a big-ticket item (a house, a trip, a car), and money that can be invested for your future. • Detailed advice and action steps for taking charge of your credit score, maximizing bill-paying automation, savings and investing, and calculating your life, disability, and property insurance needs. • Ways to protect your beneficiaries' future, and ensure that your financial wishes will stand the test of time. An invaluable guide to cultivating good financial habits and making your money work for you, Get Good with Money will help you build a solid foundation for your life (and legacy) that’s rich in every way.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We spend large portions of our lives working. The purpose is to exchange our time and expertise for the opportunity to lead the lives we desire. However, work alone does not confer the ideal life. Integration with a budget - i.e. wise decision making, planning, and discipline - reigns imperative. A budget is an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time. This process increases the likelihood of exchanging your opportunities into successes - by knowing the necessary information and planning accordingly. Therefore, you owe it to yourself to budget if you truly want to achieve the life you desire. To budget is to plan; to plan is to value your impact on the circumstances. The mechanics of budgeting follow the well-known practice of shifting thoughts to actions and values. We know that practices such as setting yearly goals, creating vision boards, and surrounding yourself with like-minded people lend to reaching greater success than the contrary. Yet, many ditch these tried and true principals in favor of just hoping that everything will work out. While positivity goes a long way, coupling the positivity with right planning gives a push in the right direction. The ultimate desire is to lead a life full of happiness and contentment. This is possible when a sense of balance exists. Since all decisions are connected, our priorities, values, perceptions, habits and circumstances all impact the usefulness of our budget. Being in control of our personal path is the goal. How important are your goals? You decide.

Book excerpt: The annual budgeting process is a trap. Pressured by fixed targets and performance incentives, managers focus on making the numbers instead of making a difference, meeting set goals instead of maximizing potential. With their compensation at stake, managers often resort to deceitful-even unethical-behavior. In the end, everybody loses-the employee, the company, and ultimately the customer. Now, finance experts Jeremy Hope and Robin Fraser reveal the results of an intensive study aimed at fixing the broken budgeting process. They argue that companies must abandon traditional budgeting contracts in favor of a radical new model that links performance measurement to evolving competitive benchmarks-and shifts the firm's focus from controlling employee behavior to delivering customer value. The Beyond Budgeting model is built on the best practices of companies that have successfully revised their centralized planning and budgeting processes. It combines a leadership vision that devolves more authority to operating managers and a finance vision that enables fast decision making through appropriate tools and accessible information. Through vivid examples, Hope and Fraser illustrate how companies can implement these shared visions-and the long-term benefits that accrue from embracing them. Offering a compelling case for breaking free from the budgeting trap, this book paves the way toward making organizations better places to work for, invest in, and do business with.

You can budget one week at a time if you paycheck changes often, or plan several weeks ahead. Use pencil if you suspect things will change or create a general budget and make adjustments needed. The journal is set up to help you focus on week-by-week budgeting for 4-6 weeks at a time. The main worksheet in the book has a top section for weekly income. List your income, your spouse's income and any additional income you have coming in. There is an income total so you know exactly what is projected to come in each week. If you have more than five streams of weekly income, we recommend adding all of these incomes together and then listing the total for all of these in the "Other Income" section. The template also has up to 15 sections for you to fill in your expenses on a weekly basis. Include everything from groceries, to gas and other bills that you plan on paying only on that particular week and date when the money comes in. Many people will have several blank sections and this is great because that means you don't have as many weekly bills as you think. Some weeks might be more packed with bills and expenses than others. Each page of the bill worksheet has a place for notes and reminders as well. Write down reminders such as: Finish your taxes, buy Girl Scout cookies from Bethany's friend or time to buy clothes this week. This worksheet is fully customizable so feel free to fully utilize it so that you can stop on top of your bills and expenses. As you progress through the book you'll also find sections for financial goals and additional pages for journaling. This book is designed to encourage you to progress on your financial journey and reach new milestones such as buying a home, buying a car, investing, saving for vacations and more. Studies have shown that writing down goals and journaling helps us to take action and truly manifest what we want in life. You can start out having just a few goals and then add more as progress through the journal. New goal worksheets and journal pages are found after a series of 6 weekly budget worksheets. Additional goal worksheets and lined pages are also found at the end of the journal. We like to use this section at the back for more long term financial goals. We hope this book meets your needs. This book does NOT have pockets or tabs like some bill organizers and planners. Please click on the "Look Inside" feature to make sure this weekly budget journal is right for you. :) ***We also make this book with several different cover styles. Download or read book Power Spending written by Carolyn Johnston and published by Better Choice Publishing. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 100s of ideas to save you money - from basic economic survival to advanced power spending. In this book, we're going to use the "B" word-B-U-D-G-E-T. We know that was painful, but hold on-don't worry-we want to make budgeting fun. You heard us right-budgeting and fun in the same sentence. Stop laughing! We know the two words don't usually go together but give us a chance. This book is about much more than budgeting-in fact, it is so much more! These pages are about what you do with your money-how you spend, save and use it more effectively. The pages of Power Spending are filled with money facts, money mistakes and money solutions, but best of all, with real people's comments. We sent out surveys and you will find some of the responses to our questions on the last page of each chapter. These pages include our respondents' ideas, recommendations and "tried and true" solutions for making money work. You'll find even more of their great ideas on our website, http: //PowerSpendingBook.com. We've divided the book into two sections. In the first section you'll find some useful information about money basics-we refer to this as the basic economic survival part. In the second section you'll find lots of ideas about how to spend money better-this is the part we refer to as advanced power spending. Before we go any further we need to let you know what this book is and what it isn't. We'll begin with this explanation. There are six areas of financial planning: cash management, risk management, investment planning, special needs planning, estate planning and tax planning. We will only cover the first area-cash management. If you need specific and individual help and advice in any of these areas we recommend that you work with a certified financial planner or other specialist. And just what does cash management cover? Net worth, cash flow, debt management and emergency planning, for example, but also the many different ways you use your money. We'll go into more detail in the book-we don't want to spoil the surprise!! So, what's in it for you? That's always the bottom line. We are offering you fun, facts and freedom! When you implement the strategies that we provide in this book, you'll make better money decisions; you'll be in control of your money-not the other way around. In fact, that's how we came up with the title of our book, Power Spending: Getting More For Less. That's our motto, and our goals for you are first, economic survival, and then economic prosperity!! This book shares President Lincoln's philosophy: it is "of the people, by the people, for the people." With that in mind we invite you to continue to share your great ideas with us. Let us know how you power spend by adding your comments at http: //PowerSpendingBook.com. This book, and our website, are meant to be resources that are current and up-to-date and that will continue to provide you with the best "true blue, tried and tested, real life" ways to use your money better. Each chapter includes sidebars (placed at the end of each chapter in the Kindle version) that will bring some added insight to the topic. We've gathered financial statistics, more detailed examples or explanations (of the text material) and words of wisdom. We know you'll love the conversational tone and excellent tips that Power Spending gives - and we'd love to hear from you after you read it.
