Book Synopsis The Sacrament of Confession as a by : William Schmitt
Download or read book The Sacrament of Confession as a written by William Schmitt and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2001 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adrienne von Speyr in her book "Confession" and throughout her writings speaks of the "confession" of Jesus Christ. This is a startling use of the term because Christ never sinned. The author examines all the writings of von Speyr in the light of Roman Catholic soteriology and sacramental theology and in view of the influences that existed between her and Hans Urs von Balthasar. The author then shows how the theme of confession is central to von Speyr's writing, aids in illuminating her theology of Holy Saturday and the Paschal Mystery, and serves as the basis for the renewal of the sacrament of confession.

Book Synopsis The Rapture of God by : William Lloyd Newell
Download or read book The Rapture of God written by William Lloyd Newell and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-07-02 with total page 614 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book offering Balthasar’s theological oeuvre as a kerygma of Christ’s love proclaimed theologically as Christ’s esthetics of glory in his mission to reinvent himself, the world and us as beauty and glory. Balthasar’s hypothesis is that there is true theology and there is false theology. For him, theology is the unique science across the methods of which the decision of faith cuts, and divides it into two halves that cannot be united to each other: a genuine theology, which presupposes faith and does its thinking within the nexus of Christ and the Church; and a false theology, which rejects faith as methodologically dubious and irresponsible, and subsumes the truth of the phenomenon which discloses itself, under an anthropological truth (however this may be understood). In William Newell’s book he deeply reflects on the radical thinking being done in Catholic theology since the 1940s in Europe and now in the United States. Each chapter, each excursus, each elision, ushers the reader towards consolations without previous causes, the essence of mysticism in its first stages. The book, as with true theology, is a ‘come and see’ beckoning the reader to an endless furtherance of the archetypal experience of Christ.

Book Synopsis Heaven Opens by : Matthew Lewis Sutton
Download or read book Heaven Opens written by Matthew Lewis Sutton and published by Augsburg Fortress Publishers. This book was released on 2014 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adrienne von Speyr was one of the most important mystical theologians of the last century. However, her work has been eclipsed in many ways by her personal connection to Hans Urs von Balthasar. Heaven Opens provides one of the first comprehensive accounts of von Speyrs theology. Matthew Lewis Sutton argues that the eternal, immanent relations of the Triune God ground the mystical theological vision of von Speyr. Here, von Speyrs work is for the first time given an independent hearing, expositing its content, features, and connections, and assessing its contribution to contemporary Catholic theology.

Book Synopsis Zwischen Philosophie und Gesetz by : Thomas Meyer
Download or read book Zwischen Philosophie und Gesetz written by Thomas Meyer and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009-03-31 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the revival of intellectual history in recent years, there is still relatively little research into German-Jewish intellectual history between 1933 and 1938. The present work studies for the first time the important discussions of the period from the debate between Leo Strauss and Julius Guttmann, Alexander Altmann’s contribution to “Jewish theology,” to the reception of the work of Franz Rosenzweig and Martin Heidegger as well as the works of David Baumgardt and Fritz Heinemann. Many now forgotten texts of those discussions have been made accessible here. All the leading figures presented in this study were sooner or later forced to choose between “philosophy” and “law.”
Book Synopsis Woman, Mother, and Bride by : Felise Tavo
Download or read book Woman, Mother, and Bride written by Felise Tavo and published by Peeters Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past fifty years, studies pertaining to the reality of the church in the Apocalypse have, for the most part, tended to be either selective or sketchy in their treatment of the relevant material of the book. Yet in all fairness to the seer of Patmos, his portrayal of the church as a reality decidedly complex and at once profound can only be attained in a thoroughgoing study of the principal ecclesial narratives of his work, so as to allow for that indispensable 'synoptic' overview of such intentionally correlated material. Woman, Mother and Bride is such a study. It re-examines the relevant imagery of the Apocalypse but from the perspective of the seer's ecclesial 'thought-world' and on the basis of his overriding pastoral concerns for the 'seven churches' without which his work will continue to puzzle and trouble at every page. The ensuing outlook on the church is panoramic in its scope yet compelling in its appeal which further goes to confirm the Apocalypse as one of the most significant theological achievements of early Christianity.
Book Synopsis Christian August Crusius (1715–1775) by : Frank Grunert
Download or read book Christian August Crusius (1715–1775) written by Frank Grunert and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-07-05 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
