Book Synopsis Love Like Jesus: How Jesus Loved People (and how you can love like Jesus) by : Kurt Bennett
Download or read book Love Like Jesus: How Jesus Loved People (and how you can love like Jesus) written by Kurt Bennett and published by Enoch Media. This book was released on 2020-02-11 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on Kurt Bennett's popular-ish blog God Running, Love Like Jesus begins with the story of how after a life of regular church attendance and Bible study, Bennett was challenged by a pastor to study Jesus. That led to an obsessive seven-year deep dive. After pouring over Jesus' every interaction with another human being, he realized he was doing a much better job of studying Jesus' words than he was following Jesus' words and example. The honest and fearless revelations of Bennett's own moral failures affirm he wrote this book for himself as much as for others. Love Like Jesus examines a variety of stories, examples, and research, including: -Specific examples of how Jesus communicated God's love to others. -How Jesus demonstrated all five of Gary Chapman's love languages (and how you can too). -The story of how Billy Graham extended Christ's extraordinary love and grace toward a man who misrepresented Jesus to millions. -How to respond to critics the way Jesus did. -How to love unlovable people the way Jesus did. -How to survive a life of loving like Jesus (or how not to become a Christian doormat). -How Jesus didn't love everyone the same (and why you shouldn't either). -How Jesus guarded his heart by taking care of himself--he even napped--and why you should do the same.-How Jesus loved his betrayer Judas, even to the very end. With genuine unfiltered honesty, Love Like Jesus, shows you how to live a life according to God's definition of success: A life of loving God well, and loving the people around you well too. A life of loving like Jesus.

Book excerpt: "Taking its name from a line in the Wallace Stevens' poem "The Gray Room," Alec Soth's latest book is a lyrical exploration of the limitations of photographic representation. While these large-format color photographs are made all over the world, they aren't about any particular place or population. By a process of intimate and often extended engagement, Soth's portraits and images of his subject's surroundings involve an enquiry into the extent to which a photographic likeness can depict more than the outer surface of an individual, and perhaps even plumb the depths of something unknowable about both the sitter and the photographer"--The publisher.

Book Synopsis An Enlarged Heart by : Cynthia Zarin
Download or read book An Enlarged Heart written by Cynthia Zarin and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2013-02-12 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Enlarged Heart, the exquisitely written prose debut from prize-winning poet Cynthia Zarin, is a poignantly understated exploration of the author’s experiences with love, work, and the surprise of time’s passage. In these intertwined episodes from her New York world and beyond, she charts the shifting and complicated parameters of contemporary life and family in writing that feels nearly fictional in its richness of scene, dialogue, and mood. The writer herself is the marvelously rueful character at the center of these tales, at first a bewildered young woman, navigating the terrain of new jobs and borrowed apartments and the rapidly fading New York of people like Mr. Ferri, the Upper East Side tailor (“a wren of a man with pins flashing in his teeth”). By the end, whether Zarin is writing about vanished restaurants, her decades-long love affair with her collection of coats, a newlywed journey to Italy, a child’s illness, Mary McCarthy’s file cabinet, or the inner life of the New Yorker staff she knew as a young woman, this history of the heart shows us how persistent the past is in returning to us with entirely new lessons, and that there are some truths not even a tailor can alter.

Download or read book Voice Of The Heart written by Parisa Shahramiri and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-09-13 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was born and grown up in Iran. After the war between Iraq and Iran, we got back to our small city, Abadan. I finished my guidance & high school there and continue my studies at university and got MA. Furthermore, I like to continue my studies and get Doctorate degree. I started writing poetry when I was a teenager and studying at university. It was in that time that I became interested in English poems and wanted to write to release my soul and bring whatever was in my heart on the paper. Actually I am satisfied by writing English poems. Then I decided to publish my first book in 2002, after that I published my second poetry book (Dream of love) in 2006. I have translated English story books into Persian and published teaching books and articles. Also, I'm fond of painting and like to do landscape and want to follow it to the professional level. This book reflects my thoughts and feelings on many different things and expresses my feelings as the young girl. Voice of the heart is a collection that includes 54 English poems that are my own work. Actually it was published first in 2002 and included 80 poems but in this collection I excluded some of them. Poetry is the expression of our soul and a reflection of our deepest emotions. My poems are inspired by my thoughts on life. Some of the poems really reflect my inner feelings. Some express realities and the grief of people around me. I dedicate my book to my parents. I hope the readers like this book.
Book Synopsis The Thirteenth Disciple by : Edmund Wigram
Download or read book The Thirteenth Disciple written by Edmund Wigram and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-05-21 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells us, in exquisite detail, about the amazing times when Jesus was teaching and healing in the Holy Land and about his shocking crucifixion, with tantalizing glimpses of what may have followed. This is not fiction; it is a real story that has never been told like this before. Jesus’s adopted young brother, Thomas, recounts the events of those days, including many of the actual words of Jesus. He helps us understand the enthusiasm and excitement that Jesus brought to the people then. His words are as relevant today as they were then. He understood the purpose of life, why we are here, where we are going, and what we should be doing to get there.
