Book Synopsis Ethische Fragen der "Behinderung". Ethical Challenges of Disability by : Marie-Jo Thiel
Download or read book Ethische Fragen der "Behinderung". Ethical Challenges of Disability written by Marie-Jo Thiel and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2014 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People with disabilities still face many challenges, barriers, discrimination and exclusion. Considerable progress has transformed their lives in recent decades, but many challenges remain, in part because the policy cannot do everything and that is to change mentalities. This book discusses ethical issues about inclusion, recognition, solidarity, governance, civic engagement, the ability to lead a 'normal life', to work, to raise a family. It delves into the 'world of disability' and invites all to construct a society which accommodates differences and weaknesses.

This book was released on 2015-06-30 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Sexual Dysfunctions in Mentally Ill Patients by : Emmanuele A. Jannini
Download or read book Sexual Dysfunctions in Mentally Ill Patients written by Emmanuele A. Jannini and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-28 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the fundamental importance of the proper assessment and treatment of sexual disorders in patients with mental disorders with regard to their treatment outcomes and adherence to therapies. In fact, patients with mental disorders often suffer from sexual dysfunctions and in many cases, pharmacological treatment causes sexual-dysfunction side-effects. However, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders and psychotic disorders are often also characterized by sexual symptoms that have a profound impact on sexual function. The psychopathology of sexual behavior investigates deficits in the mind-body relationship that are expressed through sexual symptoms such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, vaginismus, orgasmic disorders, or lack of sexual desire. These symptoms can be considered both prodromal and as a consequence of psychological or psychiatric suffering. Written by a multidisciplinary team of experts, this book offers a valuable guide for psychiatrists, andrologists, gynecologists and psychologists.
Book Synopsis Lust und Verwundbarkeit by : Dagmar Herzog
Download or read book Lust und Verwundbarkeit written by Dagmar Herzog and published by Wallstein Verlag. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Kant’s Theory of Value by : Christoph Horn
Download or read book Kant’s Theory of Value written by Christoph Horn and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-10-03 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In explicit form, Kant does not speak that much about values or goods. The reason for this is obvious: the concepts of ‘values’ and ‘goods’ are part of the eudaimonistic tradition, and he famously criticizes eudaimonism for its flawed ‘material’ approach to ethics. But he uses, on several occasions, the traditional teleological language of goods and values. Especially in the Groundwork and the Critique of Practical Reason, Kant develops crucial points on this conceptual basis. Furthermore, he implicitly discusses issues of conditional and unconditional values, subjective and objective values, aesthetic or economic values etc. In recent Kant scholarship, there has been a controversy on the question how moral and nonmoral values are related in Kant’s account of human dignity. This leads to the more fundamental problem if Kant should be seen as a prescriptvist (antirealist) or as subscribing to a more objective rational agency account of goods. This issue and several further questions are addressed in this volume.

Book Synopsis International Handbook of Love by : Claude-Hélène Mayer
Download or read book International Handbook of Love written by Claude-Hélène Mayer and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-04 with total page 1123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook includes state-of-the-art research on love in classical, modern and postmodern perspectives. It expands on previous literature and explores topics around love from new cultural, intercultural and transcultural approaches and across disciplines. It provides insights into various love concepts, like romantic love, agape, and eros in their cultural embeddedness, and their changes and developments in specific cultural contexts. It also includes discussions on postmodern aspects with regard to love and love relationships, such as digitalisation, globalisation and the fourth industrial revolution. The handbook covers a vast range of topics in relation to love: aging, health, special needs, sexual preferences, spiritual practice, subcultures, family and other relationships, and so on. The chapters look at love not only in terms of the universal concept and in private, intimate relationships, but apply a broad concept of love which can also, for example, be referred to in postmodern workplaces. This volume is of interest to a wide readership, including researchers, practitioners and students of the social sciences, humanities and behavioural sciences. In the 1970s through the 90s, I was told that globalization was homogenizing cultures into a worldwide monoculture. This volume, as risky and profound as the many adventures of love across our multiplying cultures are, proves otherwise. The authors’ revolutionary and courageous work will challenge our sensibilities and expand the boundaries of what we understand what love is. But that’s what love does: It communicates what is; offers what can be; and pleads for what must be. I know you’ll enjoy this wonderful book as much as I do! Jeffrey Ady, Associate Professor (retired), Public Administration Program, University of Hawaii at Manoa, Founding Fellow, International Academy for Intercultural Research The International Handbook of Love is far more than a traditional compendium. It is a breath-taking attempt to synthesize our anthropological and sociological knowledge on love. It illuminates topics as diverse as Chinese love, one-night stands, teen romance or love of leaders and many more. This is a definitive reference in the field of love studies. Eva Illouz, author of The End of Love: A sociology of Negative relationships. Oxford University Press. “This is not a volume to be read in a single sitting (though I almost did, due to a protracted hospital stay), nor is it romantic or inspirational reading (though, in some cases, I had hoped for more narrative examples and case studies. Rather it is a highly diverse scholarly effort, a massive resource collection of research papers on love in a variety of contexts, personal and professional settings, and cultures. The work is well referenced providing a large number of resources for deeper exploration. .... We owe our thanks to the authors and editors of this “handbook” for work well done, though that word in the title should not lead readers to suspect that, enlightening as it is, this book is a vade mecum or practical tour guide that provides ready solutions to the vicissitudes and challenges of our love lives!” Reviewed by Dr. George F. Book Synopsis Client-centered and Experiential Psychotherapy in the Nineties by : Richard Balen
Download or read book Client-centered and Experiential Psychotherapy in the Nineties written by Richard Balen and published by Leuven University Press. This book was released on 1990 with total page 870 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This voluminous book of 47 chapters offers a good cross section of what is burgeoing in the field of client-centered and experiential psychotherapy on the threshold of the nineties. it does not represent a single vision but gives the floor to the various suborientations: classics Rogerians; client-centered therapists who favor some form of integration or even eclecticism; experiential psychotherapists for whom Gendlin's focusing approach is a precious way of working; client-centered therapists who look at the therapy process in terms of information-processing; existentially oriented therapists... Remarkable is that - for the first time in the history of client-centered/experiential psychotherapy - the European voice rings through forcefully: more than half of the contributions were written by authors from Western Europe.Several chapters contain reflections on the evolution--past, present, and future--of client-centered/experiential psychotherapy. The intensive research into the process, which had a central place in the initial phase of client-centered therapy, is given here ample attention, with several creative studies and proposals for renewal. In numerous contributions efforts are made to build and further develop a theroy of psychopathology, the client's process, the basic attitudes and task-oriented interventions of the therapist. The chapters dealing with clinical practice typically aim at the description of therapy with specific client populations and paricularly severely disturbed clients. And finally a few fields are introduced which are new or barely explored within the client-centered/experiential approach: working with dreams, health psychology, couple and family therapy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Könnte man meinen.
