As the country has a large livestock population, which ranks first in Africa and tenth in the world, it has much to gain from the growing global markets for livestock products. Therefore, this study aims to give further inside how this can be achieved in the exemplary case of beef fattening. The study was conducted in the Southern Nation Nationality and People Regional Government in Wolaita Zone to assess beef cattle fattening and marketing system in the case of Damot Pulasa Woreda. In the present study stratified sampling method was used and a total of 120 households were selected for survey study. To collect the data both primary and secondary data source were used and the collected data were analyzed by using descriptive. The study indicated that the main purposes of beef cattle fattening were for 25, (78.1%) to start their fattening activity to replace the old oxen after the end of the plowing period and only small proportion 7, (21.9%) of the fatteners were income oriented respectively. The common beef cattle selection criteria were health condition, physical appearance, sex, age are 46.2%, 30.14%, 12.32%, 11.34% respectively. Major feed resources were natural pasture (56.25%), Maize and Enset tuber (31.25%), frushika (10%), grazing (2.5%). Beef cattle fattening constraints were feed shortage (34.4%), lack of capital (25%), market problem (15.6%), disease and parasite (9.375%), lack of extension service (9.375%), and drought (6.25%). The frequency of fattening per year was 21(65.6%) of cattle fatteners in the study area were fattening only one time per year and the rest 7(21.9%) and 4(12.5%) were fattening two times and three times per year respectively. The study was undertaken with the objective to characterize milk marketing system and to forward appropriate intervention in the area. The data was collected based on group discussion with key informants and then using pre-tested questionnaire administered to randomly selecting milk producer from randomly selected rural Kebeles. Two market places were selected purposively. The result indicates that all milk animals are indigenous cattle, camel and goats. There were generally two types of milk outlets identified in the district. These are traditional milk associations or groups and individual sellers. The traditional milk producer association group is locally called Faraqa Annanni. From a total of 94 households that sold milk during the study, only 22 (23 %) households were involved in the milk seller groups.

The study was undertaken to describe the production system, the cattle by using qualitative and quantitative traits. Field studies and collection of data were carried out by using semi-structured questionnaire, observation, key informants, focused group discussion and linear body measurements of sampled cattle and also from secondary data sources. A total of 240 households (120 from each district) were selected by using stepwise purposive followed by random selection method for questionnaire interview and 660 cattle (480 cows and 180 bulls) for morphological description and to measure quantitative and qualitative traits of cattle. The qualitative traits are assessed by visual observation while the qualitative traits were measured by using self devised instruments by the researcher. The data were analyzed by SPSS software, while the qualitative traits were compared by using Chi-square test, the quantitative traits were compared by Duncan’s multiple range test and the values were compared at the significance level P

For many years, information markets have been a reliable tool for predicting events, especially in the field of politics, sports or movie business. Due to the high prediction accuracy and the high innovation pressure on companies, the question arises whether such markets are suitable for evaluating ideas in companies. For this purpose, 36 articles from journals and conference proceedings were consulted in the context of a systematic literature review. Thereby, nine topic areas could be found in which reasons against the implementation of information markets for this use case exist. The topics in descending order of the number of assigned articles are: Accuracy, Manipulation, Motivation, Complexity, Costs, Knowledge, Confidentiality, Organization and Legal. The research results were also analyzed according to the geographic profile, the publication numbers over time, as well as according to their keywords.
