Book Synopsis Generation, Transmission, Detection, and Application of Vortex Beams by : Xizheng Ke
Download or read book Generation, Transmission, Detection, and Application of Vortex Beams written by Xizheng Ke and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-27 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the key technologies supporting orbital-angular-momentum multiplexing communication: generation, transmission, detection, and application of vortex beams. A series of methods for generating vortex beams are described and compared in detail. Laguerre-Gaussian and Bessel-Gaussian beams are taken as examples to introduce the transport properties of vortex beams in atmospheric turbulence. The authors show that superposition of vortex beam state, interference, diffraction, and grating can realize the detection of the topological charge of vortex beams. The authors also introduce the application of vortex beams in optical communication and the transmission characteristics of partially coherent vortex beams in atmospheric turbulence. Finally, the authors describe vortex beam information exchange and channel reconstruction.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the acceleration and storage of polarized proton beams in cyclic accelerators. Basic equations of spin motion are reviewed, the invariant spin field is introduced, and an adiabatic invariant of spin motion is derived. This book offers a more lucid view of spin dynamics at high energy than has hitherto been available.
Download or read book Theory of Beams written by T. Iwiński and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory of Beams: The Application of the Laplace Transformation Method to Engineering Problems, Second Enlarged Edition emphasizes the method used than the broad coverage of all the significant cases that may be met in engineering practice. The content of this edition is mostly the topics presented in the first edition, but are roughly doubled. This edition is divided into four chapters, wherein most of the modifications made are included in the fourth chapter. The first chapter provides an introduction of the study, followed by discussions on theory of beams. Then, specific topics on the transform of the load function; beams with transverse and axial loading; beams and free beam on elastic foundations and non-homogeneous elastic foundations; and simple beam with terminal forces and couples resting on an elastic foundation are examined. This book ends with a table presenting transforms and functions. This text will be of interest to mathematicians and engineers, as well as mathematics and engineering students.

This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the reviews: "This book is a very welcome and valuable addition to the accelerator literature. As noted by the authors, there is relatively little material in the book specifically for low-energy machines, but industrial users may still find it useful to read." Cern Courier
Book Synopsis Physics Of High Brightness Beams, 2nd Icfa Advanced Accelerator Workshop by : James B Rosenzweig
Download or read book Physics Of High Brightness Beams, 2nd Icfa Advanced Accelerator Workshop written by James B Rosenzweig and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000-12-18 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of the 1999 ICFA workshop on the physics of high brightness beams. The workshop took a snapshot in time of a fast moving, interdisciplinary field driven by advanced applications such as high gradient, high energy physics linear colliders, high gain free electron lasers, heavy ion fusion, and transmutation of nuclear materials. While the field of high brightness beam physics has traditionally been divided into disparate electron and heavy ion communities, the workshop brought the two types of researchers together, so that a sharing of insights and methods could be achieved. Thus, this book represents a unifying step in the development of the diverse fascinating discipline of high brightness beam physics, with its challenges rooted in collective, nonlinear particle motion and ultra-high electromagnetic energy density.

Book Synopsis Rare Isotope Beams by : Alok Chakrabarti
Download or read book Rare Isotope Beams written by Alok Chakrabarti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-06-30 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rare Isotope Beams (RIBs) are ion beams of exotic radioactive nuclei. The study of these nuclei is key to understanding the limits of nuclear existence, nucleo-synthesis in such violent stellar sites as supernovae and merging neutron stars, and the fundamental symmetries of nature. These nuclei also provide a unique probe to study condensed matter and many of them are potentially new radioisotopes for more effective medical diagnostics and therapy. Rare Isotope Beams: Concepts and Techniques gives an up-to-date overview of all these aspects of RIB science in a single volume containing the scientific motivation, production techniques, experimental techniques for studying exotic nuclei, methods used in condensed matter research, and medical applications. The emphasis throughout is on concepts to facilitate understanding of the essence of each topic in this diverse and cross-disciplinary field involving nuclear physics, astrophysics, and particle accelerators. A brief description of major RIB facilities is also presented. Exotic nuclei are difficult to produce in enough numbers and their production involves different nuclear reaction routes and a wide range of advanced technologies, which are presented in a comprehensive manner. Experimental techniques used to study exotic nuclei are provided with examples highlighting the intricate nature of such experiments. Another unique feature is the open-ended nature of the discussions, bringing out the future challenges and possibilities in this evolving field. The book offers an excellent overview of concepts and techniques involved in RIB science for new researchers entering the field as well as professionals.
Book Synopsis Laser Beam Mode Selection by Computer Generated Holograms by : Victor A. Soifer
Download or read book Laser Beam Mode Selection by Computer Generated Holograms written by Victor A. Soifer and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-07-20 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laser Beam Mode Selection by Computer Generated Holograms brings attention to a new class of optical elements called modans, with applications in laser and fiber optics. Separation of the transverse modes by modans is discussed in close analogy to well-known effects of color separation by diffraction gratings. The book describes the basic questions of digital holography in the recording of complex wavefronts on phase-only media, binary coding cells, multilevel computer-generated holograms, quantization and sampling, image reconstruction, and computer generation of multifocal and multibeam holograms. This collective effort summarizes 12 years of scientific activities in the development of diffractive optical elements and provides considerable material never before published. An interesting appendix dedicates itself to mathematical proof of optimal properties of orthogonal base-functions and eigenfunctions.

Book Synopsis Strain Measurements and Strength Tests of 25-inch Diagonal-tension Beams with Single Uprights by : James P. Peterson
Download or read book Strain Measurements and Strength Tests of 25-inch Diagonal-tension Beams with Single Uprights written by James P. Peterson and published by . This book was released on 1945 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation was made of a series of diagonal-tension beams to determine the accuracy of previously published design charts in predicting the stresses in single uprights. Strain measurements were made of the test beams to obtain the stress distribution in the beams and the ultimate stresses that could be developed in the beams. Failures of the beams occurred in both the uprights and the webs. The measured stresses were generally in agreement with the predicted stresses.
