Book Synopsis Epidemic of Joy by : Randal Earl Denny
Download or read book Epidemic of Joy written by Randal Earl Denny and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-05-01 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Randal Denny began a devotional study in the Book of Acts with 'Do It Again, Lord' (Acts 1Ð4), 'Where the Action Is' (Acts 5Ð8), 'Wind in the Rigging' (Acts 9Ð12), and continued it with this volume. This book is about joy, a certain kind of joy that comes from deep down inside--the joy of the new life in Christ. E. Stanley Jones noted, ÒA strange, sober joy went across that sad and decaying world--joy that goodness was here for the asking, that moral victory was possible now, that guilt could be lifted from the stricken conscience, that inner conflict could be resolved . . . and that a fellowship of like-souled persons gave one a sense of belonging. It was Good News. And it worked! Acts 13 through 16, the scope of this study, traces the beginnings of that Òepidemic of joy, which spread so rapidly and so extensively that it has reached us today.
Download or read book Back To Eden written by Simon Thiessen and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2016-06-17 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Part scriptural analysis, part compassionate musing, and part academic study, Back to Eden brings together academic research, Christian theology, and universal human emotions to examine how our financial status affects our way of life and our treatment of others. Starting with a broad analysis of how certain scriptural passages can be interpreted through the lens of our human capacity for love, compassion, righteousness, and humility, author Dr. Thiessen moves with increasing specificity into a detailed, succinct, and thoroughly researched examination of how our perspective towards those less fortunate is directly related to our relationship with God, not to our financial portfolio. For those who seek to deepen their relationship with God and to better understand how His teachings encourage compassion, generosity, and open heartedness, Back to Eden not only provides the academic and scriptural foundation to accomplish this, but it also weaves each lesson through a prism of human experience, allowing these teachings to be understood and identified by any who are willing to learn. Through deep analysis and thoughtful consideration of theological literature and select scripture, Dr. Thiessen’s work weaves a story that aspires to educate, enlighten, and inspire.
Book Synopsis A Thematic Access-Oriented Bibliography of Jesus's Resurrection by : Michael J. Alter
Download or read book A Thematic Access-Oriented Bibliography of Jesus's Resurrection written by Michael J. Alter and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-12-31 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The keystone of Christianity is Jesus’s physical, bodily resurrection. Present-day scholars can be significantly challenged as they forage through voluminous documents on the resurrection of Jesus. The literature measures well over seven thousand sources in English-language books alone. This makes finding specific sources that are most relevant for specific scholarly purposes an arduous task. Even when a specific book is relevant, finding the parts of the book that are most relevant to the resurrection rather than other topics often requires additional effort. A Thematic Access-Oriented Bibliography of Jesus’s Resurrection addresses these challenges in several ways. First, the bibliography organizes more than seven thousand English sources into twelve main categories and then thirty-four subcategories, which are designed to help you find the most relevant literature quickly and efficiently. Embedded are pro and con arguments which support efficient access through brief annotations and then annotate the diversity and complexity of the field of religion by including sources that represent a diverse range of views: theistic (e.g., Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.), agnostic, and nontheistic. The objective of this bibliography is to provide convenient access to relevant sources from a variety of perspectives, allowing you to browse or find the one source accurately and with ease.
Book Synopsis Wind in the Rigging by : Randal Earl Denny
Download or read book Wind in the Rigging written by Randal Earl Denny and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-05-01 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Randal Denny began a devotional study in the Book of Acts with 'Do It Again, Lord (Acts 1-4)' and 'Where the Action Is (Acts 5-8)' and continued it with this volume. Acts 9-12 is about God's wind of the Spirit moving through the rigging of Old Ship Zion . . . no more coasting along narrow shorelines of Judaism. Paul, Public Enemy No. 1, is struck down by Jesus, acknowledges His Lordship, and moves into place for action. Interwoven with his preparation for service are the lives of other key people whom God used to make St. Paul's ministry both possible and effective--Brave Ananias, Flexible Peter, Warmhearted Barnabas, and others. This book is filled with rich background material, strong illustrations, and pointed applications to make Acts come alive in your life today!

Download or read book In Jesus' Strong Hands written by Randal Earl Denny and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2004-10-18 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tracing the continuing story of Paul and his work in chapters 17-28, the author notes that even though his story comes to a conclusion, the Book of Acts doesn't seem to have an ending; it just stops. But the thrust continues with the power of the living Christ and the Holy Spirit working through us in our day. Albert Schweitzer wrote: He comes to us, as of old, by the lakeside. He came to those who knew Him not. He speaks to us the same words, 'Follow me,' and sets us to the tasks which He has to fulfill for our time....
Book Synopsis Baptized with the Holy Ghost by : Grant Ralston
Download or read book Baptized with the Holy Ghost written by Grant Ralston and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2020-02-26 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Baptized with the Holy Ghost has been designed to briefly explain the Pentecostal perspective on the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Pentecostals are dedicated to a belief in a post-conversion work of the Spirit, a belief that is convincingly articulated in this important book. Pentecostals also maintain that speaking in tongues is the initial, physical evidence of this glorious experience. While many might shy away from the biblical teaching on speaking with tongues, we gladly affirm its existence and agree that it is the initial indicator that a believer has received the Holy Ghost, although it is not the only sign. There are many reasons why it is advantageous for Christians to be filled with the Holy Ghost that are presented. God has established certain conditions that must be met in order for the gift of the Holy Ghost to be received. We endeavor to answer questions and issues closely connected to this topic, such as if tongues ceased and whether every believer speaks in tongues. Baptized with the Holy Ghost will not only inform you about this precious experience available to every child of God, but it will also create within you a desire to enjoy for yourself the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Download or read book Thy Kingdom Come written by Jerry Huerta and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2018-12-28 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contemporary history and progressive revelation regarding the Hebraic festivals are the basis for a renovation of the traditional historicist’s house and its perception of recapitulation in the book of Revelation, which does not disturb the historicist’s view that the papacy is the Antichrist. Under this new interpretation, John’s use of recapitulation was modest as compared with the traditionalist’s view. The new view correlates the prophecies and illustrations of the seven seals with our modern-day market-driven society, the prophetic era of the Laodicean church, the autumnal festivals, and the “the time of the end” in Daniel 8:17. The correspondence of the apocalyptic horsemen of the seven seals with the historical accounts of the Protestant’s rise to prominence and their termination of the churches’ influence in our modern-day commerce is incendiary. Moreover, the correspondence pertaining to autumnal festivals regarding the final judgment and the apocalyptic horsemen of the seven seals is no less provocative. As is the case of all such correlations that come to light through progressive revelation, they become a blessing for the sons and daughters of God and a reproof for those who walk in darkness (Revelation 1:3).

Download or read book The Pharisees written by Kent L. Yinger and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-05-19 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A struggle is currently underway to figure out one of the central groups in the gospel story . . . the Pharisees. Were they "hypocrites or heroes"? Or as one recent writer put it, maybe they were just "good guys with bad press." Scholars of Judaism and of the NT have been painstakingly correcting, even rehabilitating, the image of the first-century Pharisees, but this seems not yet to have affected most readers of Scripture. Here at last is a book that lays out for the non-specialist the evidence for the origin and true nature of the Pharisees . . . and challenges them to re-read the gospel stories with real Pharisees in mind rather than caricatures.
