Book Synopsis Future Advances in Basin Modeling by : Willy Fjeldskaar
Download or read book Future Advances in Basin Modeling written by Willy Fjeldskaar and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-03-11 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume describes the nature, causes, and consequences of the diverse fluid movements that produce energy and mineral resources in sedimentary basins. The contained papers point to new capabilities in basin analysis methods and models. The processes that operate in the resource-producing thermo-chemical-structural reactors we call sedimentary basins are reviewed. Efficient ways to infer the tectonic history of basins are described. Impacts on hydrocarbon maturation and migration of glacial tilting, magmatic intrusion, salt migration, and fracturing are illustrated. The conditions under which subsurface flow will channel with distance traveled are identified. Seismic methods that can image and map subsurface permeability channels are described. The surface maturation, surface charge, and chemical reaction foundations of creep subsidence are set forth. Dynamic aspects of the hydrogen resource in basins are analyzed. There is much that is new that is presented in these papers with the intent of stimulating thinking and enthusiasm for the advances that will be made in future decades.

Book Synopsis River Basin Management Planning in Indonesia by : Asian Development Bank
Download or read book River Basin Management Planning in Indonesia written by Asian Development Bank and published by Asian Development Bank. This book was released on 2016-06-01 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication summarizes the strengths, challenges, opportunities, and risks characterizing the prospects for integrated water resources management in Indonesia. Integrated water resources management planning is essential for sustainable growth. Indonesia’s rapid economic growth, increasing populations, and trends in developing and urbanizing environments are leading to potential conflicts as more users claim the same water resources. Understanding these conditions may provide decision makers with more insight to optimize the country’s water resources potential using available and state-of-the-art methodologies and tools for river basin planning. The report discusses all aspects of basin planning based on experiences from one of Indonesia’s most complex and strategic river basins.

Download or read book Basin Analysis written by Philip A. Allen and published by Wiley-Blackwell. This book was released on 2005-02-21 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Basin Analysis is an up-to-date overview of the essential processes of the formation and evolution of sedimentary basins, and their implications for the development of hydrocarbon resources. The new edition features: A consideration of the fundamental physical state of the lithosphere. A discussion on the major types of lithospheric deformation relevant to basin development – stretching and flexure. A new chapter on the effects of mantle dynamics. Radically revised chapters on the basin-fill. A new chapter on the erosional engine for sediment delivery to basins, reflecting the massive and exciting advances in this area in the last decade. Expansion of the techniques used in approaching problems in basin analysis. Updated chapters on subsidence analysis and measurements of thermal maturity of organic and non-organic components of the basin-fill. New material on thermochronological and exposure dating tools. Inclusion of the important petroleum system concept in the updated section on the application to the petroleum play. Visit: www.blackwellpublishing.com/allen for practical exercises related to problems in Basin Analysis 2e. To run the programs you will need a copy of Matlab 6 or 7. Book Synopsis Basin Evolution and Petroleum Prospectivity of the Continental Margins of India by : Rabi Bastia
Download or read book Basin Evolution and Petroleum Prospectivity of the Continental Margins of India written by Rabi Bastia and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2012-12-31 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past 10 years, the Oil industry in India has seen a tremendous rise in exploration activity with several major E&P companies generating vast amount of new geological and geophysical data. The availability of such integrated data sets (gravity, magnetic, seismic, drilled wells), especially in the deep offshore basins, has led the authors to revisit earlier concepts and models in order to redefine the tectonic framework of major offshore basins along the Indian continental margins. The book covers the stratigraphic evolution, play types and the classification of major offshore basins both in shallow and deepwater environments. - Incorporation of latest dataset (specially the seismic, gravity and magnetic) - Analogy of global offshore basins with India - Sedimentation and depositional history of Bengal fan and Indus fan - Redefinition of major tectonic framework of the margins - Exceleent high quality graphics that include: seismic sections, gravity-magnetic maps, conceptual geological models and new revised tectonic elements

Download or read book Thermal Energy written by Yatish T. Shah and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-12 with total page 1112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book details sources of thermal energy, methods of capture, and applications. It describes the basics of thermal energy, including measuring thermal energy, laws of thermodynamics that govern its use and transformation, modes of thermal energy, conventional processes, devices and materials, and the methods by which it is transferred. It covers 8 sources of thermal energy: combustion, fusion (solar) fission (nuclear), geothermal, microwave, plasma, waste heat, and thermal energy storage. In each case, the methods of production and capture and its uses are described in detail. It also discusses novel processes and devices used to improve transfer and transformation processes.
Book Synopsis Heat Flow in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin by : Jennifer Suzanne Scott
Download or read book Heat Flow in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin written by Jennifer Suzanne Scott and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this thesis is to determine geothermal gradients and thermal condictivity in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin and hence constrain heat flow. The aim is to further understand heat flow variations in terms of basement depth and lithology in the basin. An understanding of the thermal regime of the basin will improve our understanding of hydrocarbon generation in Australia'a most prolific hydrocarbon basin.
