Using survey methodology, this study collected data about the skills required of business major graduates from community colleges. Perspectives of managers representing employers in California and educators from community colleges were compared and analyzed. The study revealed significant differences in educators' and employers' understanding of what skills make business graduates competitive in the 21st century, and what skills, accordingly, should community colleges teach. Implications for practice were recognized, based on the findings of this study, including the need for extensive collaboration and greater input from business leaders into curriculum design. Business programs must be redesigned to fit the rapidly evolving global economy.

They deploy and develop this expertise as they investigate such issues, recognizing multiple perspectives, communicating their views effectively, and taking action to improve conditions.This publication of CCSSO and the Asia Society Partnership for Global Learning puts forward a new definition for global competence and explores how to infuse the capacities of global competence into the classroom and into policy.
