Download or read book Crisis Intervention Christ-Is Intervention written by Anthony Benjamin Cosenza Ph.D. and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006-06-02 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crisis intervention/"Christ-is" intervention, Volume I, is a carefully researched guide for personal and professional growth that systematically enables an individual to shift from a crisis to healthy and valiant living. On a 25-year quest for the meaning of "self-value," the author/psychologist unveils the biblical origin and characteristics of "spiritual valueness." The relationship between spiritual crises and imbalances of values is biblically researched. Specific types of spiritual crises with their eight subtypes are explained so that individuals can assess these crises through practical applications and appropriate questionnaires. Drawing from principles and analogies in mathematics, chemistry, physics, and sports fitness training, Dr. Cosenza shows individuals in spiritual search how to shift the balances of their values on the spiritual seesaw of life so as to maintain spiritual valor in and out of crises. Using a step-wise spiritual fitness training model, he unfolds a spiritual model for crisis intervention or "Christ-is" intervention, which utilizes biblically based balance training exercises to prevent, evaluate, and correct particular critical conditions This unique form of spiritual fitness has major applications for individuals in need as well as spiritual leaders, mental health professionals, pastoral counseling, and health/fitness trainers.

Book excerpt: WINNER OF THE ORANGE PRIZE • Set in 1828 on a Louisiana sugar plantation, this novel from the bestselling author of Mary Reilly presents a “fresh, unsentimental look at what slave-owning does to (and for) one's interior life.... The writing—so prised and clean limbed—is a marvel" (Toni Morrison, Nobel Prize-winning author of Beloved). Manon Gaudet, pretty, bitterly intelligent, and monstrously self-absorbed, seethes under the dominion of her boorish husband. In particular his relationship with her slave Sarah, who is both his victim and his mistress. Exploring the permutations of Manon’s own obsession with Sarah against the backdrop of an impending slave rebellion, Property unfolds with the speed and menace of heat lightning, casting a startling light from the past upon the assumptions we still make about the powerful and powerful.

Book Synopsis W.W.W.Krisis/Intervention by : Anthony Benjamin Cosenza PhD
Download or read book W.W.W.Krisis/Intervention written by Anthony Benjamin Cosenza PhD and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2020-11-18 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Cosenza’s fifth book presents startling spiritual keys to identifying the true spiritual sources of all crises in individuals, groups, communities and countries. His timely biblical research study of the Greek word, krisis and its derivatives, carefully unfolds significant spiritual types of crises (krisis), ten subtypes, and their effective solutions. In w.w.w.krisis/intervention, Dr. Cosenza rigorously contends that the underlying answers to all crises are found mainly in the spiritual realm. Systematically, he explores three salient biblical ideas: (1) our spiritual understanding of what and who we worship, (2) our spiritual consciousness of the Word of God (“Word-ship”), and (3) our true spiritual sense of worthiness (“worth-ship”). Dr. Cosenza’s provocative research on krisis intervention offers a spiritually balanced and harmonizing approach to worldly conceptions and deceptions of crises.

Book Synopsis Debating the Slave Trade by : Srividhya Swaminathan
Download or read book Debating the Slave Trade written by Srividhya Swaminathan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-13 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How did the arguments developed in the debate to abolish the slave trade help to construct a British national identity and character in the late eighteenth century? Srividhya Swaminathan examines books, pamphlets, and literary works to trace the changes in rhetorical strategies utilized by both sides of the abolitionist debate. Framing them as competing narratives engaged in defining the nature of the Briton, Swaminathan reads the arguments of pro- and anti-abolitionists as a series of dialogues among diverse groups at the center and peripheries of the empire. Arguing that neither side emerged triumphant, Swaminathan suggests that the Briton who emerged from these debates represented a synthesis of arguments, and that the debates to abolish the slave trade are marked by rhetorical transformations defining the image of the Briton as one that led naturally to nineteenth-century imperialism and a sense of global superiority. Because the slave-trade debates were waged openly in print rather than behind the closed doors of Parliament, they exerted a singular influence on the British public. At their height, between 1788 and 1793, publications numbered in the hundreds, spanned every genre, and circulated throughout the empire. Among the voices represented are writers from both sides of the Atlantic in dialogue with one another, such as key African authors like Ignatius Sancho, Phillis Wheatley, and Olaudah Equiano; West India planters and merchants; and Quaker activist Anthony Benezet. Throughout, Swaminathan offers fresh and nuanced readings that eschew the view that the abolition of the slave trade was inevitable or that the ultimate defeat of pro-slavery advocates was absolute.

This book was released on 2019-12-03 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Henry Clay Bruce's 'The New Man' is a fascinating memoir that provides a unique perspective on slavery and its aftermath. Born into slavery in Virginia and Missouri, Bruce stated that his experiences as a slave were largely positive, with kind and generous masters who treated their slaves well. However, the American Civil War and emancipation brought new challenges, as newly freed blacks struggled to adapt to life in society. Bruce provides valuable insights into the difficulties they faced and argues that the government should have provided greater support during the transition. While Bruce's views on race can be problematic, his memoir is an important contribution to our understanding of slavery and its aftermath.
