Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bacon and Shake-Speare Parallelisms My second bears the title 'francis Bacon, Our Shake speare' This deals With internal criticism, and shows the philosophic purpose for which the Plays were written. For this effort to assign to the great author of the Shake-speare dramas - dramas imbedded in the love and reverence of mankind - a motive higher than one merely mercenary, I venture to ask a candid, if not sym pathetic hearing. Russell Storrs Hall was the third son born to Olive Agar Hall and Bertine Anderson Hall on February 4th,1917 on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. I believe he was a very serious, sensitive, studious young man growing up, who was constantly reading and searching for answers. He possessed a high intellect and a profound curiosity. He attended college in Chicago, but soon after the Pearl Harbor attack, enlisted in the Army. At some point in time, his Company was sent to serve in Panama, Central America, where he became ill from the effects of the jungle. He received a medical discharge in 1943 and returned home to convalesce. On August 5th, 1945 he married my mother, Hildegard H. Bergt. When I was young, my father worked as an insurance underwriter for George F. Brown Insurance and LLoyds of London. In 1960, after sitting for a civil service exam, he changed careers and became a Postal Carrier. My parents divorced in 1968, and dad later remarried in 1971 to Lorraine R. Lawler. In 1982 he retired from the downtown Chicago Post Offifi ce as supervisor. My father’s lifetime passion and hobby was researching for this manuscript, and he dedicated his retirement years to writing this book. His wife Lorraine was his source of encouragement. He fifi nally completed his book only a few months before his death, February 10th, 1998. I am very proud to be his daughter, yours truly, Janice Gold-Orland.

Book excerpt: Reed continues his investigation into the Baconian theory of Shakespeare authorship, this time examining the many coincidences and similarities between the two men's lives and works. He argues that these similarities are too great to be explained away by chance and further supports the notion that they were the same person. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Coincidences; Bacon and Shakespeare Prince of Burgundy, I pray you, I supplicate and entreat you, as humbly as I am able to do, to make no further war upon the kingdom of France; withdraw at once all your forces from the towns and fortresses you are occupying in the kingdom. The noble king of France is ready to make peace with you, on any terms consistent with his honor; you will find no difficulty with him. I warn you, however, in the name of God in heaven, my right ful and sovereign Lord, and for the sake of your own well-being and honor, that you can win no battle against the loyal people of France; and that all those who war against the said kingdom of France, war against Jesus, the King, the King of heaven, and of all the world, my rightful and sovereign Lord. I pray you and beseech you with clasped hands not to do battle or fight against us, neither you, nor your family, nor your subjects. Be assured that however large an army you may bring against us, you will gain no victory over me; it will be a pity to fight a great battle and shed the blood of those who come against us. Written by William Henry Smith, a scholar of English literature and philosophy, this book argues that Bacon was the true author of Shakespeare's plays, and examines the evidence supporting this claim. With meticulous attention to detail and a passionate commitment to his subject, Smith makes a compelling case for a new understanding of this enduring literary mystery.
