Book excerpt: Scientific Study from the year 2016 in the subject Pedagogy - Media Pedagogy, , language: English, abstract: Traditional or conventional teachers have a phobia of using technology like a fear of looking foolish, fear of asking for help, fear of not ‘catching on’ quickly enough, and fear of not being able to be effective with the technology in instructional settings. It is important to understand that these fears were self-imposed and self-generated, but very real nevertheless. Technology has an essential role to play in reducing the disparities that exist between the developed and developing countries. Computers are especially important in this context, because so many computer applications have a direct bearing on some of the main facets of the development process and reflect certain aspects of the technology that has facilitated the growth of the economically advanced countries. This study investigates the different attitudes towards computers and analyses them.

Book excerpt: Computer knowledge and skills are becoming essential components technology in nursing education. Saudi nurses must be prepared to utilize these technologies for the advancement of science and nursing practice in local and global communities. Little attention has been directed to students' attitudes about computer usage in academic communities in Saudi Arabia. Their attitudes about the use of computers for the enhancement of learning are relatively unknown. Few research studies have been identified that explicate Saudi Arabian nursing students' attitudes toward computer usage for the acquisition of knowledge and skills. Despite studies that have been conducted in the United States and other western industrial countries about students' attitudes toward computers, such studies that focus on Saudi students' attitudes about computer usage in the learning environment are limited. There is no evidence that the use of computer technology in Saudi has been empirically examined. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the body of knowledge related to student nurses' attitudes toward computer usage during their pursuit of baccalaureate degrees in nursing at King Saud University

Book excerpt: There is a need to understand the factors correlating with teachers' instructional use of computers, because much of the present research focuses on students rather than teachers. This study examines several factors relating to the use of computers in the classroom by teachers. The factors examined include teacher attitudes, emotions, beliefs, and outside influences. This was done by a review of the present literature, administering two surveys, and analyzing the survey data. Questionnaires were distributed to faculty at five randomly selected high schools in a Midwest city participating in the study. Data from the survey was then examined to determine which factors correlate with teacher computer use in the classroom. The results of this study will help improve understanding of teachers' instructional computer use.

For what skills, grade levels, content areas, and type of students are computer applications most effective? Can computer applications improve student attitude toward school and decrease drop-out rates? Discover what the research reveals--in this provocative new book--about these and other crucial questions concerning the impact of computer-based instruction. Assessing the Impact of Computer-Based Instruction provides the most comprehensive and up-to-date summary available on the effects of computer applications on both student achievement and attitudes. Within its pages are also the most extensive bibliography ever prepared on past reviews of research, current reports and articles, and dissertations in the area of computer uses in education. This book was released on 2014-11-17 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nowadays, the implementation of ICT is of pivotal importance in every domain, education is no exception. It has become necessary for teachers to use computers and other technological tools in their teaching process insofar as it facilitates learning and improve students' level and achievement. This book examines teachers' negative or positive attitudes towards ICT. In addition, it studies the extent to which teachers who use and implement ICT in their teaching achieve better results than those who do not. This book which is an acedemic paper relies on two methodological procedures. First, it uses both online and hard format questionnaires to see to examine teachers' attitudes towards the use of ICT. Second, it makes use of an achievement test to check students' progress after one month and a half of teaching the same curriculum.
