Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to examine faculty membersâ perception of the status of technology support and services, their attitudes towards the incorporation of technology in general and with specific applications, and the barriers they perceive to technology use. Additionally, the study focused on the association among the predictor variables of faculty membersâ gender, age, professional status, years of higher education teaching experience, and tenure versus nontenure status with their degree of technology use. An online survey was designed to collect data to address the research questions in the study. The survey consisted of 44 questions, including areas for comments. Two-hundred ninety faculty members out of a possible 867 responded to the survey. Based on the results, conclusions have been drawn. According to the literature, the results of this study both contradict and support previous studies. Dimension 1, perceived technology support and services, and Dimension 2, perceived barriers to technology use, provided no significant difference when considering the demographic variables of age, gender, years of experience, faculty rank, and tenure versus nontenure status. Though, Dimension 3, attitudes towards the use of technology and specific applications, provided no significant difference when considering the demographic variable of age, faculty rank, and tenure versus nontenure status but there was a slight indication of significance based on years of experience. In addition, gender differences appeared among attitudes toward the use of technology and specific applications. Based on the results, females have been shown to have better attitudes toward the use of technology and specific applications, an area historically dominated by men. Also, faculty 3 members with 1-9 to 10-19 years of experience have better attitudes toward the use of technology. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study is to measure factors that may lead to adaptations by teachers in their instructional practices as they relate to technology integration in a 1:1 laptop environment in a Western Pennsylvania school district. Much has been done around the concept of technology integration in schools and the impact or lack of impact on student achievement. Most of the literature on technology use in schools centers around availability and access to technology in the classroom setting. This study looks at the actual integration of technology through instructional delivery in the classroom. Teacher perceptions with regard to their own instructional practices were gathered using the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) Framework and measured next to classroom observational practices as gathered by building administrators throughout the school year. If teacher perceptions using TPACK correlate with instructional technology delivery as measured by classroom observation using SAMR and the Charlotte Danielson Framework, then districts may be able to ensure their investment in technology by focusing on factors that increase likelihood of actual use in the classroom. Participants in this study reported above average comfort with regard to technology as related to technology knowledge and technology pedagogy knowledge which may be attributed to the time and investment in teaching staff by the district through ongoing professional development activities. In addition, teachers were observed implementing technology in their classrooms, in some cases at a higher level of implementation on the SAMR scale, as observed through walkthrough observations. Finally, the district in this study saw tremendous gains by first time test takers on state the mandated standardized test since the inception of the 1:1 initiative which might be attributed to the above mentioned professional development activities focused on technology, technology content creation, and instructional technology delivery.

However, research has shown that it is not only the technology that is important, but also how it is used that improves learning and increases pupils’ interest. In view of this, since not much was known about the teacher’s attitude use of technologies in training colleges in Kenya, Therefore, this study was designed to establish teachers’ attitudes towards the use of instructional technologies in Kericho teacher training college Kenya. The technologies studied were chalkboards, flip charts, overhead projectors, videos, computers, and local resources from the environment. The design of the study was descriptive survey method involving both qualitative and quantitative research methodology. The target population for this study comprised of19 tutors. The study adopted questionnaire and Interview Guide. The researcher make used of stratified random, purposive sampling and simple random sampling. The reliability of instrument was tested using Cronbach Coefficient Alpha to determine the internal consistency of the items in the questionnaire. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze data from the Questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed and descriptively presented with frequencies and percentages, while tables were used to enhance vivid illustrations. The results of the study showed that respondents agreed on the importance of using the technologies. Despite the teaching materials helping to elaborate difficult concepts, the teachers agreed that producing them requires too much time, which to some extent threatens the availability of these self-produced teaching materials. On the other hand, the teachers were eager to learn how to use the higher-order technologies. This finding clearly shows that they need the training to be able to use the technologies. The study concludes with a suggested process for how government and the teacher training institutions can work collaboratively to maximize the use of instructional technologies in the teaching and learning process for prospective teachers. Several possibilities for further research on the use of instructional technologies have been highlighted.
