Download or read book Arthrogryposis written by Lynn T. Staheli and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1998-04-28 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term arthrogryposis describes a range of congenital contractures that lead to childhood deformities. It encompasses a number of syndromes and sporadic deformities that are rare individually but collectively are not uncommon. Yet, the existing medical literature on arthrogryposis is sparse and often confusing. The aim of this book is to provide individuals affected with arthrogryposis, their families, and health care professionals with a helpful guide to better understand the condition and its therapy. With this goal in mind, the editors have taken great care to ensure that the presentation of complex clinical information is at once scientifically accurate, patient oriented, and accessible to readers without a medical background. The book is authored primarily by members of the medical staff of the Arthrogryposis Clinic at Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, one of the leading teams in the management of the condition, and will be an invaluable resource for both health care professionals and families of affected individuals.

Book Synopsis Metallography and Microstructure in Ancient and Historic Metals by : David A. Scott
Download or read book Metallography and Microstructure in Ancient and Historic Metals written by David A. Scott and published by Getty Publications. This book was released on 1992-01-02 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David A. Scott provides a detailed introduction to the structure and morphology of ancient and historic metallic materials. Much of the scientific research on this important topic has been inaccessible, scattered throughout the international literature, or unpublished; this volume, although not exhaustive in its coverage, fills an important need by assembling much of this information in a single source. Jointly published by the GCI and the J. Paul Getty Museum, the book deals with many practical matters relating to the mounting, preparation, etching, polishing, and microscopy of metallic samples and includes an account of the way in which phase diagrams can be used to assist in structural interpretation. The text is supplemented by an extensive number of microstructural studies carried out in the laboratory on ancient and historic metals. The student beginning the study of metallic materials and the conservation scientist who wishes to carry out structural studies of metallic objects of art will find this publication quite useful.

Practising foundry engineers, designers, and students will find the revealing insights into the behaviour of castings essential in developing their inderstanding and practice. John Campbell OBE is a leading international figure in the castings industry, with over four decades of experience. He is the originator of the Cosworth Casting Process, the pre-eminent production process for automobile cylinder heads and blocks. He is also co-inventor of both the Baxi Casting Process (now owned by Alcoa) developed in the UK, and the newly emerging Alotech Casting Process in the USA. He is Professor of Casting Technology at the University of Birmingham, UK. - New edition of this internationally respected reference and textbook for engineers and students - Develops understanding of the concepts and practice of casting operations - Castings' is the key work on castings technology and process metallurgy, and an essential resource on contemporary developments and thinking on the new metallurgy of cast alloys - Revised and updated throughout, with new material on subjects including surface turbulence, the new theory of entrainment defects including folded film defects, plus the latest concepts of alloy theory
Download or read book Titanium written by Gerd Lütjering and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors were motivated to prepare this book by the absence of any recent comprehensive book on titanium. The intent of this book is to provide a modern compendium that addresses both the phyical metallurgy as well as the applications of titanium. Until now the only book on this subject is that by Zwicker which was written in German and published almost 30 years ago. Chapter 1 is an introduction to the subject including some historical aspects of titanium. Chapter 2 is a s- mary of the Fundamental Aspects of Titanium, Chapter 3 is a summary of the Technological Aspects of Titanium and Chapters 4 through 9 address the specifics of the various classes of titanium ranging from CP Titanium to Titanium Matrix Composites. Finally, Chapter 10 covers “special” properties and applications of titanium. Our intent has been to address the subject conceptually rather than provide quantities of data of the sort that would be found in a Handbook. It is our intent that this book is useful for materials scientists and engineers interested in using titanium and for students either as a sourcebook or as a textbook. We have - tempted to include a representative set of references which provide additional detail for readers interested in specific aspects of titanium. Because of the re- tively recent growth of the technological importance of titanium, there is a vo- minous literature on titanium. While our references span this literature it has proven impossible to mention every contribution.
