Book Synopsis Instream Temperature Modeling and Fishery Impact Assessment for the Proposed Susitna Hydroelectric Project by : William J. Wilson
Download or read book Instream Temperature Modeling and Fishery Impact Assessment for the Proposed Susitna Hydroelectric Project written by William J. Wilson and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A simulation model, SNTEMP or Stream Network Temperature Simulation Model, was designed to examine temperature-related effects on fishes that could be caused by the proposed hydroelectric dams on the Susitna River. Effects of the Susitna reservoir on fishery resources is analyzed in one-dam and two-dam scenarios. Thermal preferences and tolerance criteria were developed for the five Pacific salmon species in the Susitna River, and the predictions from SNTEMP are compared to the various life phase temperature criteria.

Book Synopsis Susitna Hydroelectric Project by : Linda Perry Dwight
Download or read book Susitna Hydroelectric Project written by Linda Perry Dwight and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In November 1979 the Alaska Power Authority (APA) contracted Acres American Inc. to produce a feasibility plan for the Susitna Hydroelectric Project. The application for license is to be submitted to FERC. Exhibit E of that application includes a discussion of effects of existing instream flow uses on project water for irrigation, domestic supplies, and industrial and other purposes. To support that discussion in Exhibit E, an instream flow assessment is being conducted, and a telephone survey was undertaken in January 1981 as the initial step in the development of an instream flow study plan. This document contains a description and analysis of the survey and completed interview forms. As part of APA's public participation program, representatives of federal and state agencies, public interest groups, and Native corporations were interviewed.

Book Synopsis 2012 Instream Flow Planning Study, Summary Review of Susitna River Aquatic and Instream Flow Studies Conducted in the 1980s with Relevance to Proposed Susitna-Watana Dam Project - 2012 by : R2 Resource Consultants
Download or read book 2012 Instream Flow Planning Study, Summary Review of Susitna River Aquatic and Instream Flow Studies Conducted in the 1980s with Relevance to Proposed Susitna-Watana Dam Project - 2012 written by R2 Resource Consultants and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The construction and operation of the Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project will affect Susitna River flows downstream of the dam; the degree of these effects will ultimately depend on final Project design and operating characteristics. The potential alteration in flows will influence downstream resources/processes, including fish and aquatic biota and their habitats, channel form and function including sediment transport, water quality, groundwater/surface water interactions, ice dynamics, and riparian and wildlife communities. Determining the effects of Project operations on the different resources and processes is the focus of a series of studies that are presented in this report.
