Book Synopsis Asphalt Materials and Mix Design Manual by : Irving Kett
Download or read book Asphalt Materials and Mix Design Manual written by Irving Kett and published by William Andrew. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to familiarize industry and students with the technology of asphalt in its several forms namely asphalt cement, cutback asphalt, and asphalt emulsions. The laboratory work is designed to develop an understanding of asphalt properties, characteristics, testing procedures, and specifications. The procedures outlined are all derived from ASTM designations and practice as recommended by the Asphalt Institute. Where the particular ASTM method permits alternate procedures, the one more applicable to the available equipment and the teaching situation was chosen. The manual consists of the following: ò 35 of the frequently used ASTM tests in Asphalt Binder and Mix Design. ò Sample computations and easy to use data sheets, most of which have been developed specifically for the manual. ò An up-to-date overview of Asphalt Technology including sources, historical development, and classifications of asphalt products. ò Easy to understand explanations for Voids Mineral Aggregate, Absorbed Asphalt, Effective Asphalt Content, Percent Air Voids, and Percent of Voids filled with Asphalt. ò A stand-alone asphalt manual, written specifically for university laboratory instruction, yet applicable for a commercial testing laboratory. Rarely will other reference materials need to be referred to. ò Dimensions in both the SI and the US Standard systems of measurement. ò An appendix with conversion factors, rules of safety and procedures, overview of SHRP SUPERPAVE, explanation of asphalt emulsions, and additional data sheets on single-sided pages.

Book Synopsis Research of New Concepts in Asphalt Mix Design by :
Download or read book Research of New Concepts in Asphalt Mix Design written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this research, a systematic performance tests of asphalt mixtures of different types of gradations with various asphalt contents have been carried out to analyze the following characteristics of the asphalt mixture:1)high temperature rutting. 2)low temperature cracking resistance. 3)moisture stability. 4)fatigue resistance. 5)skid resistance. combined with previous studies, a system of proportioning design method of asphalt mixture is established to suit for applying in various climate areas of China. A recommended optimal proportions of asphalt mixture for each of the climate areas is also presented in this study. While the high-temperature rutting is taken as the control factor for the climate area where yearly extreme low temperature is higher than -21.5 o C and the average maximum temperature in July is higher than 30 o C. The low-temperature cracking is considered as the main control factor for the climate areas where yearly extreme low temperature is lower than -21.5 o C and the average maximum temperature in July is lower than 30 o C. For the rest of climate areas, both low-temperature cracking and high-temperature rutting of asphalt mixture are designed as the control factors. Download or read book Deformation Characteristics of Geomaterials written by V.A. Rinaldi and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2015-12-11 with total page 1236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In November 2015, Buenos Aires, Argentina became the location of several important events for geo-professionals, with the simultaneous holding of the 6th International Symposium on Deformation Characteristics of Geomaterials, the 15th Pan-American Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (XV PCSMGE), the 8th South American Congress on Rock Mechanics (SCRM), as well as the 22nd Argentinean Congress of Geotechnical Engineering (CAMSIGXXII). This synergy provided a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss current and future practices in the areas of soil mechanics and rock mechanics, and their applications in civil, energy, environmental, and mining engineering. This book presents the proceedings of the 6th International Symposium on Deformation Characteristics of Geomaterials. As well as 118 articles selected for publication after peer review, it includes 7 lectures delivered by invited keynote speakers and the Third Bishop Lecture, delivered by Professor Herve Di Benedetto of the University of Lyon, France, who presented a reference work on the advanced testing and modeling of bituminous bounded and unbounded granular materials. The conference brought together practitioners, researchers and educators from around the world engaged in the understanding of the deformation properties of geo-materials before failure, and the small strain parameters as fundamental characteristics of geo-materials. The main topics covered by the symposium include experimental investigations from very small strains to beyond failure, including multi-physical approach; HTC M coupling behavior, characterization and modeling of various geo-materials and interfaces; and practical prediction and interpretation of ground responses: field observation and case histories.
