Book Synopsis International Journal of Transmedia Literacy (IJTL) Vol 1, No 1 (2015) by : AA. VV.
Download or read book International Journal of Transmedia Literacy (IJTL) Vol 1, No 1 (2015) written by AA. VV. and published by LED Edizioni Universitarie. This book was released on 2016-04-20T15:05:00+02:00 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forms of fiction and literature underwent a process of disembodiment and cross-fertilization during the revolution from the Gutenberg Galaxy (printed paper, mass distribution) to the McLuhan Galaxy (new media, hypertext, cooperative writing). The dimension of literacy has moved from a semioticallymeasured geometry to a dislocation and a deconstruction of contents and channels that give expression to new products. The impact of social media on narratology has redefined the meaning of readership and authorship. The author not only loses his/her traditional role, but becomes an icon of himself/herself, a collective-minded producer that is self-perceived through the extroflexed eye of the amniotic network in which he/she defines his/her narrative experience. Transmedia culture defines a new cross-networked and amniotic literacy, considering that we are not facing a simple adaptation of different narrative forms from one media to another: different media and languages participate and contribute to the construction of a transmedia environment. The first issue of the IJTL seeks to shed light on transmedia literacy according to the epistemological crisis of authorship and the new dimension of participation and relationship offered by both the Web and New Media. Moving from the state of the art, the aim is to investigate the interdisciplinary relations in the field of transmedia literacy, in order to favour a pattern recognition about theories, technologies, and social dimensions of the phenomena to offer a critical toolkit to understand and map out the emerging knowledge and practices created by this new field.
Book Synopsis International Journal for Digital Art History: Issue 3, 2018 by : Liska Surkemper
Download or read book International Journal for Digital Art History: Issue 3, 2018 written by Liska Surkemper and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2019-02-18 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Art History is centrally concerned with a vast array of three-dimensional objects, such as sculptures, and spaces, such as architecture. Digital technologies allow the creation of virtual spaces, which in turn allow us to simulate and compare aspects of a visual culture's three-dimensional timespace that cannot be communicated as a single, still image. The third issue, thus, focusses on the third dimension in Art History, and the digital realm that continues to mediate and transform it.

Book Synopsis The Nanotechnology Revolution by : Dale A. Stirling
Download or read book The Nanotechnology Revolution written by Dale A. Stirling and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-17 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanotechnology is changing the world in a very big way, but at the atomic and sub-atomic level. Although the roots of nanotechnology can be traced back to more than a century ago, the last three decades have witnessed an explosion of nano-based technologies and products. This reference work examines the history, current status, and future directions of nanotechnology through an exhaustive search of the technical and scientific literature. The more than 4000 bibliographic citations it includes are carefully organized into core subject areas, and a geographic and subject index allows readers to quickly locate documents of interest. Although a sense of the global reach and interest in nanotechnology can be gleaned from the reference sections of countless journal articles, conference papers, and books, this is the only reference work providing an in-depth global perspective that is ready-made for nanotechnology professionals and those interested in learning more about all things nanotechnology. Despite the abundance of online resources, there is still an urgent need for well-researched, well-presented, concise, and thematically organized reference works. Instead of relying on wiki pages, citation aggregators, and related websites, the author searched the databases and databanks of scholarly literature search providers such as EBSCO, ProQuest, PUBMED, STN International, and Thomson Reuters. In addition, he used select serials-related databases to account for pertinent documents from countries in which English is not the primary national language (i.e., China Online Journals, e-periodica, J-STAGE, and SciELO Brazil among others).

Book Synopsis Cinéma&Cie. International Film Studies Journal. by : Aa. Vv.
Download or read book Cinéma&Cie. International Film Studies Journal. written by Aa. Vv. and published by Mimesis. This book was released on 2016-10-11T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For a long time, comparisons of cinema and photography have been predominantly a question of contrast, both of their forms and their ways of seeing. This special issue of Cinéma & Cie reverses the perspective, by addressing some of the fundamental spaces of convergence and coexistence between the two languages. While they have alwaysbeen somewhat present in the history of the two arts (not only in chronophotography, but also astronomic photography, photographic series, and still photography), the photocinematic forms have become particularlyrelevant in the archaeology of post-media culture that has characterised much scholarship lately. What tools should we employ to study these confluences today? Is it possible to perceive overlapping images also in strictly cinematic or photographic works? From this perspective, the special issue deals with borderline authors, such as Jeff Wall; post-filmic aesthetics, such as the cinematic tableau vivant and innovative examples of contemporary, experimental audiovisual production.
Book Synopsis New Critical Spaces in Transitional Justice by : Arnaud Kurze
Download or read book New Critical Spaces in Transitional Justice written by Arnaud Kurze and published by Indiana University Press. This book was released on 2019-01-10 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1980s, transitional justice mechanisms have been increasingly applied to account for mass atrocities and grave human rights violations throughout the world. Over time, post-conflict justice practices have expanded across continents and state borders and have fueled the creation of new ideas that go beyond traditional notions of amnesty, retribution, and reconciliation. Gathering work from contributors in international law, political science, sociology, and history, New Critical Spaces in Transitional Justice addresses issues of space and time in transitional justice studies. It explains new trends in responses to post-conflict and post-authoritarian nations and offers original empirical research to help define the field for the future.
Book Synopsis Visuality and Identity in Post-millennial Indian Graphic Narratives by : E. Dawson Varughese
Download or read book Visuality and Identity in Post-millennial Indian Graphic Narratives written by E. Dawson Varughese and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-16 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates the intersection of Indian society, the encoding of post-millennial modernity and ‘ways of seeing’ through the medium of Indian graphic narratives. If seeing in Indian cultures is a mode of knowing then what might we decode and know from the Indian graphic narratives examined here? The book posits that the ‘seeing’ of post-millennial Indian graphic narratives revolves around a visuality of the inauspicious, complemented by narratives of the same. Examining both form and content across nine Indian, post-millennial graphic narratives, this book will appeal to those working in South Asian visual studies, cultural studies and comics-graphic novel studies more broadly.
