Book excerpt: Once again, Thomas Taylor gives us a look over the shoulder of world-class protectors. Two years after the events in Mortal Shield, Lieutenant David Armstrong and his team from the Governor's Security Division return to find themselves and their protectee -- Missouri Governor William Ulysses Stovall -- in harm's way. Stovall has teamed up with a firebrand Islamic cleric, Imam Adel al-Walid, to take on Islamic extremists. When they announce a high profile town hall meeting with national impact at the historic Gateway Arch in St. Louis, a group of violent homegrown terrorists decide it's the ideal target. What follows is a race inside the upper reaches of the Arch with terrorists closing in on Stovall and his protectors from all sides. Armstrong and his team will once again be tested to the limits of their abilities, their dedication, and their willingness to put their lives on the line to protect the First Family. Not everyone will make it out alive.

Book excerpt: A novel inspired by #1 New York Times best-selling author Mark Greaney’s Audible Original drama, Armored. Joshua Duffy is a Close Protection Agent—a professional bodyguard—and he's one of the world's elite operatives. That is, he was until his last mission in Lebanon. Against all odds, Josh got his primary out alive, but the cost was high. Josh lost his lower left leg. There's not much call for an elite bodyguard with such an injury. So, Josh has to support his family working as a mall cop in New Jersey. For a man like Josh, this is purgatory on earth, but miracles can occur even in Paramus. A lucky run-in with an old comrade promises to get Josh back in the field for one last job. The UN is sending a peace mission into the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico, an area so dangerous it's known as Espinazo del Diablo—the Devil's Spine. Only a fool would think they could broker peace between the homicidal drug cartels in the region, and only a madman would sign on to keep those fools alive.

Download or read book Paths of Armor written by Vic Hillery and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2019-12-06 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paths of Armor, first published in 1950, is the account of the historic 5th Armored Division from the time of its formation in October 1941, until the end of the World War II in May 1945. Included in this kindle edition are more than 100 pages of photographs and maps. Because of the secrecy of its missions and the speed at which it moved, the Division was also known as "Patton's Ghosts" (the division was part of Patton's Third Army), and because of its many successes, as the "Victory Division." Following training in the U.S., the Division transferred to England, and landed on Utah Beach in Normandy on July 24, 1944. Then followed months of combat as the Division moved across northern France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and into Germany. In December 1944, the Division took part in the fierce fighting in the Hurtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge.
