Book excerpt: British literature often refers to pagan and classical themes through richly detailed landscapes that suggest more than a mere backdrop of physical features. The myth-inspired writings of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Algernon Blackwood, Aleister Crowley, Lord Dunsany and even Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows informed later British films and television dramas such as The Owl Service (1969-70), Blood on Satan's Claw (1971), The Wicker Man (1973), Excalibur (1981) and Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975). The author analyzes the evocative language and esthetics of landscapes in literature, film, television and music, and how "psycho-geography" is used to explore the influence of the past on the present.

Book excerpt: A compelling brew of mystery, crime, and science revealing the details behind the search for the lost Ark of the Covenant. The Lost Ark of the Covenant is one of the great historical mysteries of all time. To believers, the Ark is the legendary vessel holding the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments. The Bible contains hundreds of references to the Ark's power to level mountains, destroy armies, and lay waste to cities. The Ark itself, however, mysteriously disappears from recorded history sometime after the building of the Temple of Solomon. After ten years of searching through the dusty archives of Europe and the Middle East, as well as braving the real-life dangers of a bloody civil war in Ethiopia, Graham Hancock has succeeded where scores of others have failed. This intrepid journalist tracked down the true story behind the myths and legends--revealing where the Ark is today, how it got there, and why it remains hidden. Part fascinating scholarship and part entertaining adventure yarn, tying together some of the most intriguing tales of all time--from the Knights Templar and Prester John to Parsival and the Holy Grail--this book will appeal to anyone fascinated by the revelation of hidden truths, the discovery of secret mysteries.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do the Ark of the Covenant, Mary's reliquary box, and Jesus' Coffer all have the same imagery? Was the Ark the container of the Covenant, the Ten Commandments, or the Chalice? Does the image of the Shroud of Turin contain a bioelectric field? These questions and others will be explored in The Ark, The Shroud, and Mary. Author Philip Gardiner recently won the acclaim of both scholars and the reading public with The Serpent Grail, which united three of the most mysterious objects known to man—the Grail, Elixir, and Philosophers Stone. Now, in this unique and thought-provoking work Gardiner proves that the Ark of the Covenant, the Shroud of Turin, and Mary are united in ways never before imagined. Travelling across the world, from Rome to India, Portugal to Egypt, Gardiner uncovers the trail of the Ark and finds that it does not lead to Ethiopia, as many believe, but instead in a direction that nobody could have imagined. The trail of the Ark takes Gardiner on a hunt into the very heart of an ancient secret society with clandestine meetings in far-off lands. Uniting the myth, tradition, and language of the Ark with the Shroud of Turin, Gardiner then goes on to re-date it, reveal how it was made, and identify whose image it actually recreates. Through his new-found contacts in the world of secret societies, Gardiner then shows how this incredible secret was protected by a dual brotherhood throughout time and was the secret source of the enlightenment spoken of by numerous orders from the Sufis to the Knights Templar. The Ark, The Shroud, and Mary outshines The Da Vinci Code for the simple reason that it is the factual story of one man's fight to uncover the truth.

Book excerpt: A METAPHYSICAL PICARESQUE ADVENTURE INTO THE GEOMANTIC MYSTERIES OF THE EARTH WITH ANGELIC ACCOMPANIMENT In 2095, three Light grid engineers undertake a world restoration tour of the esoteric energy body of the planet to fine-tune an upgrade that started in 2020. Their “fixer-upper” itinerary takes them to England, Montenegro, South Africa, Ethiopia, Colombia, Armenia, Pakistan, South Korea, Finland—14 stops in all. The Earth has been birthing a landscape of Light and Truth out of itself since 2020, but it needs some professional tweaking and housecleaning to complete its transformation. Some “parties” vigorously oppose this upgrade and have to be dealt with; others heartily support it. It’s been like that since the beginning of the Earth. Lars Jaanusson, a Boston book editor, narrates the fieldwork in a manner that is both whimsical and serious. “The tour was an immersion in mythopoesis. You find you’re living and working inside the world’s myths when you do this work. Much is at stake, but you have to stay light-hearted on the job,” he says. Lars and his two companions, Beatrice Goldoni from Italy and Bogdan Hazurov from Bulgaria, enjoy the technical assistance of two angelic orders. The Ofanim, jokey and amiable while brandishing huge swords of Light, and the Serafim, doing business as the fierce Valkyries of legend who take no prisoners among the enemies of the Earth. The planet’s upgrade, just finishing up in 2095, was scheduled at its inception, in fact, as early as its design phase. Many of its problems and enemies go back to that beginning too. Not everyone was in favor of a world with this much Light and Truth and so elegant a geometric design or “grid” in Light. That’s why much of the narrative recounts what it took to pull out the deep, resistant, dark-minded roots that have disturbed the Earth and humans for millennia. It’s an altogether different take on the Apocalypse.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The truth of Lucifer and Sophia is the world’s biggest secret,” said Joe. “To get this story right, you basically have to retell the history of reality itself.” That’s what Joe, Mike, and Ronald, pals since childhood and now in their late sixties, set out to do. Lucifer and Sophia were the first two archangels ever created, but their reputations today are in ruins or obscurity. They want to find out why. After much travelling and on-site investigation, they discover that the true story of these two primary archangels is not what people have thought. It is the key that unlocks the purpose and destiny of the Earth. The final outcome of humanity is implicated too. Many diverse cultures maintain cultural images of these two figures, and in many cases, their images are positive, uplifting, even comic. This trio of geomythic researchers take the Greek icon of Prometheus bound on Mount Caucasus for defying Zeus as their rallying point and seek to probe its true meaning. Mythic images, especially old ones, need to be decoded for the modern mind. They tend to have layers of meaning and you shortchange yourself if you either dismiss them or take them only on a literal basis. You have to jump into them psychically, put them on like clothes, and get mythopoeic about these old stories. Along the way, as they visit sites in America, the British Isles, Japan, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe, Chile, Mexico, and other far-flung locales, they’re assisted by angels, Ray Masters, and the genius loci of the many sites that preserve a myth of these two archangels. Foremost among the places visited is Ireland, the legendary Emerald Isle, and it turns out this island nation, anciently called Ériu-Land after its presiding landscape goddess, has a pivotal world role to play in the restitution of these mythic figures and the future well-being of the planet and its humanity.

Book excerpt: This is the story of a how a little known manuscript in a Masonic Lodge in Kirkwall has become one of the most important historical documents of the Middle Ages. It is also the story of the Templars, who were its guardians, and of what happened to them after the Crusades. Although references to this famous order of military knights rarely appears in standard histories of the time, a great deal of information about them can be gleaned from other, more esoteric sources, such as sculpture and architecture. Suppressed by Philip of France out of greed, the Templars were gradually driven underground in more and more European countries. Yet they continued to exist, still guarding the knowledge and relics that they had gathered for the defence of the Holy Land. It is this that connects all this to Henry St Clair, Earl of Orkney and Grand Master of the Knights Templar and discoverer of America. All of these threads come together in one extraordinary scroll still in Kirkwall which revelas in full the secrets of the Knights Templar.
