Book Synopsis Equations of Motion in Relativistic Gravity by : Dirk Puetzfeld
Download or read book Equations of Motion in Relativistic Gravity written by Dirk Puetzfeld and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-06-01 with total page 842 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume aims to be a comprehensive survey on the derivation of the equations of motion, both in General Relativity as well as in alternative gravity theories. The topics covered range from the description of test bodies, to self-gravitating (heavy) bodies, to current and future observations. Emphasis is put on the coverage of various approximation methods (e.g., multipolar, post-Newtonian, self-force methods) which are extensively used in the context of the relativistic problem of motion. Applications discussed in this volume range from the motion of binary systems -- and the gravitational waves emitted by such systems -- to observations of the galactic center. In particular the impact of choices at a fundamental theoretical level on the interpretation of experiments is highlighted. This book provides a broad and up-do-date status report, which will not only be of value for the experts working in this field, but also may serve as a guideline for students with background in General Relativity who like to enter this field.

Book Synopsis The Eternal Quest by : Mukund D. Gangal
Download or read book The Eternal Quest written by Mukund D. Gangal and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2024-10-18 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the prehistoric times, humans have wondered about the world around us. Ancients thought that the universe consisted of heaven and earth. With scientific knowledge, we know that the portion of the universe we can see has billions of galaxies. The great Maharishi scholars of the past and the brilliant scientists of our time pondered the key issues about the creator and the creation of this majestic universe. Modern science has been able to describe the development of our universe in great detail from just after the big-bang to the present time. The science of cosmology behind the understanding of the growth of the universe is very elegant and beautiful. There is simplicity behind the bewildering complexity of the scientific theories. Still, there are some important issues to be resolved. Many scientists are working to develop a theory of everything to address these deficits. This book describes the related scientific ideas at the conceptual level. Unfortunately, some of the key issues cannot be resolved by current science. This places us at the boundary between science and philosophy. One of the two key issues is how reality immerged out of the metaverse, an environment that did not have the elements of reality. The other issue is that the science can describe the laws of nature accurately but not how those were built into everything in reality. The ancient scholars also pondered about the creation issue and faced the same problems. They developed philosophical models based on creator centric ideas to explain creation. This book considers the ancient philosophical models and modern science of creation as a continuum of human thought. The philosophical models provide possible ideas that are beyond the scientific method. The four ancient models presented in this book are relevant in the modern times.
Book Synopsis Shock-Cloud Interaction in RX J1713.7−3946 by : Hidetoshi Sano
Download or read book Shock-Cloud Interaction in RX J1713.7−3946 written by Hidetoshi Sano and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-14 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a study of the young supernova remnant RX J1713.7-3946 in order to reveal the origin of cosmic rays in our galaxy. The study focuses on the X-ray and gamma radiation from the cosmic ray electrons and protons in the supernova remnant as well as the emission from the surrounding interstellar gas measured by the NANTEN2 4-m radio telescope at Nagoya University. The gamma rays show a good spatial correspondence with the interstellar gas, which for the first time provides strong evidence of the acceleration of cosmic ray protons. Additionally, the author determines that an interaction between the supernova shockwaves and interstellar gas, referred to as “shock-cloud interaction,” promotes the efficient acceleration of cosmic ray electrons in the supernova remnant. The book reveals that the interstellar gas plays an essential role in producing the high-energy radiation and cosmic rays, offering vital new insights into the origin and behavior of galactic cosmic rays.

Book Synopsis Classical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics: An Historic-Axiomatic Approach by : Peter Enders
Download or read book Classical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics: An Historic-Axiomatic Approach written by Peter Enders and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique textbook presents a novel, axiomatic pedagogical path from classical to quantum physics. Readers are introduced to the description of classical mechanics, which rests on Euler’s and Helmholtz’s rather than Newton’s or Hamilton’s representations. Special attention is given to the common attributes rather than to the differences between classical and quantum mechanics. Readers will also learn about Schrödinger’s forgotten demands on quantization, his equation, Einstein’s idea of ‘quantization as selection problem’. The Schrödinger equation is derived without any assumptions about the nature of quantum systems, such as interference and superposition, or the existence of a quantum of action, h. The use of the classical expressions for the potential and kinetic energies within quantum physics is justified. Key features: · Presents extensive reference to original texts. · Includes many details that do not enter contemporary representations of classical mechanics, although these details are essential for understanding quantum physics. · Contains a simple level of mathematics which is seldom higher than that of the common (Riemannian) integral. · Brings information about important scientists · Carefully introduces basic equations, notations and quantities in simple steps This book addresses the needs of physics students, teachers and historians with its simple easy to understand presentation and comprehensive approach to both classical and quantum mechanics..
Download or read book Mars written by Viorel Badescu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-12-07 with total page 716 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: th th Mars, the Red Planet, fourth planet from the Sun, forever linked with 19 and 20 Century fantasy of a bellicose, intelligent Martian civilization. The romance and excitement of that fiction remains today, even as technologically sophisticated - botic orbiters, landers, and rovers seek to unveil Mars’ secrets; but so far, they have yet to find evidence of life. The aura of excitement, though, is justified for another reason: Mars is a very special place. It is the only planetary surface in the Solar System where humans, once free from the bounds of Earth, might hope to establish habitable, self-sufficient colonies. Endowed with an insatiable drive, focused motivation, and a keen sense of - ploration and adventure, humans will undergo the extremes of physical hardship and danger to push the envelope, to do what has not yet been done. Because of their very nature, there is little doubt that humans will in fact conquer Mars. But even earth-bound extremes, such those experienced by the early polar explorers, may seem like a walk in the park compared to future experiences on Mars.
