Book Synopsis Perspectives on Lexicography in Italy and Europe by : Marina Foschi Albert
Download or read book Perspectives on Lexicography in Italy and Europe written by Marina Foschi Albert and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-10-02 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lexicography is a very special field of research, in which theory arises from concrete problems and practice moulds on theoretical assumptions in a way of working that is at the same time technical and innovative. The volume offers an overview of the main aspects of the state of art of lexicographical research in Europe, with contributions concerning both historical and synchronic dictionaries and a wide spectrum of the main European languages (French, English, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish). Several contributions show the beneficial effects deriving from the close connection between modern lexicography and information technology, which in the last few years profoundly changed the way of designing, realising and using dictionaries. An appendix contains some reflections on lexicography and translation, one of the most important functional goals for both monolingual and bilingual dictionaries.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: EL BIEN COMÚN EN LA POLICÍA, LA JUSTICIA Y LA GOBERNABILIDAD: UNA APROXIMACIÓN DESDE EL PENSAMIENTO DE SANTO TOMAS DE AQUINO.

Book Synopsis Filosofía trascendental, Fenomenología y Derecho natural by : Mariano Crespo

This book was released on 2018-06-04 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This volume contains the proceedings of a conference organized in May 2015 by the Instituto Cultura y Sociedad (University of Navarra). The scope of this conference was very wide as is proved by the variety of the contributions. They deal with such topics as the relationships between material value ethics and the idea of natural law, the distinction between the moral sphere and the sphere of law, the criticisms of those theories which ground human rights in natural law, the motives which lead us to consider certain facts and duties as consequences of social acts, the meaning of “freedom” in criminal law or the critical exam of such views which try to reduce the Philosophy of Law to some psychological, social or historical questions. However, despite their diversity, the contributions share two elements: on the one hand, the emphasis of the necessity of a dialogue between such different disciplines as Philosophy and Law focusing on a central question, namely, the existence of pre-positive elements, prior to every positive legislation and, on the other hand, the conviction that such elements have an own intelligibility.
Book Synopsis What AI Can Do by : Manuel Cebral-Loureda
Download or read book What AI Can Do written by Manuel Cebral-Loureda and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-08-01 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The philosopher Spinoza once asserted that no one knows what a body can do, conceiving an intrinsic bodily power with unknown limits. Similarly, we can ask ourselves about Artificial Intelligence (AI): To what extent is the development of intelligence limited by its technical and material substrate? In other words, what can AI do? The answer is analogous to Spinoza’s: Nobody knows the limit of AI. Critically considering this issue from philosophical, interdisciplinary, and engineering perspectives, respectively, this book assesses the scope and pertinence of AI technology and explores how it could bring about both a better and more unpredictable future. What AI Can Do highlights, at both the theoretical and practical levels, the cross-cutting relevance that AI is having on society, appealing to students of engineering, computer science, and philosophy, as well as all who hold a practical interest in the technology.

Book Synopsis Multilevel Protection of the Principle of Legality in Criminal Law by : Mercedes Pérez Manzano
Download or read book Multilevel Protection of the Principle of Legality in Criminal Law written by Mercedes Pérez Manzano and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-24 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the simultaneous protection of fundamental rights by various norms and jurisdictional organs, focussing on the multilevel protection of the principle of legality in Criminal Law.Written by accredited specialists in criminal law, constitutional law, international public law, and the philosophy of law, the majority of them ex-Counsels of the Spanish Constitutional Court, it addresses various manifestations of the principle of legality: the requirement of precision, the judicial subjection to law and the prohibition of bis in idem. It does so not only from a theoretical perspective, but also through a comparative study of the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Court of Justice of the European Union and state constitutional courts. This practical approach characterizes the book, which culminates in a detailed analysis of the relevant ECtHR Judgement Del Río Prada v. Spain on the retroactivity of unfavourable jurisprudence."Multilevel protection of the principle of legality in Criminal Law" is a useful instrument of reflection for scholars of both the principle of criminal legality and the problems that arise from the concurrency of protective jurisdictions of human rights.
Book Synopsis Bioethical Decision Making and Argumentation by : Pedro Serna
Download or read book Bioethical Decision Making and Argumentation written by Pedro Serna and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-26 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book clarifies the meaning of the most important and pervasive concepts and tools in bioethical argumentation (principles, values, dignity, rights, duties, deliberation, prudence) and assesses the methodological suitability of the main methods for clinical decision-making and argumentation. The first part of the book is devoted to the most developed or promising approaches regarding bioethical argumentation, namely those based on principles, values and human rights. The authors then continue to deal with the contributions and shortcomings of these approaches and suggest further developments by means of substantive and procedural elements and concepts from practical philosophy, normative systems theory, theory of action, human rights and legal argumentation. Furthermore, new models of biomedical and health care decision-making, which overcome the aforementioned criticism and stress the relevance of the argumentative responsibility, are included.
