Download or read book April's Breeze written by Gary Entwistle and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-07-11 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Late one dark April night in 1775, a young doctor from Concord leaves the Lexington home of his fiancee and her family; he is unexpectedly drawn into an alarm being spread across the countryside of colonial Massachusetts (and becomes a key participant) warning of an impending invasion by the king's troops from Boston. As the rebellion unfolds, Dr. Samuel Prescott and his family, as well as Lydia Mulliken and her family, face the difficulties of war. Samuel's obligations take him from eastern Massachusetts to Ticonderoga in New York, and from Boston to the coastline of Maine. Meanwhile, Lydia is focused on helping her widowed mother care for and protect two sisters and a younger brother while three other brothers are off fighting with the Continental Army; two of them participate in the stand on Lexington Green and the Battle of Bunker Hill. Both families deal with tragedy and unwavering hope as they endure the struggle for the birth of a nation. Throughout the ordeal, Lydia and Samuel, kept apart by individual and family needs, balance their endless desire to be reunited with the continual sacrifice and hardships of the fight for liberty. The spirit, determination, and resilience of people like those reflected in this story, many who were real people, created a new nation through these pivotal moments and battles of the American Revolution.

Book Synopsis The Wind in the Grass by : James C. McGuire
Download or read book The Wind in the Grass written by James C. McGuire and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some of the words within these pages are for music, and not just the poetry. 'The Wind In The Grass' tells of an Elsa, a Jeanne, and mostly, a Barbara. They're pages in a book, pushed along by an off -shore wind like the tall grass on the 'true' cape of Hatteras. There's a boxer in the 30's, a killing hurricane at sea, an imaginary French resistance fighter defending white wine. There's the Viking, Teymor, a lost soul and a lost story before recorded history; and a brave little tugboat at Pearl Harbor. There are words of loneliness, of wanting and not wanting, and other words, gentle and direct. 'The Wind In Th e Grass' is for all of us who understand silence and those of us intimidated by it. Life does get in the way. It's something we have to understand. As others rush by, it's up to us to motion to them, beckon and wave. Slow down, we should say...come over here. Let's sit and read together.
