Book excerpt: Mental health professionals often must make judgments or decisions involving vital matters. Is an individual likely to act violently? Has a child been sexually abused? Is a police officer fit to carry a gun? An explosion of research in clinical and cognitive psychology provides practical means for enhancing the accuracy of clinical decision making and prediction and thereby improving outcomes and the quality of care. Unfortunately, this research has not been broadly disseminated in the mental health field. The book is designed to familiarize readers with essential findings from decision science and its practical, immediate applications in the mental health field.

Book excerpt: As a generalization of fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets, neutrosophic sets have been developed to represent uncertain, imprecise, incomplete, and inconsistent information existing in the real world. And interval neutrosophic sets (INSs) have been proposed exactly to address issues with a set of numbers in the real unit interval, not just a specific number. However, there are fewer reliable operations for INSs, as well as the INS aggregation operators and decisionmakingmethod. For this purpose, the operations for INSs are defined and a comparison approach is put forward based on the related research of interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IVIFSs) in this paper. On the basis of the operations and comparison approach, two interval neutrosophic number aggregation operators are developed. Then, amethod formulticriteria decisionmaking problems is explored applying the aggregation operators. In addition, an example is provided to illustrate the application of the proposed method.

Book excerpt: The information expression and modeling of decision-making are critical problems in the fuzzy decision theory and method. However, existing trapezoidal neutrosophic numbers (TrNNs) and neutrosophic Z-numbers (NZNs) and their multicriteria decision-making (MDM) methods reveal their insufficiencies, such as without considering the reliability measures in TrNN and continuous Z-numbers in NZN. To overcome the insufficiencies, it is necessary that one needs to propose trapezoidal neutrosophic Z-numbers (TrNZNs), their aggregation operations, and an MDM method for solving MDM problems with TrNZN information.

Book excerpt: Frequently in real life situations decision making takes place under fuzzy conditions, because the corresponding goals and/or the existing constraints are not clearly defined. Maji et al. introduced in 2002 a method of parametric decision making using soft sets as tools and representing their tabular form as a binary matrix. As we explain here, however, in cases where some or all of the parameters used for the characterization of the elements of the universal set are of fuzzy texture, their method does not give always the best decision making solution. In order to tackle this problem, we modified in earlier works the method of Maji et al. by replacing the binary elements in the tabular form of the corresponding soft set either by grey numbers or by triangular fuzzy numbers. In this work, in order to tackle more efficiently cases in which the decision maker has doubts even about the correctness of the fuzzy/qualitative characterizations assigned to some or all of the elements of the universal set, we replace the binary elements of the tabular form by neutrosophic triplets. Our new, neutrosophic decision making method is illustrated by an application concerning the choice of a new player by a soccer club.

Book excerpt: Application of Decision Science in Business and Management is a book where each chapter has been contributed by a different author(s). The chapters introduce and demonstrate a decision-making theory to practice case studies. It demonstrates key results for each sector with diverse real-world case studies. Theory is accompanied by relevant analysis techniques, with a progressive approach building from simple theory to complex and dynamic decisions with multiple data points, including big data, lot of data, etc. Computational techniques, dynamic analysis, probabilistic methods, and mathematical optimization techniques are expertly blended to support analysis of multi-criteria decision-making problems with defined constraints and requirements. The book provides an interface between the main disciplines of engineering/technology and the organizational, administrative, and planning abilities of decision making. It is complementary to other sub-disciplines such as economics, finance, marketing, decision and risk analysis, etc.

Book excerpt: The present study aims to introduce the notion of bipolar neutrosophicHamacher aggregation operators and to also provide its application in real life. Then neutrosophic set (NS) can elaborate the incomplete, inconsistent, and indeterminate information, Hamacher aggregation operators, and extended Einstein aggregation operators to the arithmetic and geometric aggregation operators. First, we give the fundamental definition and operations of the neutrosophic set and the bipolar neutrosophic set. Our main focus is on the Hamacher aggregation operators of bipolar neutrosophic, namely, bipolar neutrosophic Hamacher weighted averaging (BNHWA), bipolar neutrosophic Hamacher ordered weighted averaging (BNHOWA), and bipolar neutrosophic Hamacher hybrid averaging (BNHHA) along with their desirable properties. The prime gain of utilizing the suggested methods is that these operators progressively provide total perspective on the issue necessary for the decision makers. These tools provide generalized, increasingly exact, and precise outcomes when compared to the current methods. Finally, as an application, we propose new methods for the multi-criteria group decision-making issues by using the various kinds of bipolar neutrosophic operators with a numerical model. This demonstrates the usefulness and practicality of this proposed approach in real life.

This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smarandache developed the idea of hypersoft set (HSS) theory as an extension of soft set (SS) theory. HSS provides a general mathematical framework for handling data that can be formulated as several trait-valued disjoint sets which blend to various traits. The major goal of this article is to lay the footing for supplying a new model called bipolar fuzzy hypersoft sets (BFHSSs) by linking both fuzzy sets (FSs) and HSSs under bipolarity property. By using positive and negative membership functions and multi-argument functions, these structures work best for testing uncertainty. This makes them better at solving real-world problems, especially ones that have both good and bad sides. This paper also has different operations for BFHSSs, such as absolute BFHSS, null BFHSS, complement, subset, union, intersection, and their related properties. Moreover, operations like OR and AND for BFHSS have been instituted. Some properties are demonstrated, and some numerical examples are given to illustrate the mechanism of using these tools. Finally, these tools are applied in the decision-making process based on an algorithm that is built.
