Download or read book Spacecraft Navigation and Guidance written by Maxwell Noton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analysis and computational techniques associated with the navigation and guidance of spacecraft are now in a mature state of development. However the documentation has remained dispersed throughout conference papers, journals, company and contract rep orts, making it difficult to get a true, comprehensive picture of the subject. This text brings together the body of literature with suitable attention to the necessary underlying mathematics and computational techniques. It covers in detail the necessary orbital mechanics, orbit determination with emphasis on the SRIF algorithm, gr avity assist manoeuvres and guidance, both ground-based and autonomous. Attention is paid to all phases of a space mission including launch and re-entry, and whether culminating in an earth satellite or a deep space mission to planets or primitive bodies. Software associated with the text is available free to the reader by means of the Internet server of the publisher. 'Spacecraft Navigation and Guidance' is an invaluable aid for all those working within astronautics, aeronautics, and control engineering in general.
Book Synopsis Analytical Evaluation of a Method of Midcourse Guidance for Rendezvous with Earth Satellites by : John M. Eggleston
Download or read book Analytical Evaluation of a Method of Midcourse Guidance for Rendezvous with Earth Satellites written by John M. Eggleston and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A digital-computer simulation was made of the midcourse (or ascent) phase of a rendezvous between a ferry vehicle and a space station. The simulation involved a closed-loop guidance system in which both the relative position and relative velocity between ferry and station are measured (by simulated radar) and the relative-velocity corrections required to null the miss distance computed and applied. The results are used to study the effectiveness of the guidance equations and the effects of errors in launch conditions and errors in the navigation (radar) data. Trajectories are presented for rendezvous with a space station in a circular orbit and in an elliptic orbit. (Author).

Book Synopsis Navigation and Guidance of Orbital Transfer Vehicle by : Xuefeng Li
Download or read book Navigation and Guidance of Orbital Transfer Vehicle written by Xuefeng Li and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-03 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses the entire flying process, starting from ground launching of the orbital transfer vehicle (OTV) to injecting payload into earth synchronous orbit, as an example for real-world engineering practices. It discusses in detail the analysis design and integrated OTV navigation and guidance system technologies in combination with the engineering experiences of the authors in analysis, design and integrated OTV navigation and guidance system applications, and the research on navigation and guidance theories. It focuses on establishing motion of air vehicle equations, control system hardware components, orbit prediction technology, inertial navigation and initial alignment technologies, INS/GNSS integrated navigation technologies, INS/CNS integrated navigation technologies, redundant fault tolerance and failure reconfiguration technology of inertial sensors, guidance and midcourse correction technologies and orbit control strategies. The book is a valuable reference book for the engineers, technicians and researchers who are engaged in analysis, design and integrated application of OTV navigation and guidance control systems. It can also be used as teaching material for postgraduates and senior undergraduates majoring in OTV navigation and guidance systems and other related subjects.
Book Synopsis An Approach Guidance Method Using a Single Onboard Optical Measurement by : Harold A. Hamer
Download or read book An Approach Guidance Method Using a Single Onboard Optical Measurement written by Harold A. Hamer and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An empirical method has been developed for onboard guidance within the sphere of influence of a celestial body. For guidance maneuvers made at a relatively large distance from the body, only one preselected measurement from a star to the body is required. Although the method is designed to control the magnitude of the periapsis radius (or entry angle), the periapsis position and velocity automatically remain close to the nominal values. For lunar approach, error analysis with an assumed one-sigma error of 10 seconds of arc in the optical angular measurements and a one-sigma velocity-cutoff error of 0.2 m/sec has shown that perilune radius can be controlled to a one-sigma accuracy of from 7 to 13 km, depending on the time the approach guidance is performed.

Download or read book Guidance Error Analysis and Orbit Determination Accuracies for the Apollo Vehicle written by P. Henry and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of the error analysis presented shows the feasibility of the proposed Apollo vehicle. The assumed accuracy of the optical vehicle-borne tracker of 0.0003 radians would produce sufficient accuracy to accomplish the mission without aid of earth based trackers during the midcourse and lunar phases of the flight.
