En este sentido, se presentan y discuten los métodos clásicos de análisis cinético y se introducen los métodos numéricos. Los esquemas de reacción comentados incluyen reacciones simples de orden variable, esquemas de reacciones en paralelo y en serie. Posteriormente se presenta la forma en que varios materiales (diferentes plásticos, biomasas, neumáticos...) se descomponen, junto con la ley cinética correspondiente. En las últimas secciones se comentan las tendencias actuales en el análisis térmico de polímeros (técnicas de análisis de gases acopladas a la termobalanza) y se tratan principios básicos del análisis térmico diferencial.

La transformación martensítica de la aleación Cu Zn Al presenta, en este sentido, una serie de ventajas importantes. Por un lado la transformación tiene lugar a temperaturas poco elevadas (tengamos en cuenta que el dispositivo experimental no nos permite trabajar por encima de los 373 K). Durante la transformación se genera una emisión acústica importante que podremos medir simultáneamente con la entalpía de transformación. Además, el tema, de gran interés en la actualidad, ofrece un campo de trabajo amplio con muchos aspectos poco estudiados.Hemos previsto, básicamente, dos tipos de medidas. Por un lado utilizando el calorímetro en forma clásica para medir la entalpía de transformación. Por otro lado, aprovechando la utilización de un corrector de inercia, que permite acelerar considerablemente la respuesta del calorímetro, pare realizar un estudio cinético que puede ser comparado con el obtenido simultáneamente a partir de las medidas de la emisión acústica. Hay que destacar que las características del calorímetro empleado a tal fin (JLM -E 4) son determinantes para llevar a término nuestro propósito. Además tenemos la posibilidad de utilizar un sistema calorimétrico clásico (JLM-E 1) de alta sensibilidad para realizar medidas en condiciones isotermas. Ambos calorímetros utilizan como detectores termopilas semiconductoras.En el primer capítulo presentamos un estudio bibliográfico general sobre la transformación martensítica y la emisión acústica. En el capítulo segundo describimos en forma detallada el dispositivo experimental utilizado. Finalmente, en el capítulo tercero presentamos todos los resultados experimentales obtenidos y avanzamos algunas interpretaciones." -- TDX.
