Book excerpt: Excerpt from Annals of the Harbaugh Family in America, From 1736-1856 These Annals have been gathered gradually during some years. In 1852 the Author began to record them in a syste matic historical order, under the title of Historical Reminis cences of my Ancestors, Preserved for my Children; and as such, they became privately known to some members of the family, who earnestly desired their publication, so that they might be accessible to the numerous descendants. Additional care was then bestowed on the subject - and this little book is the result. The reason why the notices of some branches of the family are more full and complete than others, is at once apparent. The necessary details could only be obtained by the assistance of members of the different branches; and in some cases such co-operation could not be secured. Much time has been spent, and many letters have been written, in the effort to make the record full. All that it was possible thus to collect is here faithfully preserved. Though minute details may here and there be wanting - some small twigs and buds may be missed - yet the historical tree, in its trunk and branches, is here described unbroken and complete, dur ing a growth of one hundred and twenty years.
