Book excerpt: “JAYALALITHAA WEALTH CASE: TRIAL COURT JUDGEMENT” (VOLUME TWO)” : This is a digitised, unabridged, and the original version of Jayalalithaa Wealth Case. Miss. Jayalalithaa, the six-times Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, India, was accused of misusing her office during her first tenure i.e. 1991-96. Thereafter she and three others were charged over amassing properties worth nearly 66 crore INR; 3000 acres worth assets inclusive of farm houses and bungalows, agricultural lands and private firms, vineyards and tea estates in Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad; moveable assets included 800 kg silver, 28 kg gold, 750 pair of shoes, 10,500 saris, 91 watches, and other valuables. The Karnataka Trial Court Judgement ended in their conviction on 27th September 2014; the High Court of Karnataka acquitted all of them from all the charges through its judgement on 11th May 2015; ironically “the Sword of Damocles” fell on Jayalalithaa (after her death on 6/12/2016) and three others through the Judgement of Supreme Court of India on 15th February 2017 in which the order, the conviction, and the sentence of the trial court was restored in full and the judgement of Karnataka High Court was set-aside. While the appeals relate to Miss. Jayalalithaa, she having expired meanwhile, stand abated, the remaining three accused are to meet the cold hands of Justice. This series of Judgements of Trial Court, High Court, and Supreme Court expose the finer aspects of this protracted litigation involving high profile people in the annals of Indian Legal History.

"The Immortal's Curse" weaves a tale of mystery, mythology, and redemption set against the backdrop of one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. When Rajan Kapoor, a young scholar with a thirst for knowledge, stumbles upon a cryptic symbol etched into the walls of an ancient temple, he unwittingly unlocks a doorway to a world of ancient secrets and forbidden knowledge. Joined by Inspector Anjaneya Kumar, a determined investigator with a keen eye for detail, and Vikram Kumar, a loyal friend with a thirst for adventure, Rajan embarks on a journey that will test his courage, challenge his beliefs, and unravel the mysteries of his own destiny. "The Immortal's Curse" is a journey into the heart of darkness, a testament to the enduring power of hope, and a tribute to the timeless spirit of Varanasi—a city where the past meets the present, and the echoes of eternity linger in the air. Join Rajan, Anjaneya, and Vikram as they embark on an adventure that will take them to the very brink of existence and beyond—a journey where the threads of fate are woven and the immortal's curse is both a burden and a blessing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is styled as a story-like narration, fusing two yugas – Treta and Dwapur yugas with an underlying theme of ‘Devotion and Divinity’. It is fashioned from an amusing thought in author’s mind that strongly urged him to fathom deep into the past and enjoy whatever it could grasp. Certainly, it worked and did find its own reflection in both the yugas. The result is profound! Hidden inside a vanara in Kishkindha, the mind could wander with devotion on Anjaneya. It could witness with bewilderment the unflinching faith of the mighty vanara towards the divine Sri Rama. In the form of a gopika, it could also cherish intimacy with the gopikas in Brindavan and relish their deep dedication and transcendental love towards the Divine Sri Krishna. Thus, behind this seemingly simple imaginative narration, the author subtly infuses sublime truths about the need to develop unegoistic and unselfish devotion on Divine Almighty to lead a purposeful life in this mortal world.

Book excerpt: Established in the middle of the sixteenth century, Bangalore has today become a center for high-technology research and production, the new "Silicon Valley" of India, with a metropolitan population approaching six million. It is also the site of the very popular annual performance called the "Karaga" dedicated to Draupadi, the polyandrous wife of the heroes of the pan-Indian epic of the Mahabharata. Through her analysis of this performance and its significance for the sense of the civic in Bangalore, Smriti Srinivas shows how constructions of locality and globality emerge from existing cultural milieus and how articulations of the urban are modes of cultural self-invention tied to historical, spatial, somatic, and ritual practices. The book highlights cultural practices embedded in urbanization, and moves beyond economistic arguments about globalization or their reliance on the European polis or the American metropolis as models. Drawing from urban studies, sociology, anthropology, performance studies, religion, and history, Landscapes of Urban Memory greatly expands our understanding of how the civic is constructed.

Book excerpt: Frank Lloyd Wright, a famous American Architect wrote "Architecture is that great living creative spirit which from generation to generation, from age to age, proceeds, persists, creates, according to the nature of man, and his circumstances as they change. That is really architecture. As one of the oldest civilisations in existence, our nation proudly flaunts its wonderful temples and historic monuments. It is matter of great pride that our country houses architectural marvels from centuries ago. Basically temples can be considered as a contact between man and God. The msot wonderful part is that the rituals and ceremonies performed carried in the temples can be scientifically related to the temple architecture. Its amazing that even centuries ago our architecture was so much developed. Temples built thousands of year ago have a design based on sacred geometric diagrams (Mandala) -- symbolized as a miniscule image of the universe with its coordinated organized structure Tamil Nadu is well known for its magnificient temples and is populary known as 'land of temples' for its grand temples that are architectural masterpieces. With 30,000 plus temples constructed by rulers of different dynasties over the years temples of state of Tamil Nadu are standing testimony to the rich Dravidian art and culture with each one showcasing a distinctive wonderful style, built by Chola, Pallava, Nayak, Pandya and Vijaynagar rulers, who were great patrons of art and architecture.

These revealed Divine Truths are called the Vedas. According to the teachings of the Vedas, God is the One without a second — the absolute, formless, and only Reality. God is referred to as Brahman, the Supreme Universal Soul. It is said in the Vedas that by His mere will, Brahman manifests Himself as this universe. Hence, creation, preservation and dissolution of this world are the three aspects of God. These three basic aspects of God are represented by the Trinity called as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. There are also other deities in Hinduism to personify the various other endless powers and aspects of God. These are the gods and goddesses of Hinduism. A brief idea about a few important gods and goddesses of Hinduism are given in this book.

Book excerpt: Swami says, “When a mother is feeding her child, you can see her inducing the child to eat by means of harsh words, a smile, a joke, a threat, or a story, diverting its attention, showing the child a dog, a flower, or the moon. I have also to adopt the same tactics to make you listen and assimilate the valuable food that is so necessary for your growth. That is the reason why I relate stories, sing, recite poems, etc. in My discourses!” With this inspiration, Bhagawan’s teachings and related moral stories are compiled in the form of this book from His Divine Discourses, for better understanding of His teachings. This book should help us in getting inspired, to put His teachings into practice in our daily lives and grow spiritually better and better, with each day.
