Para ello, se estudiaron en el periodo comprendido entre febrero del 2011 y diciembre 2013 todos los deportistas de ambos sexos que presentaron sintomas y signos atribuibles a lesiones deportivas de las partes blandas articulares y periarticulares del deporte de Tenis de Campo del Alto Rendimiento Cubano. La muestra quedo constituida por 17 deportistas de la preseleccion nacional, 10 del sexo masculino y 7 del femenino con edades comprendidas entre 16 y 25 anos. Los atletas procedieron de la consulta de Medicina del Deporte del Centro de Entrenamiento "19 de Noviembre" del este de la capital. La ecografia se utilizo como medio diagnostico demostrandose la eficacia de este proceder en los tenistas cubanos. El estudio arrojo que el mayor numero de lesiones fue del segmento corporal superior con un 48.5%, seguido del miembro inferior con un 30.3% y del tronco 21.2%. La lesion muscular traumatica resulto ser la de mayor incidencia con un 33.3% siendo la ruptura muscular del recto abdominal contralateral al saque la que predomino.
