This book was released on 2017-01-18 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is devoted to the proof of two related results. The first one asserts that if is a Radon measure in satisfyingfor -a.e. , then is rectifiable. Since the converse implication is already known to hold, this yields the following characterization of rectifiable sets: a set with finite -dimensional Hausdorff measure is rectifiable if and only ifH^1x2EThe second result of the monograph deals with the relationship between the above square function in the complex plane and the Cauchy transform . Assuming that has linear growth, it is proved that is bounded in if and only iffor every square .
Book Synopsis Reifenberg Parameterizations for Sets with Holes by : Guy David
Download or read book Reifenberg Parameterizations for Sets with Holes written by Guy David and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors extend the proof of Reifenberg's Topological Disk Theorem to allow the case of sets with holes, and give sufficient conditions on a set $E$ for the existence of a bi-Lipschitz parameterization of $E$ by a $d$-dimensional plane or smooth manifold. Such a condition is expressed in terms of square summability for the P. Jones numbers $\beta_1(x,r)$. In particular, it applies in the locally Ahlfors-regular case to provide very big pieces of bi-Lipschitz images of $\mathbb R^d$.

Book Synopsis Harmonic Analysis and Applications by : Carlos E. Kenig
Download or read book Harmonic Analysis and Applications written by Carlos E. Kenig and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2020-12-14 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The origins of the harmonic analysis go back to an ingenious idea of Fourier that any reasonable function can be represented as an infinite linear combination of sines and cosines. Today's harmonic analysis incorporates the elements of geometric measure theory, number theory, probability, and has countless applications from data analysis to image recognition and from the study of sound and vibrations to the cutting edge of contemporary physics. The present volume is based on lectures presented at the summer school on Harmonic Analysis. These notes give fresh, concise, and high-level introductions to recent developments in the field, often with new arguments not found elsewhere. The volume will be of use both to graduate students seeking to enter the field and to senior researchers wishing to keep up with current developments.
Book Synopsis The Riesz Transform of Codimension Smaller Than One and the Wolff Energy by : Benjamin Jaye
Download or read book The Riesz Transform of Codimension Smaller Than One and the Wolff Energy written by Benjamin Jaye and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2020-09-28 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fix $dgeq 2$, and $sin (d-1,d)$. The authors characterize the non-negative locally finite non-atomic Borel measures $mu $ in $mathbb R^d$ for which the associated $s$-Riesz transform is bounded in $L^2(mu )$ in terms of the Wolff energy. This extends the range of $s$ in which the Mateu-Prat-Verdera characterization of measures with bounded $s$-Riesz transform is known. As an application, the authors give a metric characterization of the removable sets for locally Lipschitz continuous solutions of the fractional Laplacian operator $(-Delta )^alpha /2$, $alpha in (1,2)$, in terms of a well-known capacity from non-linear potential theory. This result contrasts sharply with removability results for Lipschitz harmonic functions.
Book Synopsis Geometric Harmonic Analysis I by : Dorina Mitrea
Download or read book Geometric Harmonic Analysis I written by Dorina Mitrea and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-04 with total page 940 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents a comprehensive, self-contained, and novel approach to the Divergence Theorem through five progressive volumes. Its ultimate aim is to develop tools in Real and Harmonic Analysis, of geometric measure theoretic flavor, capable of treating a broad spectrum of boundary value problems formulated in rather general geometric and analytic settings. The text is intended for researchers, graduate students, and industry professionals interested in applications of harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory to complex analysis, scattering, and partial differential equations. Volume I establishes a sharp version of the Divergence Theorem (aka Fundamental Theorem of Calculus) which allows for an inclusive class of vector fields whose boundary trace is only assumed to exist in a nontangential pointwise sense.
Book Synopsis Singular Sets of Minimizers for the Mumford-Shah Functional by : Guy David
Download or read book Singular Sets of Minimizers for the Mumford-Shah Functional written by Guy David and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-10 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mumford-Shah functional was introduced in the 1980s as a tool for automatic image segmentation, but its study gave rise to many interesting questions of analysis and geometric measure theory. The main object under scrutiny is a free boundary K where the minimizer may have jumps. The book presents an extensive description of the known regularity properties of the singular sets K, and the techniques to get them. It is largely self-contained, and should be accessible to graduate students in analysis. The core of the book is composed of regularity results that were proved in the last ten years and which are presented in a more detailed and unified way.

Book Synopsis Geometric Harmonic Analysis III by : Dorina Mitrea
Download or read book Geometric Harmonic Analysis III written by Dorina Mitrea and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-12 with total page 980 pages. Volume III is concerned with integral representation formulas for nullsolutions of elliptic PDEs, Calderón-Zygmund theory for singular integral operators, Fatou type theorems for systems of elliptic PDEs, and applications to acoustic and electromagnetic scattering. Overall, this amounts to a powerful and nuanced theory developed on uniformly rectifiable sets, which builds on the work of many predecessors.

Book Synopsis Geometric Aspects of Functional Analysis by : Bo'az Klartag
Download or read book Geometric Aspects of Functional Analysis written by Bo'az Klartag and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-10-08 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As in the previous Seminar Notes, the current volume reflects general trends in the study of Geometric Aspects of Functional Analysis. Most of the papers deal with different aspects of Asymptotic Geometric Analysis, understood in a broad sense; many continue the study of geometric and volumetric properties of convex bodies and log-concave measures in high-dimensions and in particular the mean-norm, mean-width, metric entropy, spectral-gap, thin-shell and slicing parameters, with applications to Dvoretzky and Central-Limit-type results. The study of spectral properties of various systems, matrices, operators and potentials is another central theme in this volume. As expected, probabilistic tools play a significant role and probabilistic questions regarding Gaussian noise stability, the Gaussian Free Field and First Passage Percolation are also addressed. The historical connection to the field of Classical Convexity is also well represented with new properties and applications of mixed-volumes. The interplay between the real convex and complex pluri-subharmonic settings continues to manifest itself in several additional articles. All contributions are original research papers and were subject to the usual refereeing standards.
Book Synopsis Fractal Geometry and Stochastics by : Christoph Bandt
Download or read book Fractal Geometry and Stochastics written by Christoph Bandt and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fractal geometry is a new and promising field for researchers from different disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. It is used to model complicated natural and technical phenomena. The most convincing models contain an element of randomness so that the combination of fractal geometry and stochastics arises in between these two fields. It contains contributions by outstanding mathematicians and is meant to highlight the principal directions of research in the area. The contributors were the main speakers attending the conference "Fractal Geometry and Stochastics" held at Finsterbergen, Germany, in June 1994. This was the first international conference ever to be held on the topic. The book is addressed to mathematicians and other scientists who are interested in the mathematical theory concerning: • Fractal sets and measures • Iterated function systems • Random fractals • Fractals and dynamical systems, and • Harmonic analysis on fractals. The reader will be introduced to the most recent results in these subjects. Researchers and graduate students alike will benefit from the clear expositions.
Book Synopsis Rectifiable Sets, Densities and Tangent Measures by : Camillo De Lellis
Download or read book Rectifiable Sets, Densities and Tangent Measures written by Camillo De Lellis and published by European Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2008 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The characterization of rectifiable sets through the existence of densities is a pearl of geometric measure theory. The difficult proof, due to Preiss, relies on many beautiful and deep ideas and novel techniques. Some of them have already proven useful in other contexts, whereas others have not yet been exploited. These notes give a simple and short presentation of the former and provide some perspective of the latter. This text emerged from a course on rectifiability given at the University of Zurich. It is addressed both to researchers and students; the only prerequisite is a solid knowledge in standard measure theory. The first four chapters give an introduction to rectifiable sets and measures in Euclidean spaces, covering classical topics such as the area formula, the theorem of Marstrand and the most elementary rectifiability criterions. The fifth chapter is dedicated to a subtle rectifiability criterion due to Marstrand and generalized by Mattila, and the last three focus on Preiss' result. The aim is to provide a self-contained reference for anyone interested in an overview of this fascinating topic.
