Book Synopsis A Top-Down, Constraint-Driven Design Methodology for Analog Integrated Circuits by : Henry Chang
Download or read book A Top-Down, Constraint-Driven Design Methodology for Analog Integrated Circuits written by Henry Chang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analog circuit design is often the bottleneck when designing mixed analog-digital systems. A Top-Down, Constraint-Driven Design Methodology for Analog Integrated Circuits presents a new methodology based on a top-down, constraint-driven design paradigm that provides a solution to this problem. This methodology has two principal advantages: (1) it provides a high probability for the first silicon which meets all specifications, and (2) it shortens the design cycle. A Top-Down, Constraint-Driven Design Methodology for Analog Integrated Circuits is part of an ongoing research effort at the University of California at Berkeley in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department. Many faculty and students, past and present, are working on this design methodology and its supporting tools. The principal goals are: (1) developing the design methodology, (2) developing and applying new tools, and (3) `proving' the methodology by undertaking `industrial strength' design examples. The work presented here is neither a beginning nor an end in the development of a complete top-down, constraint-driven design methodology, but rather a step in its development. This work is divided into three parts. Chapter 2 presents the design methodology along with foundation material. Chapters 3-8 describe supporting concepts for the methodology, from behavioral simulation and modeling to circuit module generators. Finally, Chapters 9-11 illustrate the methodology in detail by presenting the entire design cycle through three large-scale examples. These include the design of a current source D/A converter, a Sigma-Delta A/D converter, and a video driver system. Chapter 12 presents conclusions and current research topics. A Top-Down, Constraint-Driven Design Methodology for Analog Integrated Circuits will be of interest to analog and mixed-signal designers as well as CAD tool developers.

Book Synopsis VLSI for Wireless Communication by : Bosco Leung
Download or read book VLSI for Wireless Communication written by Bosco Leung and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-11-06 with total page 567 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: VLSI for Wireless Communication, Second Edition, an advanced level text book, takes a system approach starting with an overview of the most up to date wireless systems and the transceiver architecture available today. Wireless standards are first introduced (updated to include the most recent 3G/4G standards in the second edition), and translates from a wireless standard to the implementation of a transceiver. This system approach is particularly important as the level of integration in VLSI increases and coupling between system and component design becomes more intimate. VLSI for Wireless Communication, Second Edition, illustrates designs with full design examples. Each chapter includes at least one complete design example that helps explain the architecture/circuits presented in this text. This book has close to 10 homework problems at the end of each chapter. A complete solutions manual is available on-line. VLSI for Wireless Communication, Second Edition, is designed as a primary text book for upper-undergraduate level students and graduate level students concentrating on electrical engineering and computer science. Professional engineers and researchers working in wireless communications, circuit design and development will find this book valuable as well.
Book Synopsis The Best of ICCAD by : Andreas Kuehlmann
Download or read book The Best of ICCAD written by Andreas Kuehlmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 699 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2002, the International Conference on Computer Aided Design (ICCAD) celebrates its 20th anniversary. This book commemorates contributions made by ICCAD to the broad field of design automation during that time. The foundation of ICCAD in 1982 coincided with the growth of Large Scale Integration. The sharply increased functionality of board-level circuits led to a major demand for more powerful Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. At the same time, LSI grew quickly and advanced circuit integration became widely avail able. This, in turn, required new tools, using sophisticated modeling, analysis and optimization algorithms in order to manage the evermore complex design processes. Not surprisingly, during the same period, a number of start-up com panies began to commercialize EDA solutions, complementing various existing in-house efforts. The overall increased interest in Design Automation (DA) re quired a new forum for the emerging community of EDA professionals; one which would be focused on the publication of high-quality research results and provide a structure for the exchange of ideas on a broad scale. Many of the original ICCAD volunteers were also members of CANDE (Computer-Aided Network Design), a workshop of the IEEE Circuits and Sys tem Society. In fact, it was at a CANDE workshop that Bill McCalla suggested the creation of a conference for the EDA professional. (Bill later developed the name).
Book Synopsis Analog Circuit Design by : Willy M.C. Sansen
Download or read book Analog Circuit Design written by Willy M.C. Sansen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume concentrates on three topics: mixed analog--digital circuit design, sensor interface circuits and communication circuits. The book comprises six papers on each topic of a tutorial nature aimed at improving the design of analog circuits. The book is divided into three parts. Part I: Mixed Analog--Digital Circuit Design considers the largest growth area in microelectronics. Both standard designs and ASICs have begun integrating analog cells and digital sections on the same chip. The papers cover topics such as groundbounce and supply-line spikes, design methodologies for high-level design and actual mixed analog--digital designs. Part II: Sensor Interface Circuits describes various types of signal conditioning circuits and interfaces for sensors. These include interface solutions for capacitive sensors, sigma--delta modulation used to combine a microprocessor compatible interface with on chip CMOS sensors, injectable sensors and responders, signal conditioning circuits and sensors combined with indirect converters. Part III: Communication Circuits concentrates on systems and implemented circuits for use in personal communication systems. These have applications in cordless telephones and mobile telephone systems for use in cellular networks. A major requirement for these systems is low power consumption, especially when operating in standby mode, so as to maximise the time between battery recharges.
Book Synopsis Analysis and Simulation of Noise in Nonlinear Electronic Circuits and Systems by : Alper Demir
Download or read book Analysis and Simulation of Noise in Nonlinear Electronic Circuits and Systems written by Alper Demir and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In electronic circuit and system design, the word noise is used to refer to any undesired excitation on the system. In other contexts, noise is also used to refer to signals or excitations which exhibit chaotic or random behavior. The source of noise can be either internal or external to the system. For instance, the thermal and shot noise generated within integrated circuit devices are in ternal noise sources, and the noise picked up from the environment through electromagnetic interference is an external one. Electromagnetic interference can also occur between different components of the same system. In integrated circuits (Ies), signals in one part of the system can propagate to the other parts of the same system through electromagnetic coupling, power supply lines and the Ie substrate. For instance, in a mixed-signal Ie, the switching activity in the digital parts of the circuit can adversely affect the performance of the analog section of the circuit by traveling through the power supply lines and the substrate. Prediction of the effect of these noise sources on the performance of an electronic system is called noise analysis or noise simulation. A methodology for the noise analysis or simulation of an electronic system usually has the following four components: 2 NOISE IN NONLINEAR ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS • Mathematical representations or models for the noise sources. • Mathematical model or representation for the system that is under the in fluence of the noise sources.
