En esta empresa, las previsiones de venta, para la mayor parte de los artículos, se realizan de dos maneras diferentes según el carácter del producto: para los nuevos productos, se les asigna un perfil de venta1 y una cantidad total a 12 meses y la previsión se calcula automáticamente. Para los productos existentes, se revisa su previsión cada mes, adaptándola según las ventas o los diferentes acontecimientos (como por ejemplo el lanzamiento de un producto semejante). El objetivo de este proyecto es el de presentar un método que permita reducir el tiempo empleado en la revisión de las previsiones de venta. Para cumplir este objetivo se estudia en primer lugar el proceso de previsiones de ventas actual. Más tarde, gracias a este estudio y a un análisis detallado del proceso de revisión de las previsiones, se identifican los puntos de mejora. Finalmente, se proponen tres posibles soluciones: la revisión de las previsiones por agregados, la revisión cada dos meses para las SKUs2 slow sellers3 y la mejora de los perfiles de ventas para los nuevos productos. Para poder analizar estas propuestas e identificar la más apropiada, se definen para cada una de ellas una metodología de estudio y las herramientas, informáticas en algunos casos, necesarias para obtener los resultados. Gracias a estos resultados se determina cuál es la solución óptima para la reducción del tiempo dedicado a la revisión de las previsiones de venta. Esta solución es doble: al actualizar los perfiles de ventas existentes, las previsiones de venta iniciales se aproximan más a la ventas reales y, una vez que los productos son lanzados al mercado, las previsiones mes a mes deben modificarse menos. A la vez, el hecho revisar las previsiones de las slow sellers cada dos meses reduce considerablemente el tiempo dedicado mensualmente a la revisión de todos las SKUs sin afectar a la calidad de las previsiones. Sin embargo, la propuesta de la revisión por agregados queda descartada, ya que el tiempo de creación de los agregados es superior al tiempo que se reduce, y los resultados no son demasiado satisfactorios.

Studies conducted in the 1930s showed that the severity of tooth decay was lower and dental fluorosis was higher in areas with more fluoride in the drinking water. In response to these findings, community water fluoridation programs were developed to add fluoride to drinking water to reach an optimal level for preventing tooth decay, while limiting the chance of developing dental fluorosis. By the 1980s, studies in selected U.S. communities reported an increase in dental fluorosis, paralleling the expansion of water fluoridation and the increased availability of other sources of ingested fluoride, such as fluoride toothpaste (if swallowed) and fluoride supplements. This report describes the prevalence of dental fluorosis in the United States and changes in the prevalence and severity of dental fluorosis among adolescents between 1986-1987 and 1999-2004. However, fluoride can also enter public water systems from natural sources, including runoff from the weathering of fluoride-containing rocks and soils and leaching from soil into groundwater. Fluoride pollution from various industrial emissions can also contaminate water supplies. In a few areas of the United States fluoride concentrations in water are much higher than normal, mostly from natural sources. Fluoride is one of the drinking water contaminants regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) because it can occur at these toxic levels. In 1986, the EPA established a maximum allowable concentration for fluoride in drinking water of 4 milligrams per liter, a guideline designed to prevent the public from being exposed to harmful levels of fluoride. Fluoride in Drinking Water reviews research on various health effects from exposure to fluoride, including studies conducted in the last 10 years.
